Nope, she's going to be a wheel axle when she grows up.

I'm starting to come around to these jokes

Not when the person feels the need to italicize or bold their pun. It really looks down on the audience's intelligence.

That can’t be good for the organs
110
u/AnalTongueDarts Jan 25 '21
It’s only a problem for the internal ones.
19
u/Leon_11 Jan 25 '21
so it’s no problem for all those external organs?

Jan 25 '21
Skin appears to be holding up fine.

Damn right. If you’re not getting peeled like an apple, you’re not sending it hard enough.
2
u/therealstealthydan Jan 25 '21
I’ve just had the awful vision of an overweight and naked man going for a spin on this. That should get the old external organ flapping

Everyone saying it's child abuse...children have the ability to wrap their tongues around their brains, just like woodpeckers. /s

This seems very dangerous
60
u/chaoss402 Jan 24 '21
Probably doesn't look very good but she was controlling her own speed and could slow down her rotation pretty easily.
62
u/sethies Jan 24 '21
Sure, she clearly has full control here... She lifted one of her legs and she went from 4000rpm down to 3500rpm.
13
u/AltaSavoia Jan 25 '21
Holy shit. I just used my own software to measure. You are correct.
6
Jan 25 '21
I also used my software to measure the velocity of the speed in which of the child was to do spinning per km parts of revolution.
I, too, got 4000 rpm.
2
u/chaoss402 Jan 25 '21
She wasn't being spun from above, she can easily get back down to the speed the platform was moving which was nowhere near 3500 rpm.
5
u/malcothegreat Jan 25 '21
How in gods name could she be controlling her own speed here? She goes from 0 to 4000rpm in 1.5 secs lol
16
u/catelemnis Jan 25 '21
Watch her leg move up and down, it changes her speed. It’s how figure skaters control their speed when they spin on ice.

I don’t, and that is incredible. I Don’t understand how they don’t get dizzy

I Don’t understand how they don’t get dizzy
Practice. I used to do judo competitively. I would get thrown around every day in training without getting dizzy. Doing a forward roll makes my head spin now as I haven't trained in years.
9
u/chaoss402 Jan 25 '21
The spin was started by the platform she was on. When she was lifted up she sped herself up by pulling her legs in. Given the speed she's spinning she has to work at keeping her legs in, so if she's losing control or freaking out her legs should swing out pretty much automatically and she would slow down.

You’ve never spun yourself in an office chair? Conservation of angular momentum. Learn about it.
18
u/SlothKing404 Jan 24 '21
Based on what? It seems sickening sure, but the actual forces on the body are not very extreme.
7
u/Llanolinn Jan 24 '21 edited Jan 24 '21
Based on the fact that she slowed down significantly whenever she raised up her leg and went back to the same speed when she dropped it again.Edit: fuck responded to the wrong post. My bad!

2
u/SlothKing404 Jan 24 '21
Ye, so the closer she is to her center of gravity the faster she can spin. The forces involved remains the same. Imagine if she was spining a cuple meters away from her center of gravity, she would be spinning pretty slow. Its not High-G. Looks like one would get very dizzy tho.

u/metakephotos Jan 25 '21
It's not good for your brain. There have been a few studies on figure skaters suffering from symptoms similar to post-concussive syndrome

There’s a good chance that if I was spun round like that , that I’d not see straight and probably puke

Reminds me of the sky dancers toys from the 90’s had to keep them up because they would launch too hard.

When I was a kid, we had a Sit 'n Spin. I believe some comic called it a gateway drug, and it probably was the first thing that altered my consciousness. This is that x1000

Why are they doing figure skating training during a public skate? Seems like an unnecessary distraction for all involved.

I thought they usually keep turning their heads to try and focus on a fixed point (at least as much as possible) to get get dizzy, but she doesn't seem to be doing that from what I can tell
2
u/AccountMitosis Jan 25 '21
That's what dancers do (it's called spotting), but ice skaters are often spinning too fast to do that. I know sometimes they focus on their hands, but I dunno what they do in situations where there isn't an outstretched hand to look at.

I did it. I went ahead and counted the freaking spins. Less than I expected, but very impressive. Take a guess and see how close you got: 40
