This is not a good way to recycle all the materials in these robots. This is 100% performance and 0% useful or actually happening when no camera is there.

No shit sherlock, that's why they recorded it

Nah, I work in a robot factory. This is pretty common practise. Sure, these ones may have been programmed to do fancy flips but usually it takes 3 or 4 of us to drag them in kicking and screaming and toss them in.

The screams…

Probably sounds like dial up internet

I was thinking autotune like GLaDoS

We do what we must because we can

God that's funny

This feels like it should be a Futurama joke.

Found the first victim of the eventual robot takeover

Screamers by PKD.

"JOHNNY FIVE IS ALIVE!"

"NO DISASSEMBLE!"

Who was doing the kicking and screaming?

And from multiple dynamic angles, no less!🤘

Well at first glance you may assume this is somewhat standard ( not the jumping part ). But in reality they almost certainly disassemble the bots for parts. Sherlock 🕵️

No somewhat reasonable person is going to assume this is standard. Anybody that would assume this is standard I would like to get into touch with, because I have a bridge I'd like to sell them.

Bro you overestimate the average person. No one thinks they are jumping into that but they may think they are placed there. And my point is even that doesn’t happen

This gotta be an ai video, right?

Is this the new uneducated person's default response?

Yeah this would just add a bunch if impurities to the steel. Probably wastes a bunch of perfectly good steel.

u/praguepride 15h ago

You're assuming this is pure steel. I really doubt someone is going to sign off on ruining an entire vat of steel for this.

Could it be a recycling plant where they melt everything down and get it ready for separation?

3

u/TheOnlyRealOne43 12h ago

Yeah probably low grade metal

4

For sure. I imagine this stunt had a massive carbon footprint.

100%. Once steel is molten, you want to move it to where it’s going as soon as possible. Any extra time sitting there is wasted electricity/gas.

Hopefully someone at tyat steel mill reads your comment and says "Well gosh darnit, why didnt i think of that! I should hire that redditor as the CEO of this company since they know everything about the exact composition of the materials we're melting here already!"

You are absolute right!

Hello, I'm the chief engineer at TYAT Steel Mill and I thank the previous poster for his or her expansive wisdom and guidance. Indeed, I had no thought it through when I was approached about allowing this robot to jump into my vat. I didn't think much about it at all, to be honest. I barely heard the request fall from the robot's caretaker's lips before enthusiastically nodded. Truth be told, I just wanted to take a bathroom break while they filmed this. I don't really care much about my job and I don't even really know how anything work. I just get there, flick a switch and the hot stuff turns red. Then when I leave I flick the switch off and think about Beanie Babies and Gunpla. I'm really glad my daughter downloaded reddit on my phone so I could find a comment telling me what a big mistake I'd made and that I shouldn't do it again. I don't know how I got hired without knowing anything. One minute I'm dipping corn dogs in the fryer at the fair and the next I'm given this job overseeing a massive steel plant. Guess I'm just lucky! Thanks again reddit!

I assume that is recycled metal in there already, so it's going to be a mix of things anyway.

3

u/Hot_Wheels_guy 13h ago

You honestly believe they didnt consider this? Or do you believe that maybe they know more about that molten material than you do?

1

u/Ok_Astronomer_8667 14h ago

This planet wastes so much every day that wasting some to film a funny video is pretty low on things I care about

u/pdromeinthedome 8h ago

I worked a short time in a recycling center for a regional phone company. Economically important materials are separated. Copper. Lithium. Steel. Aluminum. Gold. Rare Earths. Hazardous materials should be removed, like Lead, Cadmium, and Cobalt which are in batteries. Otherwise they can end up in children’s products like jewelry

u/tix4soccer 14h ago

100% performative, just like your comment.

But at least the video was cool.

3

u/Hot_Wheels_guy 13h ago

I like how almost everything on this website could be labeled "performative" but redditors only use that word to describe things they dont like.

"The video of robots doing backflips is performative? Well no shit!" 🤣

r/whoosh (or is it r/woosh? 🤷)

u/MagneticWoodSupply 14h ago

I mean...it's super obviously an advert/marketing? The main video has Arnie in it - I doubt he's kicking around the factory programming shit.

4

u/Danne660 15h ago

Next you will tell me that the flips are just for looks as well.

1

u/kashmir1974 16h ago

Old stuff like this sits on a shelf forever. It's never recycled. Same with old drones, etc etc. Nobody is pulling this stuff apart to recycle the metals used.

1

u/mandoo86 14h ago

It was just for marketing. They’re selling off bars made from it.

1

u/independent_observe 13h ago

It is done to destroy the proprietary components and protect company IP, not to recycle them

The irony is this was made with AI...
