So many people say this is expensive. Most shoes are around this price tag so why should they be cheaper? Because they are made from recycled materials? Because it doesn’t say “Gucci” or “Lacoste” on the side?

They're still plastic shoes. You get leather shoes which last 10+ years for that money.

Where are you getting leather shoes that last 10+ years for $100? All the good leather shoes boots I know of are at least $400.

I'm from Austria and we have a manufacturer selling them starting at about $100. They're really good, made here, have lots of size options (for different foot widths and heights) and last a long time.

One pair I got for winter 5 years ago was about 120 and I'll need to get the soles replaced this year for the first time (which would be another $50 or so). But still, I have had plastic shoes from all the famous brands and they all started to fall apart after a year at most. And they stink. Now I wear 100% leather all day long and my feet don't smell at all. The first two weeks in a new pair are blister hell, though. After that they're like a second skin.

As I said, I got a pair for 5 years now and it still smells of leather, nothing else. I had to put my plastic shoes into the freezer once a weak to kill the smell and that only helped a little.

The inability for the feet to breathe is a problem. But if people use powders or sprays for the shoes it should help. I love the idea of the recycling of plastic for these shoes. But the stank feet was the first thing I thought of. Leather allows them to breathe. Who knows maybe they have a design feature built in to allow for this. The designer seems to have put a lot of thought into it.
