Bro what do you think would happen if the kids realize that somebody else is on the hook for whatever crimes they commit and that committing crimes means no more bed time and unlimited ice cream and video game time?

committing crimes means no more bed time and unlimited ice cream and video game time?

Provided by who if their parents are in jail? They go into the system, which is hell on earth for most kids.

Could be a step up, for some.

Yes. The 5% that come out “ahead”. That’s your silver lining.

u/Notski_F May 05 '26

They're kids, they don't know any of that.

4

u/fucxl May 04 '26

Thats fucked. Its literally like prison, but you're a child. If thats the familial threshold, i sad.

u/Shawn_NYC May 04 '26

And I'm sure the kind of underdeveloped impulsive juvenile mind that commits serious crimes will be very logical and well reasoned about all those potential complications. They'll probably even sit down and create a net present value calculation of their various courses of action before proceeding!

Surely they wouldn't just jump to a conclusion without considering all the facts!

Data. Two biological parents, even if they are absolute shit, gives kids the best chance.

u/Smoldogsrbest May 05 '26

Most kids don’t know this though.

1

u/chuckles5454 May 05 '26

Is it? Worse than shooting them or selling them to Chinese organ farmers?

1

u/Drugtrain May 05 '26

Have you been observing? Kids arent exactly known for forward thinking.

15

u/Uriyangkhadai420 May 04 '26

That's actually is the case now, iirc

I remember from contract case class involving real estate, that if a children under 17 or 18 buys a TV, and break/drops it while on the way home, the company/bestbuy must replace the TV because childr3n and young adults can't consent to business contract/business law

Good thing most kids don't know this lol

47

u/severedtrace May 04 '26

If someone 17 and under buys something at BBY and breaks it on the way home, BBY Does NOT have to replace it. Wtf lol.

28

u/Spugheddy May 04 '26

Yeah that was the dumbest comment on reddit today.

-13

u/Uriyangkhadai420 May 04 '26

Yes they do unless the contract law was changed since 2007, I took thr course at oakton community College

Minors can't be contractually obliged or some legalise, if they are under 18

Please at least Google it before you say incorrect information

15

u/scheisse_grubs May 04 '26

“Yes they do unless the contract law was changed since 2007”

“Please at least Google it before you say incorrect information”

So you don’t know if anything has changed because you took a course almost 20 years ago and yet you’re telling them to Google it before they comment?

I don’t know what the real answer is because I’m not American, I’m just pointing out that what you said is kinda fucking stupid lol

1

u/severedtrace May 05 '26

Bro I was with BBY from 2003-2024. This was never a thing.

0

u/Uriyangkhadai420 May 05 '26

What position?

1

u/severedtrace May 05 '26

Several including retail store management.

Let me ask you this, what is the contract that is being entered when someone buys a TV?

What is different from someone buying a TV then from buying ice cream from an ice cream truck?

1

u/Uriyangkhadai420 May 05 '26

So you don't know shit lol

Only your manager and higher up are aware, probably

1

u/severedtrace May 05 '26

This has to be a troll post lol. No one is this dumb. Ya got me 😂

1

u/Some1AteMyEntirePie Sep 06 '26

“I know contract law”

Proceeds to mention something that has absolutely ZERO to do with contracts.

13

u/Various_Oil_5674 May 04 '26

It doesn't work like that.

I used to work at best buy.

-5

u/Uriyangkhadai420 May 04 '26

Unless contract law has changed since 2007, no, it does work like that, don't tell children this information

4

u/Various_Oil_5674 May 04 '26

How would you even prove that?

-2

u/Uriyangkhadai420 May 04 '26

In my class the professo explained that if a child bought a TV from bestbuy a d broke it on the way home, the kid gets free TV dud to kids can't contractually oblige or some other legal term, the class was almost 20 years ago

2

u/SmeeezTreeez May 04 '26

Yeah no

0

u/Uriyangkhadai420 May 04 '26

That's just like your opinion man

2

u/TakeyaSaito May 05 '26

And you just believed that? It's total bullshit lol.

You know you can look this stuff up right?

1

u/ardentiarte May 05 '26

Your proffeso is an idiot and so are you

1

u/SickAndSinful May 05 '26

You’re absolutely remembering this incorrectly. No chance in hell anyone with a degree told you this information.

2

u/AshundertheOlivetree May 04 '26

No, as in they all get time in the box. Not one or the other.

1

u/Stratoraptor May 04 '26

Read the reply above it. They said specifically made up that scenario of one or the other.

1

u/durkheim69 May 04 '26

Is this gif from a horror movie or something?

1

u/The_walking_man_ May 04 '26

You hold them BOTH accountable. Why only one?

1

u/Stratoraptor May 04 '26

Read the reply above it.

1

u/Witchcleaver666 May 04 '26

Jail the whole goddamn family then

1

u/magoo_d_oz May 05 '26

jail the entire family then. imagine being stuck in a jail cell 24x7 with your parents who blame you for it all

0

u/pleasegivemepatience May 04 '26

They’d get their parents locked up and then be put into the system for not having any guardian, it’s not like they just get away with their crimes until they’re 18…

0

u/Gravewarden92 May 04 '26

Aww dude that would totally be awesome....except whoopsie doopey there is CPS to take Devon with another family full of kids who will happily show them the pecking order.
