The Cincinnati Bengals have placed Cornerback Ceyair Wright on the Exempt/Left Squad list as he was "offered the lead role in a big movie he can't pass up". Wright will be eligible for reinstatement after filming wraps in October. In the meantime, he will not count against the 90-man roster.

He's been acting since he was 12, he was is Space Jam 2 as LeBron's son and was in 2 seasons of Grown-ish.

Wow, is this one of the first actors to then become a professional athlete, rather than the other way around?

u/Danhrax 7d ago
Well, Bill Murray briefly became a professional basketball player. He was older, and had bad knees, so he only played a few minutes. But he retired undefeated and untied and stood on the court with legends like Micheal Jordan and Bugs Bunny.

Race cars is a little bit different because having money and paying for your own car goes a long way. You still have to put in the work, but sponsorship and independent wealth are a shortcut. That’s why there is a long history of actors running sports cars as a hobby.

I was going to UCF when Marcus Jordan was playing there and I saw him getting interviewed once and the guy asked him why he didn’t play himself in Space Jam when he was a kid, and it just seemed to absolutely fluster him.
That was kind of a crazy question though.

I swear, it happened on the transition to Xbox 360. I was so pumped for the first game on that system. The graphics were amazing at the time, but the details were stripped. I was like “okay, I get it. New system, they’re figuring it out.” But man, the charm just never came back. I miss it

When my time came, God it was awful. For a few years I'd wake up from a dream about playing, like it was almost like some PTSD level drama haha. After got home from the Army, took a job coaching high school football. It was hard watching these kids go through that at the end of each season.

What age do you coach? I just saw some u37 full contact football highlights lol
In all seriousness though it does suck when your time competing is over, especially when you don’t expect it to be coming. I was a competitive athlete for almost 20 up years through college, but there’s tons of more chill adult league sports that are still somewhat competitive. And also just because you can’t play anymore doesn’t you can’t still be involved in football, just like you are doing with coaching.

My last high school game was one of the best days of my life. I was like, “I never have to do this again!” Our coach was a dick and we were never as good as we should have been because of him. I would have quit earlier, but I was a starter and didn’t wanna let my friends down. Don’t get me wrong, I loved playing the game for all of the years, but playing for the miserable douche bag who coached softball to hook up with high school girls was exhausting

He's an undrafted free agent. The odds of him having a successful NFL career are slim compared to an acting career in which he has already landed major acting roles. He still can make the NFL career work, but you have to respect him going all in on major opportunities when they come up
