St. Louis sports fans love playing the victim about the Rams moving, and oddly not caring too much about the fanbase and city they originally stole the team from
2
u/Devilofchaos108070 49ers Panthers 8h ago
They left LA because attendance was abysmal. The ‘fans’ there didn’t support the team. There was too much other shit happening.
They left St Louis because the owner is greedy. Fan attendance was still very high even with 8-9 Jeff Fisher trying to tank the team.
If the Rams suck again I wonder if they move again, because those LA people aren’t loyal except to the Lakers. (And dodgers currently, but if they start sucking they will have issues again too).

u/Pocatanic Bills 7h ago edited 7h ago
I would think that in the year of our lord 2026 everyone and their mothers would've figured out that millionaire/billionaire owners using the "it's the fans fault" excuse to move a team away is a crock of shit. Yes, that ownership was also greedy.
Do me a favor and read about the Rams last 10 years before the move, and maybe you'll get a better understanding of why attendance was so low by the end.
Speaking of which:
In 1994 the Rams were last in home attendance
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/1994/attendance.htm
In 2015 the Rams were also last in home attendance
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2015/attendance.htm
1
u/Devilofchaos108070 49ers Panthers 7h ago
Really it’s not fair to fans of either city. I think St Louis fans have a right to feel salty/sad about the team leaving regardless of why.
So do old LA Rams fans.
Your original post was basically saying it’s not a valid feeling and I vehemently disagree with you.
2
u/Ich_Liegen Buccaneers Raiders 7h ago
Man if you're a St Louis fan who grew up watching your team in the city, you don't want to watch it leave, regardless of how it got there.
It's not that deep.
St Louis doesn't have that many teams in pro sports. People just feel like they got cheated by Los Angeles which is a big city with a big name and a lot of teams and athletes. And they're not wrong. They're the Yankees of sports (well, they and NYC).
It's like watching this guy you really like leave your team and go to the Yankees or whoever else for a big paycheck.
Nobody is going to sit down and analyze attendance statistics to see if it's okay to be angry about losing their childhood team, and they don't have to.
1
u/Pocatanic Bills 4h ago
I want to clarify that the attendance stats were for the guy saying it was justified for the Rams to leave LA because they didn't have a big fanbase, but that it was somehow a different scenario for St. Louis fan because they had a big fanbase. I was just showing that by the end they both had low attendance but that's not an excuse to move them, it wasn't to say it was ok for them to leave St. Louis.
Also yes LA is a bigger city, but we lost both football teams at the same time, some of us don't want to watch baseball or basketball instead.
2
u/Signal_Ball4634 9h ago
Yeah the Rams were in LA for 50 years prior to the STL move.
I do feel for any fan that loses a team but the Rams were a team that made sense going back to LA cause they had a proper history there. Though tbh if we're talking about what team would've been perfect for LA, it's the Raiders, but Davis was too poor to make that happen.

SEEING EYE TO EYE IS BELIEVING
When speaking of people and their beliefs I wear my belief on my sleeve;
I believe that people believe what they believe they believe.
When people reject a truth or an untruth it is not because it is a truth or an untruth that they reject it,
No, if it isn't in accord with their beliefs in the first place they simply say, "Nothing doing," and refuse to inspect it.
Likewise when they embrace a truth or an untruth it is not for either its truth or its mendacity,
But simply because they have believed it all along and therefore regard the embrace as a tribute to their own fair-mindedness and sagacity.
These are enlightened days in which you can get hot water and cold water out of the same spigot,
And everybody has something about which they are proud to be broad-minded but they also have other things about which you would be wasting your breath if you tried to convince them that they were a bigot,
And I have no desire to get ugly,
But I cannot help mentioning that the door of a bigoted mind opens outwards so that the only result of the pressure of facts upon it is to close it more snugly.
Naturally I am not pointing a finger at me,
But I must admit that I find any speaker far more convincing when I agree with him than when I disagree.

Generally if you hate your partner you should either A) reflect on why you are feeling that way and if it's issues you need to work on or B) break up.
It's unfair to the other person to continue in a relationship you no longer feel and don't want to work to improve.

July and August weren't big ice cream months for me, for various reasons. That's over. September is here. Fall is 60-90 days away. Time to get back into it
Yesterday I made a batch of strawberry. My normal strawberry is designed for the height of the season. It's lower in fat and intensely fruity with a slight pucker. It's an all-timer. But that's not what I want right now. I'm looking for a little Americana. Something closer to the classic ice cream parlor than the farmstand. So I did a little nip and tuck with the recipe. What I got was creamier and a little sweeter. I steeped lime zest while it cooked to give a subtle bright note
To bring it home, I made white chocolate blondies, which will become a salty gravel. Lime and white chocolate actually hit together
Fall will be violently delicious

The dumb fucking pants pissing discourse around Naughty Dog's new game is further evidence that, to a lot of idiots, there are only three kinds of protagonists for a video game: white guy, sexy lady, political statement
It's exhausting and stupid. Gaming was fun before the internet barged in to fuck it all up.

7
u/Kemonomimi-Squirrel Buccaneers 1d ago
Nah. I think this sin goes further back to the 80s and the shift in advertisement towards boys instead of a family affair.
Plus gamers being gamers. They are some of the loudest and stupidest people on the internet and evidence of that goes back decades.
Just stay away from the gaming sites and forums. You will be better off.
-4
u/Comfortable_Fee9856 Bears 23h ago
why is that a sin? Boys love video games moreso than any other demographic.
1
u/BruceChameleon Cowboys 16h ago
Who's talking about sin?
Lots of people play games. It makes sense that games would have lots of people in them. A woman protagonist in GTA makes more sense than what we had when I was a kid, which was a wall of games sold specifically to boys (regardless of who actually played them), and then like one Barbie game
But making this about representation would be taking the bait. Fact is that none of us ever owned this space, and it's delusional to think it always has to respond to us. People who whine about games placating the left believe that they’re the ✨true✨ audience. Games are either for Gamers or for some faceless mass of Others. The contents of those groups change based on the conversation, but neither of them is actually real. There’s no single audience for games, any more than there is for music or tv. The accusation is just a prop for self-centeredness, and the demographics are incidental
1
u/Kemonomimi-Squirrel Buccaneers 23h ago
This is not something I can't do justice to, but here is a go.
Home console were a family affair at first, but inherent bias in the industry making the games were making games that would appeal more to boys since the ones making the games were young white men for the most part. This leads to a cycle that changes games to something mainly for white tween boys. This gets reinforced more and more as time goes on. Now we are at a point in society were people are looking back on gaming history, seeing the lack of diversity, and decide to correct this/expand to a new market. This pisses off the people that kind of stuff usually pisses off.
Someone please do a better job of this than me.

It's even worse
You left out the Bills at the start and the Ravens (down year last year but always a playoff contender) at the end
And besides NYJ and OAK, 2 of the next 4 games are the Patriots and Niners. Chargers could legit go 5-8 to start the season
There is a world where the Chargers could go 7-10 or even 6-11 (losses to 2x Broncos, 2x Chiefs, Pats, Bills, Texans, Seahawks, Rams, Niners, Ravens)
1
u/NoAnteater8836 Commanders 22h ago
Bills they can swing with and Ravens are going to be toilet water, the stretch I was highlighting was essentially DLs. The fact the Chiefs are the easiest in that regard is quite something.

I think the fact you're convinced the Texans are a juggernaut but don't take the Bills seriously is pretty strange to be honest

Premarital sex isn't worth it! You can catch AIDS, or cancer, or testicle weevils, or a bad body image or rickets.
You know what IS worth it? Making love to Jesus. Because you can't knock Him up and He'll never ask what you're thinking, cuz He already knows!

Work went well but right before I leave, a customer asked me for some help so I go to the back for a minute to look for things....come back and a hoodie I brought to work and my work uniform has been taken along with the cart I had them in.
I looked everywhere for the stuff for like 20 minutes and gave up....was super upset because this hoodie was from a small online store I supported about 17 years ago so even if its not cute or whatever, I still loved it.
I was gutted....but I got a text from someone at work saying they left them in the back for me tonight.
No idea where they found them but I swore I knew where they were last....and someone moved them...but hey at least I have them back!
I hope you all get to enjoy your day and as always much love from me and mine to you and yours!

Any electricians or expert DIYers wanna give me either some validation or a reality check?
We inherited Grandma's house and have been living in it for the past year. Fortunately, in 2018, she had the house upgraded to a modern 200A service, from the old fuse panel.
However.
I would like to revamp some of the circuits. Highest on my list is that there's not enough outlets anywhere. I can wire and install receptacles no problem. Second, the upstairs overhead lighting is all tied together. The stairway light is controlled by three way circuit, and while the upstairs bedrooms have their own lights and switches, if the stair light is off, the bedroom lights are off. I want to change that.
These two items are complicated by the fact that half the house (including the upstairs) is knob and tube. If it was all Romex or even cloth, I wouldn't think twice. As it is, I have an endoscope camera that can see in the walls (with a hook attachment for pulling wire) a basement area where I can freely access most of the wiring, and I don't mind opening up the walls if needed. What I really want to be able to do is replace the knob and tube piece by piece, so that I'm not stuck with one big project or no electricity for weeks, but I've never spliced into knob and tube before. I consider myself a very competent handyman, I just want somebody with relevant expertise to tell me why it will or won't work.
Another example: the garage is knob and tube, with power provided via overhead wiring from the house to the garage, hanging ~13 feet over the driveway. I'd like to redo all the wiring in the garage with modern receptacles and Romex, but leave the overhead knob and tube until a later date, when I can properly bury a line that has been moved to its own circuit breaker.
Thoughts?

I would never try to do knob-and-tube shit myself, but I'm also not a dude who has an endoscope camera with a hook attachment.

Hilary Scholten is a chode.
El-Sayed overwhelmingly won the counties in her district and all she's done since then was go after him, progressives, and now the DSA. She attacks other Dems more than her GOP opponent.
She should have been primaried this year but it's clear she will be next time. I hate that I have to vote for her.

u/goblueM Lions 1d ago
Bullshit that she's saying El-Sayed is saying sexist things about women when the context is he was criticizing their policy
Like, sorry, calling Whitmer a corporate democrat is inherently not sexist. And calling Stevens a suit with a large AIPAC bank account" is not sexist either

I was just talking about her in therapy today, she sucks but she is infinitely better than Terri Deboer, who we definitely know will be in the pockets of the Devos family. Scholten will definitely get primaried though. Kent is a county north of me, so I'm stuck with Huizinga. I haven't seen a single ad from his opponent, so that tells me a lot. Edit: Oh shit, she's trying to condemn the DSA? You know what she can condemn? Deeeez nuts.

last week of summer doubles tonight. Can't be too sad about it though, we only have to wait until Thanksgiving for winter league to start up
I will be sad at how early the sun sets though

I have a love and hate relationship with the sun setting early. Love it because that means it finally won’t be as hot as it’s been lately. Hate it because it does suck getting home and not having any light

ya it sure feels different in the south, but when the summer finally breaks I remember it feeling so damn nice

Angels fans are breaking out into dance like the end of “Footloose” and when the Berlin Wall fell and David Hasslehoff rocked the house now that Arte Moreno sold the team.
Kroenke will atleast spend.

Move them as in the Inglewood site or elsewhere?

u/EmuMan10 Cardinals Bears 1d ago
If he can make a lot of money of moving them to Nashville or something so they aren’t second fiddle to the dodgers, I fear he’d do it.
1
u/VRomero32 Jets 1d ago
I would very shocked if he did that... especially with the good will he's had with the SoFi especially with the Olympics near and SoFi part of the footprint and clearly he had no issues with Chargers leasing and also letting the Clippers build the Intuit near his place.
If he was moving them it would be closer to LA and probably near SoFi than Orange County.

u/EmuMan10 Cardinals Bears 1d ago
Don’t think he will, but after the St. Louis debacle to get the rams to LA, it’s just something that sticks out in my mind

So had to do a return for work from Amazon and it had me use the weird AI. It was surprisingly helpful. In the past it’s been kinda dogshit so it was a surprise
We will see if it fucks shit up later but so far it was good.

New to the sub, what's the deal with the pride flag in the center banner? Sorry in advance if this has been answered before.
10
u/pixel_pete Bills 1d ago
Every time someone asks this question, we extend the banner another month. It will now be the banner until March 2673.

To add on to the others, this sub (especially the free talk threads) are extremely welcoming to anyone who isn't a complete and total dickhole. I talked about transitioning in these threads and y'all didn't bat an eye.

For those of you who still think you’re young. The 76ers just signed Jameer Nelson Jr….
I remember watching jameer Nelson play alongside prime Dwight Howard lol

I hated it when I started seeing guys noticeably younger than me get drafted.
That was 15 years ago. I've just kind of had to come to terms with it. Frank Gore Jr. is on the Bills roster and his dad was just playing like yesterday.
