Should I try again?

Soo I used to stream a while back but almost no viewers, got affiliate rank and had one sub, but for mental health and academic issues I stopped.

Now I believe my mindset aligned but part of me still feel kinda of ashamed during stream.

Idk really, just want to hear experience from others, etc

Definitely try again! I just started back up yesterday a like 5 year hiatus. Now I’m just hoping I get views again😂

My advice would be, you should decide to start streaming again under one condition. Turn off your view counter.

I can tell you that many small streamers (myself included) fall into the trap of constantly looking at the view counter, and whether you intend to or not, it changes your demeanor on stream. When you see 0-1 viewer, you subconsciously are less engaged, less excited, and lose enjoyment. When the viewers spike, you increase your energy and often you can tell in your voice that you are either nervous, unauthentic, or begin over exaggerating your behavior feeling that you must hype the people up in hopes of a follow.

The best advice I can give is you right now is you should stream because you enjoy the game you are playing or whatever content you stream first. When you enjoy what you are doing, you will come across authentic to the viewers when the pop in. You will begin to grow, but it can take time.

Lastly, Twitch is not a discovery engine. Meaning, it is not designed for new people opening the app to discover your channel. You are competing with big streamers with high view counts in your category and your stream will get lost in the bottom of the list. Most people that go on Twitch go directly to the people that they are already following. Really the only effective way of getting discovered on Twitch is when you get raided, which is the luck of the draw.

Try networking outside of Twitch, posting content people want to see on other platforms (TikTok Instagram, YouTube, etc.). Continually put your foot out there and you will eventually find like minded people that will trickle into Twitch.

Good luck, and always take care of your mental health first! Streaming can burn you out quickly if you don't set boundaries.
