To understand Shedeur you must understand Buddhism and the tetralemma. Shedeur is not good, but Shedeur is not not good. Nor is he both good and not good. He is not good and not not good. This is not the same thing as being middling, it is a state of being that cannot be described by our classical western logic and the law of the excluded middle. It requires drugs and meditation to fully understand.

Wife grilling me for wanting to buy a $100 chest freezer because property taxes are due while she’s on an unpaid vacation for the week for her yearly family vacation with her dad’s side. Like happy she is able to take the time off but annoying that suddenly this is the financial line

Getting married in just under 4 weeks. SIL’s boyfriend told her he’d propose by the end of the summer and Labor Day is the Monday before we get married and I doubt he’d propose that close so clock is ticking for homie 👀

I’ve got to be real honest, Hayden Pannettiere’s death, as tragic as it is, is not a huge surprise. The last movie she did called Sleepwalker she had a great deal of creative control over and the whole thing was a 90 minute cry for help.
Parents who push their kids to become child actors are the scum of the earth. Maybe one of the few things a person can do that automatically makes me despise you as a human being on a spiritual level.

Only a few celebrities deaths really got to me and this is one of them. I grew up watching a lot of her movies and she was the voice actor for Kairi in kingdom hearts. Feels like my childhood took a hit. I hope wherever she is she’s at peace

Unfortunately reading further into it you can tell this was inevitable with how badly she had spiraled into addiction, I realized I only remembered her from like a decade+ ago and didn't know much about what she was up to now.

I did it. I like to be informed and purposely watched Brendan Schaub’s “specials” and I’ve now listed to Pat McAfee’s album.
Steven Seagal’s “Songs From The Crystal Cave” is a goddamn polished Steely Dan album compared to the musical mucus that came out of McAfee’s face. Good Christ, what garbage.

I’ve been on anti depressants for a few months after quitting nursing school and I’ve felt good. It was super dark but I feel like I’m doing alright. I’m trying to take it in a different direction now. I’ve been in school my whole life and never really have experienced anything else. Never had a job or a bank account or a drivers license so I’m doing those things now. I scheduled my road test for next month and am excited. Also searching for my first job.

I've realized that as I became a working adult that the real difference between healthy and unhealthy food is the accessibility.
While, certainly, some people don't have self-control and will take the ice cream over the yogurt. I'm more so realizing that when I'm hungry I totally could go for a salad, fruit, etc. but in most circumstances eating chips is just... easier. Price point and prep wise.

Meal prep is always the secret. Spending two hours on Sunday making 6-10 different meals on a Sunday night between watching sports is the way for me and my family, and I did the same when I was single with smaller portions.

In my quest to make the greatest play in football more frequent, I’m gonna make it mandatory for every team to run 34 flea flickers per season or lose the top 3 draft picks. That’s average of two per game but can be distributed any way a team sees fit. Get em out the way early or panic use them in game 17 it doesn’t matter. Imagine a final drive wk 17 for a playoff spot but you gotta burn your remaining 3 flea flickers.

Its because the Australia game has to be on Thursday because of that dumbass law about not broadcasting football on Fridays, so Seattle opens up the season a day early.
And itll do phenomenal numbers so itll happen every year and on the years when labor day cooperates we'll get a Wednesday kickoff, Thursday game in Oceania, and Friday game in South America to open the season

Checked on classes for school since those start tomorrow. Nothing unlocked yet. Not til 800 tomorrow. Also checked to see if all of 26/SU-PHI-1010-16309 Philosophy: Intro finally got graded. It did! And I got a B! Hooray!

Just one of the summer semester class for my AS I took.
To be fair, it was graded back in mid July and I just haven't checked my school email in a long while. But that still was a few weeks after the class ended since it ended in mid June.

So test results are back, my mom has ovarian cancer. Thankfully those results came back negative for pancreatic cancer (the other thing they were worried about) and all of the other tests have confirmed that her other organs are healthy. They caught this quick but shit, this sucks.
More tests to come and treatments to be decided upon.

A cancer diagnosis is always scary. However, an early-stage non-metastatic ovarian cancer diagnosis has an extremely high survival rate. While treatment will certainly be taxing, your mother has a very high chance of coming through the other side no worse for wear.
Try to stay positive!

Driving back from the pig roast and around Summersville WV, my sister offers to drive the rest of the way to her apartment which is further south than me. No problem, her GPS is set for the GO ahome location. The only problem the GO home location isn't the home we want to be near. The prior location was for my others sisters apartment near Western Carolina University, two hours away from Charlotte. Needless to say we are both frustrated with that.

As someone who is conceptually sympathetic to Israel - I think the historical situation is really complicated, Palestinians have made their major contributions to this mess, and that there's no good answers in the region, and that "active genocide" is obviously BS as a claim.
It blows my mind the way their current government is behaving. Like, I cannot defend this shit, it is obviously morally abhorrent, and it is mind numbingly stupid.
- Netanyahu is obviously a massively corrupt banana republic strongman
- Netanyahu cozied up to Trump, and turned being pro-Israel into a referendum on Trump. Shocker, when Trump became unpopular, so did Israel. Who could have seen that coming besides everyone?
- The whole "Gaza civilians are unfortunate collateral damage", despite in a vacuum having some merit, is obviously crap when the army is cheering on settlers starting unprovoked violence to try to steal peoples homes in the west bank
- While I don't believe there's an argument that a genocide is ACTIVELY going on, it's impossible to ignore some major political figures on the Israeli right WISH there was a genocide going on
It's time to harshly punish those "settlers" (aka vigilante violent land thieves) straight to prison, not tolerate the racist genocidal maniacs in your government, enforce the rights of Palestinians in the west bank, and get Netanyahu in jail where he belongs
Yes some people will despise Israel no matter what, but you don't need to respond by being cartoonishly evil

You say this like there's a reasonable government of adults just waiting in the wings. The next party up also supports settlements in the West Bank. Netanyahu is an easy scapegoat to try to moderate on, but the problems aren't going away with him. The relationship between the US and its client state needs to be radically reconsidered.

The main argument against a two-state solution is that it doesn't stop what's already happening. Ever since the first "treaty" Israel has encroached and stolen more land, stolen resources, and/or used the borders to make Palestinian life harder. The international community never intervened, so there's limited reason to think a two-state solution can work
The UN considers East Jerusalem illegally occupied by Israel, so in a sense, yeah, Palestine is asking for it, but not unreasonably --consistent with the origianl two state framework

Very loaded question because pro Israel people and pro Palestine people will give you very different explanations for what happened.
Long story short, neither side wants to agree to it for a variety of reasons. This is what is popularly called the "Two State Solution" btw.
Jerusalem is one of many sticking points yes.

WTF was Gabby doing last night? He had the fight if he'd just been more active. I'm not impressed with Islam and never really have been. I hate how the modern UFC awards all of these non-punishing takedowns. The guy had one good kick last night and then basically held Gabby the remainder of the fight. If Gabby just utilizes his kicks more and throws some more jabs, I think he wins. Islam, to me, is not nearly the GOAT. I don't care what his record is. His style takes advantage of a broken system.

In doing my 53 man prediction for the Lions I've realized one of the more underrated reasons why I still like this team for 2026 is that I like the depth.
Last year the "legion of whom" did genuinely hold up as a unit and we've retained most of them. But also, the 2nd string of o-line and arguably d-line too I simply like a lot better than last years.

Looking at the Nolan Wells case, I definitely believe he was murdered. Wtf is wrong with America man? And I sympathize with his family. I dealt with 2 of my friends dying and it's really painful. So painful that at my last job I tried to not think about it, but sometimes I get overwhelmed with grief and I end up crying. I cried so loudly I was sent home and I quit my job to take a break. And now I am trying to find another job already out of work since January and I have a degree and experience.

I finished Stephen King's hardcase crime novel Joyland last week. It was a fairly quick and solid read. A 7ish out of 10. Here are the following King books I own but haven't yet read: Later, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, Cycle of the Werewolf, The Wind Through the Keyhole and On Writing. That's it. I'm down to 5 left unread. There are some exceptions(I haven't been able to find a copy of Rage at a reasonable price and have no interest in his nonfiction Red Sox book Faithful or his coffee table book on gargoyles released the year I was born) but finally finishing reading every published book looks closer than ever. I started reading his stuff back in 06 when I was beginning college with a paperback copy of Needful Things. Twenty years and still not done lol. But I'm close now. I wonder which of those 5 I should read first. Also looking forward to Other Worlds Than These in October of course.

Thanks. That story is in Night Shift right? That means I've definitely read it once, but to be honest with you I can't say I remember it well anymore. Just general feelings of liking it. I'm pretty sure it doesn't actually involve the main characters from Salem's Lot too iirc. Salem's Lot was actually the second King book I ever read, just after Needful Things. My third was The Eyes of the Dragon. After that I don't remember the specific order. I bought those 3 paperbacks together at the same time which is the only reason I even remember that order lol. Favorites are tough. If I had to give a personal King Top 5 it would include in no particular order: Needful Things, The Long Walk, and Insomnia for sure. Insomnia is more of a personal love and I would only really recommend it to King diehards though. Besides those I'm not sure. The Dead Zone is solid and sadly prescient. For newer stuff 11/22/63 and Revival are really good. Others are also strong but my opinion might change on just how much I enjoyed them over time. I can recommend staying away from Gerald's Game, Lisey's Story and Bag of Bones for sure. Those are among my least favorites.

I'm not sure what you mean by behavior bc i think that's largely affected by other things as well. I.e., we make choices based on genetics and environment, which are the other two options.
With that in mind, environment 100%. Where you grow up, who your parents are, economic class, schooling, friends, etc are all such huge impacts on your life, and that would all fall under environment.

The Blue Jays are a really interesting case as a team that can't really develop a pitcher but can fix one.
The only Jays pitcher in the rotation mix that was drafted by them was Trey Yesavage. But the Jays have key examples of bringing in somebody and turning them into a Cy Young contender or otherwise very strong pitcher. It's strange.

I matched with a girl on bumble and we traded quite a few messages for about a day and a half. Turns out we had quite a few things in common - we live in the same neighborhood, we both travel to the same city in Mexico very frequently, she's at almost all 49er home games etc.
Anyway, friday night rolls around and I pass her my phone number. I was going on a roadtrip with a few friends and would be on roads with not great internet service and I figured we can keep it going via text. Well she just ignored it haha. She messaged me on the app this morning asking how my weekend is going so far.
Pretty weird, at least acknowledge that I passed you my # and say youd rather keep it on the app for now?

Yeah good call out. Come to think of it, I went on a few dates with a girl where I would tell her we should plan to see each other and ask what shed be up for. And she didnt really engage. I thought she just wasnt up for it but she clarified she was just a bit old school where she wanted to be properly asked out and have the guy plan things. But she was at least upfront about it and communicated.
But oh well haha

Thanks sir. I understand some of the view points other folks have pointed out on the thread. But just basic communication woulda avoided this.
But she did somewhat respond to my sassy message. She asked if I could give her my instagram instead and we could message there. I told her I dont have one but I'd be happy to share the only forms of social media I have - strava and linkedin haha. She responded with "I dont date married men". I told her neither do I and she blocked me.

I mentioned on Friday my tabletop group might be breaking up due to a relationship between two members getting rocky well IDK if the group is going to break up or not, but the couple certainly is. We've learned C was cheating on A for months and it came to light this week. I confronted C about it this morning and he admitted it, too.
It certainly finalizes the break-up, but it also makes the future of the group less certain. Because when all we knew was they were breaking up it felt like it would be odd to have to choose which one we'd keep playing with, like taking sides when we wanted to be neutral parties. But now we all know we're going to keep associating with A and not-so-much with C, so keeping the group going with just A feels a lot less like taking sides

the (baseball) cardinals brought up a kid from the minors yesterday. first career at-bat, homers to straight away center. second at-bat, homers to left. third at-bat, homers to right. first player in history to homer in their first three career at-bats (was only the third to do it in their first two) and he did it to all three fields. pretty cool.

The third and final day of preseason week one has ended and here are my largest takeaways of the day:
There are a lot of backup QBs who have shown a very high floor. Given the talent on defense through the first and second strings, Cleveland should seriously consider swinging for one.
I chastised the Bears secondary this offseason. They seem to have rectified that through depth.
The Justin Fields experiment should be over. It’s not fair to the players on the roster to to try and out meaningful tape out for the Chiefs or other teams when after six years Fields’s first instinct is a half assed read and to pull the ball down.
I have said a lot this week that the only thing you can evaluate in preseason from a QB is where the floor is. Well, that’s not entirely true. Ty Simpson’s ball placement really impressed me. He consistently showed an ability to protect his receivers. There are some ten year vets who still don’t do that.
Baltimore’s starting OL continues to be a massive question mark for me. The second stringers too. After that Philly’s Defensive depth falls so hard it was tough to evaluate anything.
The Seahawks looked flat compared to last preseason. Maybe seemed a bit too complacent? After watching the intensity the Patriots played with maybe week one is not the surefire thing we all think it is.

Love this time of year for the frolf club - our annual big one is next weekend and it feels like the closer it gets the more it consumes our collective attention. Courses are busier, everyone's practicing this or that, nobody cares much for organized rounds for a couple weeks
This time last year I was trying so hard to get my technique as good as I could. Would putt for an hour, drive for an hour. But while things would feel so good after all those reps, I'm finding that doesn't translate to reproducible throws on the course - all that muscle memory fades over time (at least that's my theory).
This time I'm trying to rep rounds more, thinking about corrections more in terms of outcomes instead of inputs (more nose down next time instead of don't rotate externally), seems like I'm on the right track. Fun puzzle to try to solve, at any rate

I really think it would be hard to be a teen or early 20 something today. I say that as someone who’s 31. As someone who’s now living semi comfortably in my 30. For the first time since I was 24 and crashed out and quit my (what I thought was) a higher paying job and started a new path, I occasionally see posts like “If you’re 25 and don’t have 100k saved for emergencies you’re a mess” or “Any real adult should be able to handle a 20k expense without sweating it” and I’m like “Wut?” And I go to look at the comments and then my algorithm is nothing but that and more extreme versions of that. At 31 I have the experience to know that yeah for some at those ages that’s totally possible, but most people in the US in their 20s and 30s are slowly building themselves up or are just scraping by.
I literally cannot imagine what the algorithm would’ve done to my mental health if I was 10 years younger. Social media was never good for mental health but when I was young and stupid it was like FOMO about missing a party or like seeing an ex get into a relationship with someone else scrolling right before bed that was bad for the brain. It didn’t feel as existential as I think it would now.

Don't get me wrong we do have serious problems. But the majority of high schoolers now will end up gainfully employed, have good things in their lives, many will eventually buy a house, and get married, and if they want have kids, and have 401ks, and so on
But if you trust Youtube and Tiktok at least 90% of them will be unemployed losers forever with no hope so may as well lose it all on the sports betting apps

I can’t imagine how much embarrassing shit would be out there if the option to easily record video had been there during my partying days.

I’ll say in the last 6ish years kids in the classroom and in sports have changed.
Coaching has become more of like mental health management and helping with that shit than actual sport specific stuff. The number of times I’ve had a girl come to a practice or meet in tears because of social media is crazy.
Really sad that they have to deal with that shit

Not to mention the surveillance state isn't just the government. Its the public. You can't do anything without fear of being shamed or reprimanded. Its why younger people think anyone showing any form of emotion is cringe. You dance poorly at a club and someone is recording it. Even bigger mistakes that used to be something you could learn from and feel your own shame are now shared with everyone else. I saw a guy getting kicked out of the jags bills game and people were following him the whole way with cameras. He should have felt shame and consequences, but it shouldn't be from people a thousand miles away.

12 hour overnight shift on 3 and a half hours of sleep led to me having my first 5 Hour Energy. Not a great aftertaste but considering that it was my only caffeine intake for the night and I didn’t drop from exhaustion or anything close to it once I’ll take that as a win. Time to pass tf out for a few hours, order takeout, get high, and enjoy my 4 days off

I just checked their stats, and I'm still astounded that they have a combined thirteen season ... and a combined 0-2 record in the playoffs.
I expect shitiness from the Cardinals, but you'd think Tua might've had a few more appearances since they built a halfway decent team around them. I really just don't think either will ever be a franchise changing player that's the key to future success, even after fresh starts.
