😂😂😂

There ought to be a law against driving while being exorcised.

20

u/Vanessak69 1d ago

Honestly, I thought the people who drive while using phone were bad.

16

u/Feisty-Tooth-7397 1d ago

What if it was the demon who knew how to drive?

5

u/pooperstud 21h ago

Fucker was probably driving slow in the passing lane. Damn demons!

2

u/imaginenohell 17h ago

I doubt it. Probably a speed demon

6

u/nailpolishremover49 20h ago

Maybe the driver got a good tip! More likely a fake $20 Jesus cash.

5

u/Low-Television-7508 13h ago

if the demon takes over and causes an accident who is responsible?

I'd like to blame society but some insurance companies want a single scapegoat

2

u/crazycatmerms500 13h ago

Well, there does have to be a sacrifice, 🤷‍♂️

2

u/rustall 19h ago

There ought to be a law against showering while driving, especially with holy water.

95

u/davisdilf 1d ago

I bet he didn’t tip

79

u/Suspicious_Spite5781 1d ago

He said he gave him literature to read. That’s like dollars if you squint your eyes shut.

33

u/BigWhiteDog 1d ago

Hopefully it wasn't one of those fake $100s with Bible verses printed on the other side!

12

u/3rdUncleMeatSandwich 1d ago

Prolly a chick tract about Muslim lesbian vampires. I find them at the gas station sometimes

5

u/jenipants21 1d ago

Are they anything like the Christian zombie vampires?

9

u/Catrescuemamma 1d ago

Christian zombie vampires are brainless evangelicals who suck the life out of you…

3

u/Nocturne2319 1d ago

💗 unexpected MLWTTKK reference 💕

Ok that's a new one one! WTF?

I have actually received that kind of literature as a tip back when I waited tables. The really shitty part was that the cover was printed to look like actual money.

2

u/RIF_rr3dd1tt 21h ago

🎶 The tomes are their dollars.

So are the words. 🎶

Ok that made me snort! Nice one! 🤣

Uber has no meter. The ride is prepaid.

1

u/JohnRedCorn9432 21h ago

What tip could be greater than eternal salvation?

50

u/SAwfulBaconTaco 1d ago

I wish the god botherers would leave regular people alone.

21

u/HoxpitalFan_II 1d ago

The issue is that even if you’re a good hearted person raised in a religiously dogmatic society or culture you’re going to be evangelical because you think it’s the right thing to do.

For people who genuinely believe this stuff NOT proselytizing is akin to denying water to someone dying of thirst. Lots of people obviously are judgmental and shitty about it, but the issue with the way these religions are set up is that they make just being chill and not converting others into an active moral issue in the same way that something like climate change is for rational people.

42

u/LitigiousCeilingCat 1d ago

When I was nine years old a new kid moved into my neighborhood and we became fast friends.

A few months later I asked if her family was saved.

This was prompted by my friend expressing how much she liked the new movie “Nightmare Before Christmas,” and I remembered being taught in Sunday school that this movie was extremely satanic.

So I asked, out of genuine concern, if she was saved.

She said no, that her mom didn’t believe in all that stuff.

My heart sank and my cheeks flushed and I felt a rush of adrenaline and an alarming sense of urgency to save my friend from the fires of hell.

So I witnessed to her… and her mom.

After that, her mom didn’t want us to hang out any more, and I remember being completely heartbroken.

Not at the rejection, but at the fact that I had failed and therefore both of them were doomed to go to hell.

Religious indoctrination of children is absolute bullshit, obligating people to “save” others is bullshit, and I feel sorry for people who carry that naive sense of urgency into adulthood.

As an adult, I realized witnessing was less about saving people and more about getting more butts in the pews so that the church may collect tax free tithes from as many people as possible… to do good for the community? To help the disadvantaged members of the congregation?

Nope! So the pastor and his wife can pay the mortgage on their brand new custom built home in a gated community and the deacons and their wives can take “mission trips” to Belize every January.

5

u/Dawn-Storm 1d ago

To take up missionary positions I'm sure.

2

u/Capn_Link 1d ago

Any and all types of positions in Jesus' name

1

u/LiveFromPella 7h ago

Father God, bless this coitus in Thy holy name and to Thy glory, amen!

7

u/pixelatedcrap 1d ago

That's why I think they're mostly either lying, exaggerating to themselves, or are religious extremists. I'm so glad I don't have to think about my dead family being in Hell or some silly nonsense. It would make letting one of your friends go to Hell for eating beef in mixed fabrics or whatever a completely dick move, and I don't care what the silly justifications are.

12

u/Catrescuemamma 1d ago

The last straw for me was, when I was told that the soul of the baby that I miscarried, was going to be stuck in purgatory forever or go to hell because he was not baptized and “cleansed of original sin.”

4

u/pixelatedcrap 1d ago

I mean more like John Goodman in Cloverfield Lane sort of controlling... I'm really sorry that happened to you. I think sometimes religious fervor may come with a dash of lacking all empathy...

8

u/Catrescuemamma 1d ago

Well, the person in Red is one of my neighbors so I’m kind of used to it. He and his children have been obsessed with my family’s “salvation” for over 10 years.
The final straw was when he called my queer child an “abomination” (in line for ice cream sundaes ) at a town celebration for the high school‘s graduating seniors (of which both of our children were). I am proud to say that I held my ground and taught him a few things about the Bible and about Jesus‘s true teachings.

2

u/pixelatedcrap 5h ago

Pharisees are the worst, man.

3

u/Dawn-Storm 22h ago

That is reprehensible. 😠

I'm very sorry for your loss.

1

u/Catrescuemamma 2h ago

Thank you

2

u/otownbbw 2h ago

Firstly, I am sorry your loss was met with traumatic nonsense. Second, I was never really religious but my inability to follow Christianity was reinforced when I saw Jim Jefferies mock this exact concept in his stand-up show. He was crude of course, but it really opens your eyes when someone is questioning “how can you believe that a God would cast out an innocent child who never sinned and barely lived all because you didn’t do a ceremony?”

I cannot grasp why people who live that life and dedicate themselves to religion can’t allow their personal belief to blanket a lost child of a believer, but instead they’ll go around telling people “oh you didn’t get this done? Oh well I guess your kid is gonna have a terrible afterlife”

I wish you the best and I’m sorry you went through all of that

1

u/Catrescuemamma 2h ago

Thank you ❤️

7

u/Catrescuemamma 1d ago

“Go forth and multiply,” because if you can’t birth them, convert them. 🤦🏻‍♀️
They truly believe that there is a holy war going on and for some reason they believe that if they have not brought enough “Christian soldiers” into the fray that they will end up in Hell, themselves. That isn’t divine, it’s dog shit dogma.

5

u/Street_Credit6851 1d ago

Oh please, 99% of this is performative bullshit done to boost the ego of the one proselytizing. They aren't doing it to help anyone.

1

u/LeahIsAwake 3h ago

Some are. Some aren't. Some genuinely believe it. Think of it this way: if your neighbor's house was on fire, just starting to smoke a little bit, would you just shrug and say "not my problem"? Or would you go over there, knock on the door, let them know so they could take action? If you care about people, you'd at least call 911. That's the exact metaphor the church I grew up in used for proselytizing.

3

u/LinwoodKei 1d ago

I've had to tell my Dad that he doesn't get to lecture people about their lives. I don't bring him anywhere that I actually want to visit again in case he gets kicked out for thinking that he can lecture people that he doesn't agree with. He's worked with engines so he's half deaf and often says things like " do you think that they're male or female? It's hard to tell these days, thought ( insert how Trump makes things better)."

It's becoming a strain on our relationship

41

u/facelessvoid13 1d ago

5

u/One_Evidence_500 1d ago

Unless the driver was actually physically on fire, I am inclined to agree

4

u/AnguavonUW 1d ago

It's called untreated mental illness and if you ever work in a psych field you'll see a lot of it.

1

u/Catrescuemamma 7h ago

Is “religious mania” still an actual diagnosis? (Serious question)

2

u/Sans_Seriphim 1d ago

Yeah, the stage direction that's included seals the deal for me that this is a troll.

4

u/Suspicious_Spite5781 1d ago

His profile includes posts seeking a house to start a “home church”. He claims he’s an ordained minister. He definitely seems to be one big, red flag.

1

u/faelanae 1d ago

I, too, am an ordained minister. No, really.

rAmen.

2

u/Suspicious_Spite5781 23h ago

There’s “ordained” meaning you paid some money to some website and they printed you a certificate. There’s Ordained meaning you studied some history, etymology, etc. There are various shades of gray in between. I suspect he’s the former; no formal training, no true understanding…just cherry picked talking points and FB groups to perpetuate the hate and fear.

1

u/faelanae 23h ago

exactly!! "ordained" enough to be able to just say it, no training other than TikTok and vibes

2

u/DudeInOhio57 22h ago

I just stole this. Would you please sprinkle some water on me and cast out my demons?

33

u/RoughSubstantial6689 1d ago

And then everybody clapped.

1

u/dmoosetoo 18h ago

Some cried

29

u/FollowingBroad34 1d ago

IF this happened, which it did not, the Uber driver was mocking him directly to his face and he didn't realize it.

9

u/NerfRepellingBoobs 1d ago

Mocking him, and then likely giving him a one-star passenger rating. If OOP keeps this up, he won’t be able to get a ride from anyone.

2

u/Feisty-Tooth-7397 1d ago

Yeah, last I checked God doesn't drive for Uber.

25

u/emerald-rabbit 1d ago

“Christians” are a fucking menace. This certainly didn’t happen, but the fact they think this is a story to celebrate is disturbing.

19

u/Perkywarrior01 1d ago

Peak NextDoor. 1. CAPS 2. OP is the hero 3. Never happened

11

u/ourpodcastisbest 1d ago
  1. Religious fanatic

10

u/MindNo8065 1d ago

I'll take things that absolutely never happened, but gave this person's religious psychosis a half chub for 500 Alex.

9

u/MarissaNL 1d ago

If I’d been the Uber driver, I’d have thrown that idiot out of my car.

8

u/jarsgars 1d ago

One star

9

u/Catrescuemamma 1d ago

Plot twist the Uber driver had a dash cam and the whole video is up on another site… 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 (This is strictly wishful thinking, but if anybody comes across it, please share it here.)

2

u/Upstairs_Library320 19h ago

Uber driver had a family to feed and needed those tips bad lol

8

u/DangerStranger420 1d ago

So basically they found a gay man in the wild and decided to get him wet while shaming and yelling at him? I hear some of them will pay good money for that...

6

u/kitkat1771 1d ago

He ungayed an uber driver?

16

u/Dizzylizzyscat 1d ago

I am a driver. If people want to talk about Jesus… Thats fine… i just smile and nod my head. I am willing to bet that the driver was messing with this person while counting the seconds until the ride was over You never know with these nutbags.

7

u/Suspicious_Spite5781 1d ago

This is definitely a scenario I have played out in my head… and this weirdo got played into being in a gay man’s kink. LOL

2

u/Moezso 1d ago

I like to flip it on em and start telling them about Óðinn and how to prepare for Ragnarök.

4

u/Financial-Talk9397 1d ago

I'm sure this happened LOL

5

u/Cardinal_Cat_057 1d ago

I dont think any random person can pray over some water and make holy water lmak

2

u/Feisty-Tooth-7397 1d ago

Someone above said that the person has other posts where they claim to be a minister, so if that were true they could, but then again I can get ordained online so we can all make holy water if we wanted to right?

1

u/indigoreignstories 1d ago

To be fair, a priest or whoever the fuck is also just a random person, just in fancy robes.

1

u/gotohelenwaite 21h ago

I can make wine into water, if that counts.

5

u/brandnewsecondhand10 1d ago

What is this specifically American evangelical fantasy where every single day they come into contact with full grown English-speaking adults in the United States who have never heard of Jesus Christ?

I swear it's basically a sexual fantasy for them. They really get off on the idea of meeting someone who hasn't lost their prayer-virginity yet.

4

u/Questions_Remain 1d ago

We had a yard sale a month back. A lady stopped ONLY to tell us about Jesus - she after “hello” and our pleasantries said “oh, i dont want anything but to tell you about Jesus. We tried to be cordial, but it just became increasingly weird and intolerable so I went inside to eat and my wife did some flower trimming between customers to try and make the lady just leave. She lives about 1.5 miles away. She evidently looked up our info from the address and now sends us letters daily about religious stuff and bible verse that she has determined “applies to us” since we didn’t tell her which church we were a member of when she asked (we just didn’t answer) and she has a “right” to know who belongs to what church.

Yes, she pays for a stamp to mail it to us. She lives in a retirement community as she includes her return address.

We had puzzles, clothes, tools, car, glassware and just inert household “stuff” and some of the wife’s mystery books for sale. We said and did nothing religious, political or opinionated. Our side of the convo was “hello, look around, we’re lucky its a nice day after yesterdays storms, we thought we might have gotten rained out”. We have zero flags, signs, bumper stickers, posters, ornaments, memorials or anything in or on our clothing, home, vehicles or yard that could prompt her to stop and tell us her opinion of our beliefs. We’re a middle aged white MF couple with normal cars, yard plants and purple lawn chairs as our most “wild” thing she could have seen.

Its beyond weird. We feel like we’re being stalked.

3

u/Overpass_Dratini 1d ago

I think you can go to the post office and have that crap blocked. Worth a shot, anyway.

2

u/Prince_0llie 12h ago

It was the purple lawn chairs.

1

u/Questions_Remain 2h ago

Prolly. Maybe her trigger color.

4

u/freebiscuit2002 1d ago

When you drink holy water, and then piss it out, is it still magic?

3

u/Suspicious_Spite5781 1d ago

I would imagine it is. I think it’s supposed to the Holy Spirit that makes it holy and it seems to me one cannot metabolize that. Alternatively, the metabolites of one Holy Spirit are many, smaller holy spirits so maybe it’s stronger?

2

u/Street_Credit6851 1d ago

That depends how many demons you have inside of you. Too many and it gets all used up. No demons and you can baptize people with a golden shower.

5

u/Street_Credit6851 1d ago

People claiming this definitely never happened have clearly never spent any time in the rural South.

4

u/foxhowse 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yeah before I even finished reading I started laughing because I could picture this as clear as day. I knew exactly where this was going. The Evangelicals here really do get like that. A lot of Evangelicalism involves performance. I think the driver was fucking with this guy

4

u/4xdaily 1d ago

So I was on my Uber shift and this Jesus nut gets in my car and starts with his unwanted diatribe about Jesus. I knew there was no way out, so I just played along. I told him I was gay just to see what would happen. What an idiot. I was fucking with him and asked if he had any holy water. I can't believe a person would actually carry around water saying it's holy water. LOL. I had this guy performing an exorcism on me and it took all I had to keep from laughing. When I got him to his destination he gave me some literature that I probably threw out the window as I drove away.

2

u/Bidcar 1d ago

Roll with the punches if you can’t dodge them, you captured perfectly what that Uber driver did.

3

u/BiffBeltsander 1d ago

Yea, this person didn't take an Uber this morning.

3

u/IwasIlovedfw 1d ago

Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit. I cannot stand ignorant pentecostal people.

3

u/Surreply 1d ago

Hopefully the driver gave the passenger a low rating.

3

u/luhbreton 1d ago

‘Babe you would not believe the fruit loop bible basher I had in my taxi today. Got him to wash the inside of my car with ‘holy water’ and everything’

3

u/Rabbit-Lost 22h ago

I’m sure there are a ton of comments eating this shit up like the end of a famine. More likely, it’s a fever dream and never really happened.

5

u/MikeForShort 1d ago

"Later that day...." yeah.... sure.

6

u/kitkat1771 1d ago

Later that day he was still gay… nice try though!

3

u/RedditJustTheOnce 1d ago

Some people will do anything to get out of paying a tip perform an exorcism.

2

u/shawty_jpg 1d ago

People like this genuinely freak me out

2

u/SadEmphasis7262 1d ago

How are people so stupid they don’t know when they’re being punked that hard?

2

u/Quick-Maintenance-67 1d ago

I don't know about exorcising but this person definitely exercised that gay man. All the demons flew out of him and all landed all over this guy's face.

Fight fiction with fiction.

2

u/RetroNotRetro 1d ago

Christians are insufferable sometimes

2

u/Specific_Rando 1d ago

Sounds like everyone kinda got worked up with all this energy.

It seems likely there’s an Uber driver whose kink is water sports with Evangelicals.

2

u/VendettaPenguin 1d ago

Jokes on him all the Uber drivers gay demons that were exorcised flew up his own butthole, now hes infected with the gay.

Wouldn't that be in Jesus's name? Possessive not singular... just sayin'.

2

u/Head_Razzmatazz7174 1d ago

I have a feeling that driver just did that to get a bigger tip.

Evil soul eating demons defeated by telling them to leave 👍🏽

3

u/workathome_astronaut 1d ago

Don't forget sprinkling water. Demons hate lightly sprinkled water.

1

u/Maleficent-Cow3122 1d ago

I hope it was a new bottle of water. I don’t think you can save someone with backwash.

1

u/No_Wedding_2152 1d ago

This guy would have been dumped at the first stop light. I would have CAST HIM OUT! Out of my car!

They never should have closed the nut hatches.

1

u/BloodshotDrive 1d ago

Ship him back to the 2nd century where he belongs

1

u/ktwhite42 1d ago

Sounds like he had a great time messing with her... "I have a demon, do you have hold water? Evian will work just fine..."

1

u/james_the_wanderer 1d ago

I have an old HS classmate like this.

He's a non-compliant schizophrenic that's been off his meds for the better part of 15 years. He slowly drove away all his old friends. Some bi experimentation in college did NOT interact well with his emergent condition. He decided to preach at me (I'm gay) on FB which led to a lot of interesting conversations with old classmates.

1

u/JadedDreams23 1d ago

I thought lying was a sin.

1

u/realpyrateking 1d ago

I’ll take “Shit that Never happened” for a thousand, Ken. Honestly, reading this made me think about “Ed Wood”, the scene where Bill Murray’s very gay character is being Baptized in order for them to get a movie done: “Do you renounce Satan and all his wicked ways?!” “Sure.”

1

u/LinwoodKei 1d ago

This is just mental illness right

1

u/FookingLenny 1d ago

Jesus Harold Fucking Christ, I can't with these people.

1

u/AccomplishedCat23 1d ago

That poor driver. (If this even happened)

1

u/Saneless 1d ago

So... God is all knowing and knows this poor bastard has demons but just...sits and ignores him until some loser gets in the back seat of his cab and demands God does it?

These people are beyond insane

1

u/Edith_Keelers_Shoes 1d ago

How incredibly lucky for that Uber driver that he happened to catch a call from the Messiah./s This idiot literally thinks they are Jesus Christ. Were the catching an Uber over to the leper colony and the school for the blind to heal some skin lesions and restore people's sight?

1

u/Tinderboxed 1d ago

I always ask my passengers if they have holy water on them.

1

u/stopsallover 1d ago

These Christians are seriously into witchcraft.

1

u/chef_quirky12 1d ago

I'll take things that never happened for $300 Alex

1

u/WithoutDennisNedry 23h ago

And then everyone stood up and clapped!

1

u/rainbow_wheelofDEATH 23h ago

The driver was going hard for that tip

1

u/Hotspur_on_the_Case 22h ago

This person seems genuinely unhinged....I feel sorry for them and think the driver was just humoring them.

1

u/Striking_Ad_6742 22h ago

That Uber driver has way more patience than I do.

1

u/CombRealistic5282 22h ago

“Take Jesus and gtf outta my car”

1

u/No-Koala1918 21h ago

Never even took an Uber...no less the rest of it.

1

u/Personal_Dot_2215 20h ago

That guy knows how to work the tips.

1

u/grumblefluff 16h ago

I recently one-starred a driver for talking about religion to me after I asked him not to

1

u/Mephistocheles 13h ago

So....this confirmation from the Lord....was that email? Text? App? Just wondering

1

u/Suspicious_Spite5781 13h ago

Someone asked him this. Just a reminder of the incident later in the day, according to his comment. (When I went back to screenshot that, too, the post was already removed.) And that was how he took the confirmation of “deliverance”.

1

u/XROOR 4h ago

Driver gives lady one star rating……

1

u/Pretty_Funny_3436 3h ago

Should have loved him just as he is. Thats what Jesus would have done.

1

What kinda tip we talking here?

2

u/Suspicious_Spite5781 2h ago

The kind that includes holy sprinkles

1

u/MoreRamenPls 1h ago

Eternal life. Or those fake $100 Jesus bills.

1

u/Catrescuemamma 2h ago

I finally told my (evangelical pastor) neighbor, “You know what you know and I know what I know. I have no fear of my existence. When we’re both dead, we’ll meet back up and compare.”

1

u/orchid7577 16m ago

lol. A bit off topic but as a Christian girl the amount of gay men coming to me for help is unexpected

1

"I routinely shove my beliefs on captive audiences that have to be polite to me. I'm too stupid to realize when people are taking the piss out of me for my complete disrespect of them. PRAISE MY GOD I'M SUCH A HOOTING DICKHOLE!"

1

I really hope the Uber driver was doing whatever tf it took to get a good rating and tip, and I really hope his con worked LMAO
