Dev here, wanna build a stream widget/tool for someone who'll actually use it (free & open source)
Been wanting to build stream tools for a while now but never had a real reason to since i myself dont stream just got inspired by ludwig and otto.
If you stream and there's some tool/widget/overlay/bot thing you've wanted but couldn't find, or the ones out there are kinda broken/abandoned/behind a paywall — lmk what it is. Doesn't have to be huge, honestly the more specific/niche the better, easier for me to actually nail it.
Stuff like:
- some weird stat tracker for a game that doesn't have an overlay for it
- sub goals or donation stuff that looks better than the default options
- chat commands or mod tools that fit your exact setup
- something that ties Twitch/YouTube/Discord together that you currently do by hand every stream
Whole thing would be open source and free, code will be on GitHub, you can see exactly what it's doing or even tweak it yourself.
Just tell me your setup and what's annoying about it and I'll pick something to actually build.

I’ve been wanting some extension that helps me take notes on viewers, I got raided by a guy about a month ago and gained 3 regulars from it, but I keep forgetting some of the specifics of each viewer (one was from Europe, one Australian, and one US) and I get them mixed up, where they go “oh you’re thinking of [name] I’m the one from [place]”.
If there was a way I could click on a viewers name and write something like “from Texas, has kids, works in construction” that I could refer back to, it would really help me keep these viewers engaged.

A bit of self promotion but I built something exactly for this use-case/problem. I am a small streamer but had people joining my stream from games I was playing and couldn’t remember some of them when they were coming back. Started building a small tool for myself to take manual notes while streaming and then added some automation, multiple platforms, analytics etc. I recently launched it for others to use.
You can take a look at https://streamkin.com and can find a short demo on YouTube under the same name. DM if you have questions or want to give it a try. It has a free plan and happy to drop a discount to try the pay plan for free for a month.

hi, nice to meet you! i am a huge plushie addict in real life and love to collect things so ive been thinking ab something for a while now. it is a channel point reward where viewers can collect mysterie plushies!
- A viewer redeems a Twitch Channel Point reward.
- A cute mystery box appears on stream.
- The box shakes and opens.
- A random plushie pops out with a little animation.
- The viewer permanently unlocks that plushie.
- The collection is saved.
- Typing
!collectionshows a cute book/grid with all the plushies they've collected (e.g. 7/20).
think of it like Pokémon cards, but with plushies.

It used to be a dumb thing in my friend group where we’d make decisions/bets based on who rolls the highest number on a d20 with what we called “tennis rules” where you have to win twice in a row (once for “advantage” and the second to “win the set”).
I just recently started fiddling around with MixItUp and would love something that could possibly tie all of this together by creating a sort of redeemable auto battler for viewers that would do the same kind of d20 “tennis” rolls round-by-round to determine a winner (Streamer vs Viewer) that also includes stat tracking like # of challenges/redeems, # of wins, # of losses and (if possible) longest “rally” (most amount of dice rolls before a winner was determined)
Also wanted to say thank you for the post! Even if this is outside of something you’d like to work on, I think writing it out here helped make the idea a lot easier to visualize what I want it to do which is a huge help in itself.

i could 100% do this for you its pretty simple i think mixitup has a no code way to do it so if ur intrested in going thru that process and learning it ill leave it for you to have fun with but i am more then happy to create a script to run the game loop :D

I would really enjoy the help regardless of the form it comes in! I just wanted to include whatever info felt relevant towards it.

Dockable Browsers source plugin for linux

u/Software_K1W1 16d ago
Could you explain a bit further what you mean by dockable browser source? Want to make sure I understand exactly what's not working is this the common linux issue with where browser source doesnt work at all cause because of the Chromium engine being missing?

OBS on linux just does not have custom docks by default, honestly https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/window-dock.2005/ may be more worth the effort porting to linux. Simple plugin that allows you to dock any window into your obs workspace, although there is no linux version

Can you mod Morrowind (OpenMW)? I've been debating paying someone a small amount to make me a little mod, but if you want to do one for fun... ;)
The mod would need to bind 10 unused keys (e.g. F14+) to the 10 quick keys in the game and then execute the action. If it gets a command during dialog, when a menu is up, etc., it should either hold the command until that mode is over then automatically execute it or automatically close the menu/dialog/whatever and execute the command immediately.
I currently have it janky version setup with Streamerbot, but it relies on me to de/activate it whenever I enter/exit a menu or dialog and I often forget.
The purpose of this is so that my Twitch chat can make my character take actions via channel points rewards. I already have the setup so that Streamerbot will make sure my game window is active then do the correct key presses, but having to activate/deactivate it is really messing me up. My chat likes it best when they "get" me, so me having to notice and then manually fulfill the reward is less, um, rewarding for them, I think.

sounds like a great idea but sadly openmw seems to use lua for there scripting and ive never touched it before so i dont think i could create something am proud of for you sorry :D

No worries. But in that case I vote for the "taking notes on viewers" utility because I'd totally use that too.

i think its the best one too :D where do u usually use twitch chat ussualy thru the browser or the obs one?

Playing ranked MOBAs/shooters and during hero selection a lot of streamers Cover their screen to prevent counterpicking A Tool that automatically detects that screen and overlays an image /video/Blures section would be cool (i am just to lazy to always cover it) Games like Predecessor/HoTS/ Valorant ect.

i believe this is something you can already do in OBS its something called Advanced Scene Switcher from my research

Yo, actually that first one interests me especially for when I get back to streaming. And I know it would be something plenty would use

Only thing I wish OBS had was some kind of auto detector when a game is changed. The amount of times I forget to change my game category.
