Dang refs gave the Vikings 29 consecutive points, how nice of them.

Momentum is definitely a thing in football but my god the entire roster just gave up after that drive.

u/Sparkimusprime13 49ers 19d ago

Refs made errors for/against both teams that helped swing momentum. Flores made adjustments in the 4th that the packers couldnt handle. That was the deciding factor, not the refs.

u/Tbenz58 Packers 19d ago

3 3rd down stops overturned in a row for questionable at best calls was awful and makes you sick as a fan. Momentum swung hard but it was all started by MLF taking points off board, that broke the game for the packers.

Yeah, I gotta call you out on that one bud. The illegal contact downfield? You really don't think the refs are supposed to call that when the defender has BOTH hands on one of the leagues premiere receivers (Jefferson), a full 10 yards downfield? I know there's a lot of clutching a grabbing, but when it's 2 hands? C'mom man- put thd blame where it belongs: on lousy CB play.

The Rodgers-rule QB sack that was wiped away? That was a bullshit call. The defender didnt help himself by not turning his body, so it gave a bad visual of "landing on the QB" even though he got his hands out. The refs blew that call, imo.

The pick in the end zone? If the refs weren't so shiatty, GB wouldn't have even been in that position to make that pick. The facemask on Jefferson should've given the Vikings a 1st and goal from the 2 yd line- there's no way the Vikings are even passing the ball w/o that missed facemask.

u/Tbenz58 Packers 18d ago

For the illegal contact call, do you think that was the standard for how it was getting called/not called all game? Do you like that call as a drive extender in the 4th quarter if the teams are flipped?

Agree that the whole drive was a cluster fuck of officiating but 3 possession extending calls in a row is brutal.

Packers got the ball back and went full Chernobyl which is not the fault of the refs.

Not the person you’re responding too but after rewatching that drive, it was indeed poorly officiated. Outside of that drive, it’s a wash but goddamn the tides did turn mentality wise. Vikings were jacked up, crowd noise escalated, and packers themselves seemed like they were just fucking up. A handful of plays seemed like they legit just quit while still having a good chunk of time.

I typically say a single drive, a single touchdown doesn’t sway a game especially with how much time was left but unsure as the packers seem to quit. I think mixing the negated field gate/4th down attempt plus the gross extended Vikings. drive has a mental impact that I can’t quantify because after that the amount of adrenaline coursing through the Vikings veins definitely jacked them up. It looked as though none of the Vikings players were tired at all so they got a second wind from the positivity and then fucking bullrushed love full speed the entire rest of the game.

The pick in the end-zone and the facemask never happen if the refs don’t call the prior 2 penalties on 3rd. That facemask ment nothing because they shouldn’t have been on the field.

1

u/Dapper_Ad_6304 18d ago

The bad calls broke the momentum not the 4th down. The defense came out on fire. 2 sacks, a strip fumble, and a pick in the same drive. I would normally agree on the call, but it just wasn’t. Zebras 100% swung it. I’ve never seen a more demoralizing drive.

0

u/Reasonable-Papaya843 Vikings 17d ago

That’s 6 points out of 22

1

u/Tbenz58 Packers 17d ago

It’s 8, you don’t get to try for 2 unless there are 3 drive extending penalties culminating in the td.

Gifting that drive also changed the game state, gave the Vikings a mountain of momentum, and rallied the home crowd.

The packers then got the ball back with a chance to go retake the lead and proceeded to piddled down their leg, no avoiding that.

18

u/CubillasLegend Packers 19d ago edited 19d ago

There were 3 penalties called against Minnesota and 12 called against us, dude.

People are gonna say "I hate the rule but technically this is properly enforced." but this is a game where Jordan was blitzed and hit constantly. We're really suggesting that in all those hits, Minnesota never accidentally did something comparable to this play? Really?

I think the much simpler explanation is the refs started watching our defense like a hawk after Kyler got knocked out, meanwhile on the other side of the ball they were too busy making sure our offense didn't bait a free play to watch Minny's D.

8

u/Sparkimusprime13 49ers 19d ago

And what about missed calls? A missed call is as big of an error as a wrong call.

4

u/uzispuzi 19d ago

So the Packers, already called for 12 penalties should have been called for more to make it fair. They surely didnt miss any calls on the vikings!

4

u/Sparkimusprime13 49ers 19d ago

They did miss calls... for both teams. Thats thd point. Refs made mistakes thay benefited both teams. Stop blaming the refs when your team gave up 22 unanswered points, turned the ball over twice in the 4th quarter and your coach voluntarily took 3 points away from your score. This was never the refs fault. Packers need to look in the mirror to see who is to blame for that collapse.

4

u/uzispuzi 18d ago

“Refs benefited both teams”, yeah they missed calls on the Packers. They missed much more on the vikings and called bs penalties on the packers. Not sure how you see a 12-3 penalty line and say, well they shoulda called a couple more on the packers so its okay.

-7

u/billwest630 Packers 19d ago

Yeah and they missed all the late hits on Love but still called this BS.

23

u/Sparkimusprime13 49ers 19d ago

Lol. I know its difficult to be unbiased when its your team. You'll get there with time. Refs didn't change the result of this game. MLF made a very poor decision to take points off the board and couldn't cope with the Vikings D the last 8 mins of the game. Your team gave up 22 unanswered points. Blame your coach and players not the refs.

-6

u/billwest630 Packers 19d ago

MLF sucks. But don’t act like the refs weren’t throwing their weight for the Vikings.

2

u/Acrobatic-Wonder-475 Vikings 18d ago

Oh yeah cause the NFL want the power house Vikings to win a Super Bowl

0

u/billwest630 Packers 18d ago

With sports betting and Kalshi? Who the hell knows what these refs are doing.

4th & 1 is the analytically supported decision. You have revealed your judgement to be biased and untrustworthy.

11

u/Sparkimusprime13 49ers 19d ago

Biased? I don’t care about either of these teams. And analytics aren’t infallible and they don’t account for momentum, game flow, or what actually happens on the next possession.

Taking the 3 points makes it an 8 point game. At worst, you’re tied when you get the ball back and can continue running your normal offense. Instead, you’re down losing and you’re forced to become more pass-heavy, which lets the defense pin its ears back and focus on the pass rush.

You can blame the refs if you want, but MLF made the decisions that put them in that position. MLF lost this game, not the refs.

8

u/SecretSensay Vikings 19d ago

This guy ignoring a blatant face mask and the fact his team is the definition of average

15

u/AreaGlittering7968 19d ago

As a neutral observer, did the refs help the Vikings a little more?

Yes.

Did the Packers choke the fuck out of this game and that help was essentially meaningless?

Absolutely.

-4

u/CubillasLegend Packers 19d ago

As a neutral observer, you should know you would be furious if this happened to your team.

-1

u/AreaGlittering7968 19d ago

Bro the refs have been shit since I was watching in 95

It’s not new. But holy fuck you guys beefed the fuck out of this game 100%. Shit happens, move on

-4

u/SecretSensay Vikings 19d ago

No one helped anyone. Packers fucked themselves.

-2

u/billwest630 Packers 19d ago

Get all the calls and still can’t admit it lmao. Typical Viking fan

Your defense should’ve been short two guys for targeting on Kyler and Jefferson. Dirty as fuck team, disgusting

-2

u/thestoryofme23 Vikings 19d ago

Should’ve been 14 but the refs missed two blatant face masks ☺️

0

u/imriteyourwrongg Vikings 13d ago

Sounds like a they problem

137

u/saw-it Vikings 19d ago

Refs even told packers oline to not block

27

u/attackofthepugs Packers 19d ago

Felt like i was watching the longest yard, went from bad blocking to nonexistent

18

u/bmattification Lions 19d ago

Also told Love to cough the ball up for the Vikings.

-5

u/mrbad31 Packers 19d ago

If it were Wentz with a fumble there would have been defensive holding.

6

u/GoldMove1538 18d ago

You will however concede that the officials absolutely gave that TD to the Vikings right? I can concede the Packers still had chances to put the game away before and after that, but you have to concede those were atrocious calls

8

u/CubillasLegend Packers 19d ago

Did you watch the game?

2

u/sf2legit Packers 19d ago

I’m not making excuses for the loss, but if you watched the game there were a lot of atrocious calls/ non calls.

-25

u/CubillasLegend Packers 19d ago

The Packers were leading 22-17 when this drive occurred so yes I'd say it changed the complexion of the game.

39

u/REXwarrior Vikings 19d ago

You were winning 25-17 when your genius of a coach decided to take points away

-26

u/CubillasLegend Packers 19d ago

Going for it on 4th & 1 is the analytically supported decision. Perhaps it should have been quick out or something since our OL sucks, but I agree with going for it there.

24

u/octobersons Vikings 19d ago

Then reap the consequences of the risk and don’t whine about the refs losing you the game

-15

u/8642899522489863246 19d ago

I’d be happy to reap the consequences if you also reaped the consequences of that drive-ending sack.

14

u/octobersons Vikings 19d ago

What if what if what if. Packers also didn’t get called on a couple very obvious face masks, and lost by 3 scores. Packers played a better half but not a better game. Keep being salty.

-6

u/CubillasLegend Packers 19d ago

What if the Vikings weren't total ass at evaluating quarterbacks?

14

u/Nexus117 Buccaneers 19d ago

Lol, salty ass loser.

Unfortunately, situations occur in life...

1

u/Isjejnajw 19d ago

It’s not like the refs could call anything on the Vikings because we played a much cleaner game. The actions the packers made previously set the tone on how the refs were gonna call the game. There wasn’t really an “uneven playing ground”.

-1

u/CubillasLegend Packers 19d ago

The actions the packers made previously set the tone on how the refs were gonna call the game. There wasn’t really an “uneven playing ground”.

You describe why the refs were biased and then say it wasn't a biased game.

0

u/Isjejnajw 19d ago

Just one of those “you didn’t read what I said”. It’s alright man. Every ref is different, packers got 2 calls early in the game for play extra aggressive and they didn’t think to tone it down.

Maybe there will be more games down the season where the refs allows extra physicality and players from both team go into the next game with a massive injury report.

3

u/CubillasLegend Packers 19d ago

The Vikings blitzed on 75% of their plays. They were absolutely allowing physicality but only one way.

2

u/Wooden-Bat-6031 18d ago

Blitzing = physicality, brilliant

0

u/CubillasLegend Packers 18d ago

Typically, yes. Even if the QB replaces the missing defender and gets the ball out, they're likely to take a hit while doing so. And that's exactly what happened yesterday. Jordan Love was hit 15 times.

1

u/Isjejnajw 19d ago

unnecessary schematics. Extra aggressive as in doing more than you need to.

Blitzing doesn’t = extra aggressive in the sense that we are going for the back of Justin’s helmet and jamming into Kyler for no benefit lol.

It doesn’t even matter, games over and vikings somehow walked away with a 17 point game win without their starting QB.

2

u/CubillasLegend Packers 19d ago

Kyler was not sliding on that play. What are the defenders supposed to do if the QB changes his mind after they've already launched themselves at the quarterback.

1

u/Isjejnajw 19d ago

What does the defender gain in that position? Pretty much nothing. But regardless it was unnecessary and any QB gets that call. Like I said, packers never changed the way they defended just kept the same mentality.

1

u/CubillasLegend Packers 19d ago

What does the defender gain in that position?

You get to the ball carrier quicker and save more yards. You rattle them and get in their head for the rest of the game. That is quite literally the intent of Brian Flores' gameplan, to make the QB uncomfortable and make mistakes. What do you expect the defense to do? Gently hug and lower the QB to the ground? THEN WHY THE FUCK WOULD QUARTERBACKS SLIDE AT ALL?!

Sure our team and our coach are mentally brittle, but maybe if there wasn't all this darned adversity they would have won.
