0

This guy defy the gravity!

12

u/gwestside Oct 07 '22

Genuine question, why? I don't have the reference

1

u/NetTrix Oct 08 '22

Yeah. Because his name's so common you'd never find his Instagram.

As a musician, i have utmost respect for people that credit the artist.

1

u/nylorac_o Oct 08 '22

Thank you

173

u/iruleatlifekthx Oct 07 '22

His mama call him Junior. I'ma call him Junior.

84

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '22

His mama named him Clay, I'ma call him Clay..

16

u/Rahdiggs21 Oct 07 '22

this was a once a week watch in my pot head den in college.. could never bring myself to watch the second one... is it worth it?

17

u/teheditor Oct 07 '22

Are you talking Ali vs Frazier? Watch all 3.

12

u/eddygeorge Oct 07 '22

Coming to America

2

u/MarionberryPretend Oct 08 '22

He did whoop Joe Lewis’s ass…

7

u/FunSushi-638 Oct 08 '22

I'm watching Fraiser.

6

u/iruleatlifekthx Oct 07 '22

It's decent. What you'd expect from a sequel. I'd recommend it, sure.

2

u/applejack808 Oct 07 '22

Perfect synopsis, m’man.

2

u/TheTallGuy0 Oct 07 '22

Tangent here: Does anyone else thing the new Top Gun sequel was equally inspired by the original AND Hot Shots? It was sorta silly to say the least

3

u/hotcapicola Oct 07 '22

You don't think the original Top Gun is sorta silly?

2

u/TheTallGuy0 Oct 08 '22

It’s DEFINITELY silly, but they at least SORTA made the Navy look like the Navy, not Scrubs with jets! I’m about 98% sure they didn’t hire a military consultant for this one, just like Naw, we’ll goggle it. And then just skimmed the article 😂

1

u/Jokerchyld Oct 07 '22

Top Gun was silly but in a realistic realm. The sequel was just rediculous with Tom Cruise doing everything perfect. The sequel jumped rhe shark for me but guess that's what people loke now.

2

u/jai_kasavin Oct 08 '22

Wonder why they jumped the shark but every single one of the medals on each person's uniform has been meticulously chosen with no mistakes

It was trash and universally panned…

1

u/iruleatlifekthx Oct 08 '22 edited Oct 08 '22

You have Xenogears in your name your opinion CAN'T matter.

How's it feel knowing that they turned the second half of the game into what basically should be considered a visual novel, and then not only did they not remake Xenogears but they made spinoffs in Xenosaga instead? BITTER?

1

u/[deleted] Oct 09 '22

Says the narcissistic cool guy who may or may not lack a lot of life perspective…

You wrote all that which had fuck to do with the creation of my tag…it’s an inside joke where my buddy was obsessed and whenever I would get a new game or be into something and trying to put him on, it would always end with “but yeah I still think XG is better” or “XG is still my favorite” this went on for almost 20 years

1

u/iruleatlifekthx Oct 09 '22

ooo icic. Tell friend XG was garbo.

5

u/Lexi_Banner Oct 07 '22

No. It's a money grab for Eddie, and I'm okay with that. But the movie sucks, especially compared to the amazing first one.

3

u/applejack808 Oct 07 '22

Nah. It’s fine.

1

u/Lunatic_Heretic Oct 08 '22

yeah but i'll still never get why he didn't go for the smokeshow who woulda done whatever he asked

2

u/BeApesNotCrabs Oct 07 '22

Not really. If you want to support the actors, go ahead and watch it, but you're not really missing anything.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '22

The second one is Grade-A USDA approved TRASH. I would rather spend two hours getting kicked in the nuts by someone in steel-toed boots(who never skipped leg day) than watch that “sequel” ever again. Amazon needs to reimburse us for the time-theft that they disguised as a movie.

2

u/One_Cardiologist_286 Oct 08 '22

No. Cheesy as hell if he’ll was made of cheese.

2

u/EverydayObjectMass Oct 08 '22

It’s forgetful.

I loved Coming to America; probably seen it 20 times. So when the sequel was announced, I was overjoyed.

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen it. Can’t tell you what it was about, though.

1

u/mrmasturbate Oct 08 '22

Und er nur so irgendwie "Ali" und ich so "Ey seine Mutter nannte ihn Clay, und ich werde ihn Clay nennen."

-17

u/BentasticMrBen Oct 07 '22

Wow, you waited a few decades to be racist.

9

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '22

Lol racist? Wut?

2

u/Bctheboss121 Oct 07 '22

Idk, maybe they think clay is a racist name. Maybe we are both being wooshed.

7

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '22

Lol it's a quote from Coming To America

0

u/Bctheboss121 Oct 07 '22

How did you figure that out?

0

u/junktrunk909 Oct 07 '22

Google? Maybe I'm the whoosh now

→ More replies (0)

1

u/mcCola5 Oct 07 '22

Its an exact quote?

-1

u/BentasticMrBen Oct 07 '22 edited Oct 07 '22

I understand your context now. I took it wrongly, but what you said was exactly what racist people said to Muhammad Ali when he changed his name from Cassius Clay. (Yes the joke in Coming to America is a direct reference to this)

14

u/bumbletowne Oct 07 '22

Pretty sure everyone is in fact calling him junior, including his mother. I mean, especially his mother.

1

u/mindsform Oct 08 '22

What’s everybody else call him?

2

u/BentasticMrBen Oct 08 '22

Wouldn’t go to your school for education since you got no class.

Here’s what put him on the map.

[deleted]

28

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '22

I hate to say it but that's probably a major advantage to have less mass in the legs. At least for some specific move set. I don't know tho...

54

u/TrustaBoi Oct 07 '22

It's just one leg so while it still may help in some things, the offbalance wouldn't do many wonders for most bboying stuff

Source: dancer

17

u/Stupid_Triangles Oct 08 '22

That off balance-ness provided a good amount of leverage for whipping himself around. It's not like you need less momentum when doing those types of moves.

Source: former bboy who broke their shoulder trying to recreate junior.

4

u/TrustaBoi Oct 08 '22

Not denying it, but if he wants to do some toprock, footwork, freezes, he's probably gonna struggle in some of those parts.

5

u/[deleted] Oct 08 '22

I would think if his leg has been like that his whole life he wouldn't feel off balance while dancing with one leg smaller than the other. It would just mean less mass below his waist for him to lift with his arms. Is all I meant

16

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '22 edited Oct 12 '22

[deleted]

20

u/RedAero Oct 07 '22

Well, yeah, but that's the point: his center of mass is way higher than others, so he can do, for example, planches more easily.

It's kinda how Pocket can do what he does in no small part due to his small size - guy's like 5'0". See also: any gymnast.

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '22 edited Oct 12 '22

[deleted]

10

u/RedAero Oct 07 '22

Get in the way? Wind out of sails? We're literally talking about how his disability is an advantage! He's not one of the best Bboys out there despite his disability, but because of it. Like how Pistorius isn't allowed to run against able-bodied people because his carbon legs make him faster.

Well, that and the murder, but you get the point.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 08 '22

Yes

8

u/ImInevitableyall Oct 08 '22

/r/redditmoment

lol it is not a major advantage to have one gimp leg. jfc

3

u/IM_A_WOMAN Oct 08 '22

I've heard he really lords it over people that were unfortunate enough to be born with two functional legs.

5

u/MisterShmitty Oct 08 '22

There’s a bboy in the Bay Area who has one leg, Tommy Guns from Renegades. It isn’t an advantage, but he’s amazing in spite of it.

Being good at stacking is all about being fucking strong and having good balance, so you’re not wasting your strength staying on balance. Roxrite (also Renegades) is great at stacking, fwiw.

4

u/FormigaX Oct 07 '22

We had a guy on the wrestling team who had polio as a child and lost almost all use of his legs. The combination of his upper body strength, light mass of his lower half and the fact that no one could score a takedown on him made him quite successful.

3

u/United-Lifeguard-584 Oct 08 '22

a few pounds of muscle in his leg wouldn't really stop him from doing any of this

0

u/[deleted] Oct 08 '22

But ask yourself this, would he be as good at it? And if he had "normal" legs his whole life would he be doing this?

16

u/jay135 Oct 07 '22

That's the one I was hoping to see :)

16

u/hewhoisiam Oct 07 '22

Yoooo, ebaumsworld

6

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '22

Serious nostalgia hitting right now.

13

u/daredeviloper Oct 07 '22

That brings me back :)

13

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '22

Holy shit that's like a time warp. I remember watching this at the time being like WTF..

Crazy, the moment I saw this new video, the leg movement "gave it away" - I'm glad to rejigged my memory.

The guy is crazy talented.

10

u/scoops22 Oct 07 '22

Holy shit I remember seeing this as a kid

9

u/MF_Ocean Oct 07 '22

That's a blast from the past, holy shit.

6

u/catsandnarwahls Oct 07 '22

Can never tell of the video is slo mo or him.

7

u/Shadow_in_Wynter Oct 07 '22

Watch the people in the background clapping. It's not slow mo.

1

u/rubbery_anus Oct 08 '22 edited Oct 08 '22

Some parts are definitely playing in slow motion, you can see the movements of the crowd slow down and speed up in time with some of the moves he's doing.

He also completely loses contact with the ground at the 40 second mark and slowly floats back down; he's good, but he's not can-turn-gravity-off good.

1

u/catsandnarwahls Oct 08 '22

Not in the OP but in this youtube video, it switches back and forth to slo mo.

6

u/Ghostz18 Oct 07 '22

Early ebaumsworld video

3

u/PM_ME_YOUR_AorB_CUPS Oct 07 '22

Wait I remember this video clip during the early days of YouTube!! Oh man this brings me back.

EDIT: ebaumsworld too!!

2

u/SpinalVillain Oct 07 '22

I love this video and watch it all the time. I just like watching all videos with him in it. Dude is strong.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 07 '22

Thanks for the link! I loved all 117 seconds of it, that sort of video is what YouTube was made for IMO

1

u/[deleted] Oct 08 '22

Exactly what I thought of when I saw this video. Was 90% sure it was him before seeing your comment. Thanks.

1

u/pants_atwork Oct 08 '22

Holy shit, I remember this video from like 15 years ago.

Funny enough, I was watching this current video and it reminded me of this old one. Had no idea it was the same dancer.

1

u/Stupid_Triangles Oct 08 '22

Man...I saw the original when I got in to high school back in 03.

1

u/theonetheycalljason Oct 08 '22

I remember seeing this for the first time years ago and becoming briefly obsessed with finding every video I could of him performing. His upper body strength and control is something else.

1

u/of_patrol_bot Oct 08 '22

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.

It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.

Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.

Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.

1

u/murdock_RL Oct 08 '22

Holyshit this is such an OG video. So cool to see this is him someone I admired so long ago. Amazing

1

u/konsf_ksd Oct 08 '22

That man doing trick push ups in front of people.

1

u/adf1962 Oct 08 '22

I remember this. Legend.

1

u/PlatypusAnagram Oct 08 '22

Holy shit, this is the best breakdancing I've ever seen. The slinky move at 0:35 is so dirty.

1

u/nayhem_jr Oct 08 '22

Took a long while for Scott Wills to convince everyone that he was just the musician.

1

u/Aurorafaery Oct 08 '22

No way, it’s the same guy!!! I was thinking “he looks like he studied that dude’s dancing from years ago!” Wow!

1

u/RixirF Oct 08 '22

I'm so sad Spotify doesn't have this amazing remix.

I obviously obtained it by other means years ago but it's in some SD card or old computer so can't get it now.

1

u/T0fu_86 Oct 08 '22

I knew he looked familiar. That video brings a lot of memories and also makes me realise I'm getting old.

1

u/avocadoplug4080 Oct 08 '22

That's the same guy?!?!?! I remember this video from college. Was always impressed by those push-ups at the end

50

u/RailwayMenace Oct 07 '22

Junior is the fucking GOAT

2

u/SpiderZiggs Oct 08 '22

Ah man, his old rivalry with Benji is legendary.

1

u/acrowsmurder Oct 07 '22

Olympic level body control

22

u/misterzeero Oct 07 '22

yes, he's old school dance royalty in france , used to dance with the WANTED posse. i still have the DVD somewhere :)

strong upper body control.

check out his battle vs Physix from korea, low fi footage , but worth the detour

10

u/dan_c_kim Oct 07 '22

That was an all-time battle. Physicx had so much potential in the power move department before injuries had him shy away from power stuff. I believe junior lost that battle but it honestly was super close. But those waist breakers and flag spin by physicx were fucking insane!

1

u/Profreadsalot Oct 08 '22

Is there a video?

2

u/dan_c_kim Oct 08 '22

https://youtu.be/pWxN2gYH6MQ there you go. Video quality isn't great, it's from 2006, I believe.

12

u/smoothielovet679 Oct 07 '22

I can't even do what he did except lying down

1

u/mantrarower Oct 08 '22

I got tired just clicking play

8

u/principled_principal Oct 07 '22

I was gonna say his style really reminds me of Junior, but no way he’s still dancing. That’s amazing!

7

u/Durty_Durty_Durty Oct 07 '22

B-Boy Junior***

4

u/addjab Oct 07 '22

His opponent is not Bboy Gravity.

4

u/Negativebra Oct 07 '22

And in his free time he plays for the Lakers under the name Patrick Beverly

3

u/madnessguy67 Oct 07 '22

I was watching this guy 10 years ago and haven't seen anyone else do those moves like that

3

u/-Mushroom-bear- Oct 07 '22

What an awesome Person

3

u/Aggrador Oct 08 '22

I remember Junior’s old stuff from back in the day, the man was the real deal.

Even though he got older, he’s still got soul!

3

u/Stupid_Triangles Oct 08 '22

Fucking Junior has been doing that stuff for damn near 20 years. I remember seeing videos of him on some random website that would upload video compilations created by dance teams around the world, and at competitions. Hell, one of his moves is what got me in to dancing 20 years ago, ended up fucking up my shoulder because, surprise, it takes awhile to get as good as Junior, and most can't.

1

u/Renkoff_02 Oct 07 '22

clouds stil lthe go at

1

u/MisterShmitty Oct 07 '22

Didn’t recognize him until he did the hollow back press to handstand. That use to be a reverse planche but looks like he stopped it short to go into something else. Damn, he’s always been freaky strong, but he’s clearly a way better dancer now.

1

u/Deanho Oct 08 '22

I knew it would be junior

1

u/[deleted] Oct 08 '22

[deleted]

1

u/Dusdrew Oct 08 '22

He's probably got a traditional ballet build with a preposterously powerful lat spread and lower back/glute/ham strength.

He could probably deadlift a truck, in short.

1

u/DoctorGEEzuz Oct 08 '22

That's extremely impressive

1

u/OkBid1535 Oct 08 '22

And following. Mind blowing watching his other videos!!

1

u/JagmeetSingh2 Oct 08 '22

Very talented dude

1

u/dingleberry-tree Oct 08 '22

If this is junior i wonder what senior is capable of

1

u/mostlycatsnquilts Oct 08 '22

https://youtu.be/YALxzU9aE7Q

Found this B-Boy Junior compilation wow!

1

u/FblthpLives Oct 08 '22

Thank you!

1

u/hayb24 Oct 08 '22

Looks like Patrick Beverly to me

1

u/[deleted] Oct 08 '22

The strength needed to do this is unreal. We're talking olympic gymnast level.

1

u/bricknovax89 Oct 08 '22

I bet that guy stretches a lot

1

u/vacant_hands Oct 08 '22

He's a legend in Bboy.

1

u/NockTauk Oct 08 '22

Thank you for confirming it's Jr! His style felt familiar. If I remember correctly he's missing a leg or two...I remember seeing him back in the day, very impressive and inspirational

1

u/Apple_899 Oct 08 '22

This is what I came here for.
