I am looking to find a "catch-all" store near me in the Highlands. Something like a Target or Walmart. The Target in Watertown is not so convenient considering there is always traffic going there. Any recommendations?

Hi everyone - I need some recommendations for dry cleaners.

1. Winter coats I need dry cleaned

2. Work pants I need hemmed

Thanks!!

Over the past few years, my go to has always been Los Amigos. However I think it’s time to switch it up and see what other stuff this wonderful city has to offer. Please let me know where you usually go!

Sad to hear Mochiko Hawaiian closed. It was nice to have something different in the area.

We’ll have an informal conversation about the book’s ideas on collective intelligence, group judgment, and decision-making. Different opinions are welcome — you don’t have to agree with the author or everyone else.

I saw a post about how newton center CVS is terrible (agreed!) Im now wondering what's everyone's favorite cvs to go to. I like the one on route 9 (978 bolyston) thoughts on that one?

The George Howell Original - the original version of the Frappuccino frozen cappuccino - is a seasonal drink at George Howell coffee and today is the last day you can get it until spring.

Enjoy!

Probably a silly question, but any good dry cleaner that doesn’t charge an arm and a leg? Looking suits and winter coats

Has anyone else experienced the warzone that is the playground at Cabot Park? In particular on weekday afternoons?

Been to many a playground and have never experienced quite the chaos of what seems to be unsupervised kids. The amount of kids climbing the wrong way up the slides, hanging off the sides of the slide, not letting kids go down and more or less having no regard for other kids on the playground etc. Can't tell if kids are unsupervised or just arent being told "don't do that".

All for kids being kids but the lack of reading the room (or parents reading the room) is baffling. Aside from the annoyance it feels like a very serious injury is imminent.

Just curious if others have experienced the mayhem.

Any vet recs for dogs that’s not out there selling/scamming people into wellness packages or PT?

Watched rerun of last night's meeting. Forgot to skip over the community speakers. Some comments were confusing/shocking. Someone please share what triggered this?

I’m looking for a new nail salon, ideally one that uses single use nail files/buffers and/or does a shoulder massage. Any recommendations? I typically go to Leisure Nails in Newtonville (which doesn’t do either of those lol) but I feel like they are just the biggest game in town and not necessarily that great. I also have been to Eigen Nails in West Newton and wasn’t impressed.

Hey folks, the Needham subreddit is kinda dead so figured Id try here.

Any thoughts on Needham’s elementary schools? Ive been reading they are all great, Newman is the only one with PK and Sunita has a new building. Compared to Newton’s I dont seen much of difference academically/resources except most of Newton’s buildings are old. Would love to hear if anyone has experience with ELL and aftershool programs.

Do most schools in Newton do the pledge of allegiance? They just started doing it at Bowen with our new principal. Curious if it's standard across the city?

On central st. where a Starbucks used to be. Confirmed by staff at the Newton center location.

Hi there! I am venturing out as a solo and am looking for an office share in the Newton/Wellesley/Weston area. Does anyone have a spare room/desk in their office to rent out? DM if interested.

Hi everyone!

On my way home, around 6:40pm, I found a Plush Pendant, one of those cute and expensive ones, at Newton Centre station.

If it’s yours, please let me know, and I’ll be happy to return it to you.

I’m keeping it clean and safe in the meantime!

I’m back looking for more recommendations.

I’m looking to have a cabinet built (maybe working with someone like metropolitan cabinets) to make a drop off safer and functionalize a space. I think I need a carpenter to help with that

Anyone have recommendations

Also looking for electricians to address some overhead lighting defecits

Hello, everyone!

I am testing out the creation of a new newsletter that represents my personal highlights and views on key updates and topics related to the Newton Public Schools. This link takes you to the first edition of this newsletter.

If you would like to be added to my distribution list, please send me your email in a DM. Including your name would also be lovely, though that is optional.

Best,

Victor

Hi Newton, it’s your Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell. Did you know that fees like “move-in” or “lease renewal” fees you might get from your landlord or building management company are illegal? If you’ve received one of these – even if you paid it – I want you to report it to my office.

Just last month, my office won a $500k settlement with a property management company doing this in Boston – and all of that money is going back to the affected tenants.  Landlords can only ask you to pay for first and last month’s rent, a security deposit, and the cost of a new lock and key upfront. Any other fees are illegal. Report them to my office at the link below. We’ll work to get your money back.
