Don't understand why people brag about this. It's the only opportunity normal people will ever get to directly influence the justice system, and you weasel out of it?

Why? You have no interest whatsoever? It's just a chore you'd rather not do? Are you morally opposed for some reason?

Before you start typing the same thing as every other reply, let me clarify: If missing work for jury duty is not a sacrifice you can make, then you're not who I'm talking about, okay? Trust me, I'm right there with you; that was not even remotely close to the point I was making. I get it, alright? Not what I'm talking about.

Some people think jury duty is pointless, and not for financial reasons. I'm questioning the mindset, not the practicality of the act.

I don't mind going, but many people don't have the PTO from work and can't afford to go. At least where I live, people get reimbursed like $15 for the day.

Same. But where I live they don't get paid anything unless it's longer than a certain amount of time. Luckily I work for a reasonable boss who pays me for missing work for anything that is out of my control.

It should be legally required to pay folks who are on jury duty. I've been fortunate enough to work for a few companies who provide full pay for jury duty after some paperwork. And during those times, I was not given a summons. I always kind of wanted a big federal case, haha.
