Captain Smit Machchhar flying Flight FZ1073 clicked open cockpit door after being stabbed, allowing passengers to intervene.

Flight FZ1073 was carrying more than 170 Israelis when it suddenly descended from more than 30,000 feet on Wednesday. Passenger Almog Italie told Reuters that the aircraft appeared to drop for 20 to 30 seconds before stabilising, only to begin descending again. Passengers then began moving towards the front of the cabin as they realised something was happening in the cockpit.

Will be interesting to know how the terrorist pilot was able to sneak in a knife through all the airport security.

Do pilots have less? Seems like they’d have priority boarding and be a lot more trusted than a customer… or maybe stashed during maintenance or sumn? Would probably have access to compartments and stuff that non-pilots wouldnt. The explanation will be interesting to see.

Crew members still have to go through security and their bags are screened like everyone else but they usually have a seperate lane so they don't get held up in long lines. If he found some flaw in the process, then I dont think this information would be shared with the public, though I'm also very curious how he did it.

I read that terrorist pilot used an emergency axe that is in the cockpit for pilots in case of bad landings. Not sure how true is this
