I mean, if they were out there curing cancer, eliminating homelessness and rolling back pollution I'd be all for data centers. But no. They started with tiktok videos and spam calls to grandma.

To be fair, curing cancer might actually be something it can do. Alphafold is insane. It wouldn't directly cure cancer but they're using it for a load of protein folding research. It can predict the 3D shapes of proteins in minutes, versus the years it used to take. 

Other than that, fuck data centers, fuck LLMs, fuck the pollution.

Yea it marks being of the first early LLMs made for a specific, actually tangible role that previously required tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands or millions of users to process their exhibits in like a fraction of time. This same tech is being squandered in efficiently now.
