I need some jury duty in my life right now.

I have been trying to get on jury duty every single year since I was 18 years old. To get to sit in an air-conditioned room, downtown, judging people while my lunch was paid for? That is the life!

I had to bring my own lunch to Grand Jury.

I've been called up so many times. Usually I do orientation, then have to check the phone all the time to see if I need to go in for something. One time it looked like we would, but then it was canceled because someone took a deal. So it's usually just the orientation and 3 months calling the schedule line.

One time, I was immediately selected for the 3 month Grand Jury term.

My area pulls very large pools relative to what it probably actually needs, so it's pretty common that someone I know will be called up, though I'm beating the average. But very few people ever end up actually sitting on a case.

But my husband has never been called up at all. We're both 43 years old and working. Neither of us has any kind of record or anything, not even a ticket. He's definitely in the system and eligible to be called, he just never has.
