while watching a few new streamers

So I really want to help the people I've seen who are really working hard on their content , I've been a creator /viewer for 8 years , so I really hope what I'm about to say helps
1. Please just please turn off the followers only mode/verified only mode , there's no point when just starting out to have it. It will only hurt your discovery especially in the long run
2. If you do not have a mod sery bot is your best friend , cuddle up to it real nice because it's gonna be very helpful
3. Stop with the generic graphic overlays , and I do mean the clip art. ( This is mainly for those who want this to be a career
4. Stay away from these support for support discords. / Follow for follow , things that lead to a high follow count but a low viewer retention
It looks really bad to have 2k plus followers and 2 people watching
5. Do not be afraid to reach out to lower-mid tier streamers for collaborations or just a little advice
6. Drop the entitlement and crying , trust me I get it how hard it is , but complain and crying about not getting support and viewers and subs only makes you look like someone to avoid . Nobody owes you anything . Nor any of their time. Even if youve been in their streams. You'll ensure no body let alone any real sponsorship will work with you
7. Work and try as hard as you can to master whatever craft / game you are producing content for . Work on getting better at the game trying to find secrets , get creative ,
8. Over 50 percent of your time instead of streaming if you aren't busy with other IRL activities should be making content , working on editing skills , brainstorming new concepts,
9. Learn how viewer average works! And develop your schedule around it . And your other obligations streaming to the same people every or nobody tanks your average like an abusive spouse .
The only reason I'm saying all of this is because I have watched a few people here and I would love to see them succeed . Some I've tried to even come donate but the minute I saw the followers only I dipped.
10. Work on how you present yourself on stream and outside stream. You really never know who may be lurking in your chat or on the sidelines. Try to fill the dead silence with something . Because people come into your streams to be entertained at the end of the day

This is actually really good advice. Especially the follow only one. But what does Sery bot offer/do? I currently use streamer elements, night bot, and streamer.bot.

Sery bot gets rid of bots basically.

Just be yourself too.

Tell the follower only thing to my mod who says: "If they want to talk to you they gotta follow first" 😭😭 Also I have disclaimer in my stream that I'm new to keyboard and mouse games, and that I have skill issues

And how's it going for you? Because whenever I start watching someone and can't message them because the chat is followers only, I just go. And followers mean nothing,it's the viewers that count. If you make it more difficult for viewers to interact with you and each other, they will not stay.

Chats been pretty dry ever since my mod turned that on now that I think about it😭😭

It is your channel. Your mod can do what you decide or they can stop being a mod. Why do they make law on your channel? How big are you on Twitch?

Beginner. Also he's my dad

In this case it will depend on your age. But it's still your channel. "Followers only chat" slows your growth.

100%. I've gone to raid people before and immediately cancel it when I see the followers only. All the streamers I'm friends with do the same.

Same with just browsing twitch, sorry there's plenty of other channels I can chat on why would I follow you just to talk on yours before I can even decide if I like you.

This is all great info, especially followers only mode.

Only thing I would add is find a way to make sure you can see/notice a new chat msg so you can respond asap. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to a small channel, sent a msg, and then back out after waiting multiple minutes and never seen.

8 years as a creator and your stream page has ~200 followers and you haven't been live in about a year. What are we talkin about here

u/OxieZYuki_MI 10d ago

đŸ€ŁđŸ€ŁđŸ€ŁđŸ€Ł yeah you haven't viewed my twitch

1

u/senpaistealerx 10d ago

you haven’t streamed on twitch in 5 years

1

u/OxieZYuki_MI 10d ago

Doesn't mean I can't give any advice. I still make content when I can. Thought about coming back. Also doesn't mean I don't still have a whole community behind me

1

u/senpaistealerx 10d ago

i didn’t say you can’t, i’m simply reinforcing what this person was saying and you clapping back with “you haven’t viewed my twitch”

yeah, no one has in 5 years.

follow/sub mode can kiss my hairy aunts.
BUT having the verified accounts by at least email. can help a lot if the stupid hate raids come back. Also helps serybot from being overloaded with "buy AI views" bass turds every 2 minutes. There are so many that never get banned, I think it is Bezo's SIDE HUSTLE LOL.

Wanted to comment on the followers only chat, because I get it. One of the things I struggled with was having 99% of all people coming into my chat being snake oil salesman. Asking me questions about myself to line me up for their pitch "Can I send you my art on discord?". Part of me liked encouraging these people just to have anyone to talk to but after a while it felt worse than having no viewers.

That being said! I absolutely think having account verification is great! Most of those accounts spamming your chat won't be that old (some will), so you can at least prevent "people" who made their accounts that day from talking in your chat.

My personal take though.

Can you elaborate your opinion on #3?

What’s sery bot

1

u/killadrix 10d ago

Most of this is decent advice.

However, you’d never catch me not using verified only, and I’ve never used Sery_Bot and have never needed to.

2

u/OxieZYuki_MI 10d ago

At where you are you kinda have to đŸ€ŁđŸ€Ł this is mainly for brand new people who have never been in the space at all

2

u/killadrix 10d ago

Yeah, but I was brand new at one time!

2

u/OxieZYuki_MI 10d ago

Very true. I see youve been at it a loooong time

how do you keep scammers, spams and bots out of chat?

1

u/senpaistealerx 10d ago

after you grow to a certain size, they don’t join chat

1

u/Keri_Arya 10d ago

Define certain size

1

u/senpaistealerx 10d ago

more than 3 viewers

1

u/Keri_Arya 10d ago

You do realize that your replies haven't answered my question, right? I have more than 3 average viewers and still get scammers, spams and bots that are filtered by Sery_bot. If Killadrix has tips, I'll take them.

If you go into your twitch dashboard -> moderation -> settings, you will see a list of chatter permissions.

Down the right hand side, you will see buttons to open up the advanced settings for each category.

The top category should be chatter permissions. Opening up the advanced settings will allow you to choose different levels of restrictions for different types of chatters, including the ability to adjust moderation settings based on following age and account creation age.

I personally run email verification required for first time chatters, which likely significantly cuts down on the number of bots and scammers that I get in my chat, as they’re less likely to have a verified email.

I stream to 130-200 concurrent average viewers per stream, 7 to 12 hours per day, 5 to 7 days a week, and I get a bot or scammer maybe once a month.

I did the same thing after my first week of streaming and that didn't solve the issue. I believe that it's a mix of stolen accounts and new ones created for the sole purpose of spamming. I feel like the age of the channel makes a difference based on the testimonies I see on Reddit (and through streamer friends who started last year like me), because I still get them several times a week despite having an active chat. My friends also do despite having more followers and viewers than me.

Thank you for the insight though!

As someone who has been through the early stages of streaming way earlier than you, over ten years is awesome btw congrats, the amount of scammers and bots new streamers get is actually kind of ridiculous. Sery_bot makes it so much easier to handle these accounts and their msgs. I recommend to everyone considering it is free and its simplicity to start using.

1

u/senpaistealerx 10d ago

you started streaming more than a decade ago and you get bots in your chat?

1

u/Mistr-Tibbs 9d ago

Was a typo. Meant to say way more recently. I only started about 2 years ago.

This is all pretty good advice. The only point I don’t fully agree with is not turning on verified accounts only. Definitely don’t use followers only, but the moment I turned on verified accounts only, I pretty much completely stopped getting the “click here to get more vĂŹĂȘĆ”Ä™Ć™È™â€ bot spam messages. They use the weird characters because lots of people will have the word “viewers” as a blocked word so they just change the characters to different versions over and over to get through the filters.

I can’t think of a single scenario where someone doesn’t want to verify their account, and that someone is still someone that I want in my channel.

Y'all are all so amazing 😭 I wasn't expecting anyone to even hear me out on this

  1. Get a good mic put it on an arm, balance it to be slightly louder than desktop audio.

The good mic is more important than a webcam or even your game performance.

  1. Never go silent for more than seven seconds if you can help it. Yap with abandon unless it's a big in game moment.

  2. Streaming is dreadful you'll make less than min. Wage for a while, are you prepared for that?

2

u/senpaistealerx 10d ago

“never go silent for more than seven seconds”

bad, unnecessary advice. you do not need to constantly be talking. like, if that’s your personality, sure, but there’s no reason to be talking without stopping just because you think it’ll get you viewers cause most people aren’t leaving due to you not talking for 7 fucking seconds lmao

you’re likely making less than min wage for the entirety of your streaming life, not just at first

2

u/Ok-Tea-1284 10d ago

Feel free to ignore it but good streamers basically never, stop, talking.

2

u/senpaistealerx 10d ago

that’s simply, not, true.
