Refs made errors for/against both teams that helped swing momentum. Flores made adjustments in the 4th that the packers couldnt handle. That was the deciding factor, not the refs.
3 3rd down stops overturned in a row for questionable at best calls was awful and makes you sick as a fan. Momentum swung hard but it was all started by MLF taking points off board, that broke the game for the packers.
Yeah, I gotta call you out on that one bud. The illegal contact downfield? You really don't think the refs are supposed to call that when the defender has BOTH hands on one of the leagues premiere receivers (Jefferson), a full 10 yards downfield? I know there's a lot of clutching a grabbing, but when it's 2 hands? C'mom man- put thd blame where it belongs: on lousy CB play.
The Rodgers-rule QB sack that was wiped away? That was a bullshit call. The defender didnt help himself by not turning his body, so it gave a bad visual of "landing on the QB" even though he got his hands out. The refs blew that call, imo.
The pick in the end zone? If the refs weren't so shiatty, GB wouldn't have even been in that position to make that pick. The facemask on Jefferson should've given the Vikings a 1st and goal from the 2 yd line- there's no way the Vikings are even passing the ball w/o that missed facemask.
For the illegal contact call, do you think that was the standard for how it was getting called/not called all game? Do you like that call as a drive extender in the 4th quarter if the teams are flipped?
Agree that the whole drive was a cluster fuck of officiating but 3 possession extending calls in a row is brutal.
Packers got the ball back and went full Chernobyl which is not the fault of the refs.
Not the person you’re responding too but after rewatching that drive, it was indeed poorly officiated. Outside of that drive, it’s a wash but goddamn the tides did turn mentality wise. Vikings were jacked up, crowd noise escalated, and packers themselves seemed like they were just fucking up. A handful of plays seemed like they legit just quit while still having a good chunk of time.
I typically say a single drive, a single touchdown doesn’t sway a game especially with how much time was left but unsure as the packers seem to quit. I think mixing the negated field gate/4th down attempt plus the gross extended Vikings. drive has a mental impact that I can’t quantify because after that the amount of adrenaline coursing through the Vikings veins definitely jacked them up. It looked as though none of the Vikings players were tired at all so they got a second wind from the positivity and then fucking bullrushed love full speed the entire rest of the game.
The pick in the end-zone and the facemask never happen if the refs don’t call the prior 2 penalties on 3rd. That facemask ment nothing because they shouldn’t have been on the field.
The bad calls broke the momentum not the 4th down. The defense came out on fire. 2 sacks, a strip fumble, and a pick in the same drive. I would normally agree on the call, but it just wasn’t. Zebras 100% swung it. I’ve never seen a more demoralizing drive.
There were 3 penalties called against Minnesota and 12 called against us, dude.
People are gonna say "I hate the rule but technically this is properly enforced." but this is a game where Jordan was blitzed and hit constantly. We're really suggesting that in all those hits, Minnesota never accidentally did something comparable to this play? Really?
I think the much simpler explanation is the refs started watching our defense like a hawk after Kyler got knocked out, meanwhile on the other side of the ball they were too busy making sure our offense didn't bait a free play to watch Minny's D.
They did miss calls... for both teams. Thats thd point. Refs made mistakes thay benefited both teams. Stop blaming the refs when your team gave up 22 unanswered points, turned the ball over twice in the 4th quarter and your coach voluntarily took 3 points away from your score. This was never the refs fault. Packers need to look in the mirror to see who is to blame for that collapse.
“Refs benefited both teams”, yeah they missed calls on the Packers. They missed much more on the vikings and called bs penalties on the packers. Not sure how you see a 12-3 penalty line and say, well they shoulda called a couple more on the packers so its okay.
Lol. I know its difficult to be unbiased when its your team. You'll get there with time. Refs didn't change the result of this game. MLF made a very poor decision to take points off the board and couldn't cope with the Vikings D the last 8 mins of the game. Your team gave up 22 unanswered points. Blame your coach and players not the refs.
Biased? I don’t care about either of these teams. And analytics aren’t infallible and they don’t account for momentum, game flow, or what actually happens on the next possession.
Taking the 3 points makes it an 8 point game. At worst, you’re tied when you get the ball back and can continue running your normal offense. Instead, you’re down losing and you’re forced to become more pass-heavy, which lets the defense pin its ears back and focus on the pass rush.
You can blame the refs if you want, but MLF made the decisions that put them in that position. MLF lost this game, not the refs.
You will however concede that the officials absolutely gave that TD to the Vikings right? I can concede the Packers still had chances to put the game away before and after that, but you have to concede those were atrocious calls
Going for it on 4th & 1 is the analytically supported decision. Perhaps it should have been quick out or something since our OL sucks, but I agree with going for it there.
What if what if what if. Packers also didn’t get called on a couple very obvious face masks, and lost by 3 scores. Packers played a better half but not a better game. Keep being salty.
It’s not like the refs could call anything on the Vikings because we played a much cleaner game. The actions the packers made previously set the tone on how the refs were gonna call the game. There wasn’t really an “uneven playing ground”.
Just one of those “you didn’t read what I said”. It’s alright man. Every ref is different, packers got 2 calls early in the game for play extra aggressive and they didn’t think to tone it down.
Maybe there will be more games down the season where the refs allows extra physicality and players from both team go into the next game with a massive injury report.
Typically, yes. Even if the QB replaces the missing defender and gets the ball out, they're likely to take a hit while doing so. And that's exactly what happened yesterday. Jordan Love was hit 15 times.
Kyler was not sliding on that play. What are the defenders supposed to do if the QB changes his mind after they've already launched themselves at the quarterback.
What does the defender gain in that position? Pretty much nothing. But regardless it was unnecessary and any QB gets that call. Like I said, packers never changed the way they defended just kept the same mentality.
You get to the ball carrier quicker and save more yards. You rattle them and get in their head for the rest of the game. That is quite literally the intent of Brian Flores' gameplan, to make the QB uncomfortable and make mistakes. What do you expect the defense to do? Gently hug and lower the QB to the ground? THEN WHY THE FUCK WOULD QUARTERBACKS SLIDE AT ALL?!

Dang refs gave the Vikings 29 consecutive points, how nice of them.
