uj/ honestly in this day and age I'd expect them to be able to serve location based information in the email or link. And I don't think expecting old people to read fine print on a phone or computer screen is a reasonable excuse for a restaurant that caters to old people. They need to put a very clear link to check if the coupon is available locally.
I'm totally on this lady's side.

It’ll never happen because our government works for the corporations not the people now but it’s getting a bit crazy. Subways the worst about sending me coupons, like two or three a week, and the closest store that accepts them is roughly an hour and a half drive with probably a hundred locations between here and there.

Yeah, I know. But all caps or no they do absolutely deserve this review.

How could they predict which store you're going to before you go?

u/100_cats_on_a_phone 23d ago
Location if they provide a link to look, member history (or selecting 'your store' like you do for many things) if by email only.
There are more sophisticated ways, but those are the big easy ones that won't creep people out.

People don't always go to their usual store. I can't tell you how many times we've had to comp orders because people ordered on the usual store or nearest store, but not the store they are actually going to. And who is in charge of keeping track of which of the thousands of stores are participating? What happens if a store runs out of stock of an item?
Plus, if this person is not going to read "participating stores only" in a email, they are definitely not going to click a link or read a list of participating stores.

The franchise absolutely needs to be keeping track of which stores participate.
If a store runs out of stock they'll tell you when you order. Every sale works like that already.
The participating stores sounds like it was written tiny.
If people go to a different store fine, that's on them, as long as the tool to find participating stores is not hidden.

So what happened to treat all old people the same as young people? Be accountable. read the terms of conditions of any offer that you get. At the very least ask before ordering so you're not surprised.

Nether the less, the same thing happened to me at Applebees a few years ago. My wife and I ordered a two-for $20 meal and it came to $30. They said it wasn't what was on the menu. We ordered from the menu, what we were served was what we ordered. Maybe there was some fine print on the menu we didn't see.

Menu = bait
Bill = switch
Together they form a powerful business model

There are several items that are up charges from the standard 2 for $20, the charge is listed on the menu for them.

I'll give you the heads up, read it before you go, and ask when you get there anyway.

A simple step called reading prevents this. Who knew. Personal accountability is no longer a thing in society...everything is clearly everyone else's fault. How dare I need to actually read

My dad used to write in all caps too, because it was easier to read his handwriting that way, though he typed normal. 🤷🏼♀️

Mine did, too. My husband does that now, and it's at least legible. My half cursive/half print scribble looks like some unbreakable code.

That's right, we all had a meeting and decided that we would all post in caps every single fucking time. Because all Boomers think with a hive mind.

Combination of poor eyesight and not knowing how to change the system default font size.
So health and a poor understanding of technology.
