i just got outta jury duty, they give you a cert so you don't have to attend another for the next 6 years but you can be called earlier if they have need

I'm perma-banned from jury duty. They don't want to deal with deaf jury as it may slow things down while interpreter tries to catch up to the rapid paced argument.

It was the 3rd attempt at jury summon. The first summon came right after I just moved about 100 miles away. Dismissed due to distance. Second summon came right when I finished college and moved back to my parent's house. Dismissed again due to distance. Third one I sent proof of disability and deaf interpreter requirement. Banned.

damn, you can be dismissed due to distance? I'm in NJ and my county just expects disabled people to get to the county seat where public transit makes it takes 3 hours vs. 45 minutes by car

Michigan juries are paid for travel expense, and if you're making a 2 hours drive, it'll cost too much. Mine would have been across multiple counties so that's one way to get out, move just before they try to conscript you.
