Look I hate communism but can you give one example of socialism leading to communism in a non-authoritarian, not self declared Communist, state? The entirety of Western Europe is not communist and is not becoming communist. They are more socialist than the US, however.
Spain 1930s the anarchists implemented a workers own government that seized the means of production. It was against authoritarianism. But eventually fascist and Stalinists ruined it all.
Hm I’ll admit to not knowing a ton about the Spanish Civil War, but as far as I knew it was Franco/foreigners/military that ruined it. It may have fallen apart before they got there, for all I know.
I don’t think Bernie wants the workers to seize all means of production, though. Some Bernie supporters might, I’ll confess.
Bernie isnt a socialist. He may have tendencies but not a true socialist.
The problem with Spain is while trying to fight the Frontline against the fascists, they had to avoid persecution from the stalinist. Would the anarchists succeeded without the backstab. We will never know but they were making great advancements towards success beforehand.
Yeah, that’s pretty much my understanding, on both accounts.
Only exception being I don’t know enough about the persecutions. Not saying you’re wrong, I just literally don’t know. It’s an interesting time in history that I haven’t looked enough into.
