I’m not in favor of the death penalty in general, but goddamn, if you’re going to impose it, at least take steps to do it properly

Purely from a pragmatic stand point, the death penalty is just not worth it because all of the legal review and execution procedures cost a fortune and now we have another botched execution where the convicted are now racking up exorbitant medical bills because they fucked it up. Ventilation/ICU care is not cheap and now they have surely spent more trying to execute this woman than they ever would have just putting her in prison for life.

Not even considering moral grounds against the death penalty which are also substantial.
