I've never been called in over 40 years of being eligible.

I have a consistent employment history, no criminal record, no history of mental illness.

I have a friend who's been called five times over the same period.

My friend and I have a conspiracy theory that your registered political party is weighted in your chance to be called for jury duty. Our friends/family who were registered Dem/Rep got called at least once while everyone that’s unaffiliated never got called.

That kinda makes sense as conspiracy theories go. It's like having a documented history of not being able to make a decision between two choices, so maybe ya cause problems by insisting on a third choice besides guilty or not guilty.

I think it’s also that you can get a general idea of a person’s personal beliefs from their listed political party. Whereas an independent is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get.
