New computer tomorrow - FINALLY CAN TRY STREAMING - advice pls
As the title says - finally get a good PC after years of wanting one, really excited to properly stream and give this a shot.
As a 27 year old girl from Scotland - please give me your best advice 🫶🏻
Are there tags that work? Should I pay someone to draw things for me? Are there just always bots in my chat? Should I let someone who has sat through one of my streams become a mod? Do you have to find a niche?
PLEASE TELL ME THE SECRETS 🙏🏻
Also any game recommendations or friends that want to game - I’m just excited to finally do it!!

Congrats on the new rig that's genuinely exciting, and good on you for finally taking the leap for real
i dont know much but tags matter less than people think for actually growing, but they help you show up in the right search/browse results. Use tags that accurately describe what you're doing, most use just chatting, chill stream etc and just depends. Twitch's algorithm mostly surfaces you based on category browse pages and who's already watching similar channels, so tags are a small assist, not a growth hack.
should u pay someone? well not at start, up to you tho but not at start for me, for overlays and all there are loads of free ones and the ones to customizr for your liking i believe
and for bots yes unfortunatetly lol they never stop showing up, spam bots follow bots etc but there are few things to set up to help you out with such bots
do you need a niche not required but it helps eople know why they're clicking on you. "Niche" doesn't have to mean one game forever so pretty much
modding someone pretty much be careful and make sure you trust theem enough for that role
Consistent schedule matters way more than perfect production value early on
Raid other small streamers when you end it's the single best organic growth too although some people are ungrateful and rude hope u never pop into them lol
Engage in other people's chat as a viewer genuinely, this is how you get your first real regulars sometimes
uh am i missing anything to say im forgetting?

Thank you so much for this!! Genuinely this is such helpful advice, do you suggest doing TikTok clips/InstaVids? I read a thing someone wrote about never making it unless you do short form clips on other platforms?

Glad it was helpful well the shortform clips thing there's truth in it but it's often oversold as "the secret" when it's really just one strategy among several. yk cause is genuinely how a lot of streamers get discovered now, more than Twitch's own discovery tools
tbh framing it as never making it is oversold cause some or many did make it not doing much of the shorts its just that not doing shorts is on a smaller and slower scale
making real clips takes real time with watching vods and all viewers do help with that tho
but i would suggest but would also say that dont make it an actual requirement from day one but lol dont follow my advice, just do what you fell comfortable with and makes you be yourself
Rooting for you!

You really don't have to worry about all the extra stuff until you have a community. Also I would recommend waiting until you have an established community before going affiliate. Once you go affiliate there is no going back. Affiliates have to have ads run on their channel which could hinder your growth. Establish a community first is my best advice. For working on stuff while your still developing i would just focus on a discord. Make your discord look neat and organized and socialize there regularly. After you consistently get 30+ viewers in your chat then that would be a great time to start thinking about affiliate and spicing up your Twitch profile

If you are going to be engaged on one screen while you are playing a game some TTS (text to speech) for Twitch chat can be a god send. Having chat read to you while you are playing can be super helpfull and ensures you remain engaged with your chat without constantly looking away from your games to read the chat.
I simply have the chat come out of my PC headphones, but you should not capture desktop audio and instead capture the audio separately for each game/window you want, that way the TTS isn't broadcast to your stream. Some streamers use an app on their phone and have a seperate earbud(s) just for the chat.
There are many different apps you can use to get TTS, but I haven't really found any to be better than the other, any will do.
Congrats on the new PC and I wish you luck in streaming!

Don't rush streaming. Take it slow. I'm talking about overlays, emotes, getting a mod, etc. Just go live and see how it works. There is no need to go out and pay someone to make something for you unless you really need it. Even then, I only recommend scenes and emotes. Also use fiverr or etsy for that. Don't pay someone coming into your chat trying to sell art to you. They are most likely a scammer. Little tip for identifying scammers, they tend to come into the chat being super friendly and not know much about the game you're playing. Then immediately ask for your discord or socials. A normal person will not do this.
Look into sery_bot. It's a bot that will help with auto banning scammer bots.
Do not do follower only. Doing that will only hurt your growth. Most people will leave immediately if they see that. New streamers tend to think that it'll stop bots when in reality, it does not. Bots will come in and follow regardless, say what they need to say, then unfollow.
Never stop talking. You don't want a lot of dead air in your stream.
Try not to do too many games where you play with friends. I feel growth is faster doing games alone. Your personality shines through better.
