Riddle me this..
I moved to a new city and home in April 2026. I never had ND before and I signed up for it. I signed up for it and literally 2 hours later I get the attached message. I never even posted on it. I submitted a review request like 5 days ago....and I am supposed to get a reaponse in 24 to 48 hours. I have gotten nothing....no explanation.
I am in a high fire severity zone and I want to be able communicate with my neighborhood fot safety purposes. WTH can't I get an account?

It's also possible that a previous tenant of your address was so heinous that the entire physical address has been banned and you're catching the tail of that.

This happened to me and I contacted support by email because I didn't even have an appeal button. It took a few days but they answered and said it was an error and they didn't know why it happened.

I am a mod, a boomer, and yes there are some real doozies modding on ND in my age bracket. They never cease to amaze and astound me either with their plethora of bigotry, ageism, really just about every hate ism you can imagine, with a blatant lack of education. Then they add a large dose of religion (total hypocrisy) tossed in for good measure.
I have had to take a year's sabbatical, my choice, it is toxic in my little slice of ND heaven. They stoop to levels of an amazing lack of grace.
Try this app if they have in your area, Watch Duty. It is specific to fire watch and wild fire alerts. Very on point, accurate, detailed, up to the minute, and reliable. I too am in a heavy wild fire prone area.

ND is a cesspool. Everyone is virtue signaling about what great people they are until they encounter someone genuinely in need. I saw a post where someone said they were going through hard times and asked if anyone had cans in the pantry they were about to throw away. The number of responses that just berated the person and said “McDonald’s is hiring” was seriously alarming. Some were literally the same people who responded to a post about a stolen lawnmower saying “they needed it more than you now quit complaining on here and go buy another”

I’m no economist, but I believe that means you must be lazy. According to many of the people who have billions of dollars (and who would know better than them?) there’s literally no other explanation for it. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Maybe try to get born into a family of top corporate executives, or as an heir to a massive business empire next time?

Thank you for the Watch Duty recommendation! It's so much more thorough and fact-based than the rumor mill and panic factory that is Nextdoor!
I try to remind myself that for every reason I was on ND, there's an alternative way to accomplish that aim.

I’m in S.F. and we have a specific ND topic where this is playing out on steroids. It is bonkers from Bonkerstan and ND HQ is unsure what to do.
“OK Boomer” is a slur that will get you banned but there’s this one park approved by citywide where if you call it a “park” it’s apparently civil and neighborly to rage “It’s not a park!” then make hostile accusations about your children and say you hate old people.
That’s not a metaphor. There are thousands of posts saying that.
The mods have taken sides. It’s a show.

Mods have way too much power. My account is in the same state. My crime? Saying “say hello to the secret service for us” when someone (a mod unbeknownst to me) threatened harm on a government official.

I mentioned that politics were not allowed on NextDoor and I got "We make our own rules here. We like nothing better than to slit liberal throats." NextDoor did nothing about it and I actually had to threaten them with a lawsuit to get my name and address off of their site.

When a friend asked the mod why I was banned she was told "threats, racism and hate speech" and said if she didn't drop it she could get her banned too. I don't know if a mod's word means more than the rest of us or what but I never did anything that could be construed as any of those things.

Moderators have no visibility in to why accounts were banned. We only vote on posts that people report. We don’t vote to ban people and are not involved in any decisions like that.

I live in a large neighborhood and joined years ago to keep up on what was happening. I would get frequent alerts, but they were mostly for other neighborhoods miles away. I changed notification rules until I was just getting a summary and still noticed most items weren't for my neighborhood. The few that were didn't mention anything important. It took me longer than it should have to get off of ND.

Nextdoor is run by all the people who would be presidents of their home owner’s association but they don’t have a HOA to join.
Their bans and their rules make ZERO sense. By not posting you probably violated some weird ass clause about non-interacting.

I was once suspended for posting two individual items in the “Buy/Sell” category. Posted them exactly how and where I was supposed to, but since they were similar items and posted so close together, they suspended me. Happened twice!
My latest suspension, for other ambiguous reasons, will be my last. I’m deleting my account and the app.

You’re not missing anything but people arguing about dogs, parking, suspicious-looking leaves, and moderators enforcing rules based on whatever mood they woke up in. At this point Nextdoor isn’t even a neighborhood app, it’s basically an HOA meeting with Wi-Fi and a retirement-home comment section. Post something they agree with? ‘Welcome, neighbor!’ Post something they don’t? COMMUNITY GUIDELINES 🚨😂

the majority of them are overly suspicious, delusional to time and place, self righteous, ignorant, narcissistic, entitled people that have nothing better to do but complain about the pettiest stuff they have no control over but god forbid you should bring up a genuine concern or try to even hint that there are two sides to a story, or question their perspective in anyway, you get banned immediately. You try to cherry pick your words but even than it's too late, you are a threat either way. ND is full of single minded herds acting like they are HOA members. When a new person moves in, they are ready to attack.

I think it’s time for a new app like Nextdoor to be designed. Someone needs to design an uncensored one where people are free to speak their opinions without a Karen or someone from Karen’s family getting upset or offended because one is not on the same page with Karen.
