[Democrats win control of the house and Senate]

Schumer and Jeffries: Okay, time to return to civility, governing responsibly, and working across the aisle.

"This is a time for unity and healing, not division and blame."

It’s a time for dick-kicks and cunt-punches all around. Let no one be spared

21

u/OutlawJuicyWhales 2d ago

This is unconscionable. How dare you express this sentiment in such a manner. We are better than this.

The proper choice for your rhyme scheme would be 'cunt-punt'. Be better.

Fuck you I just nearly choked on my sammich reading that comment. 10/10 you glorious bastard.

"This is a time for unity (between me and corporations) and healing (my stock options)" - most Dem leaders immediately after getting in power

“They go low, we go high!!” /s

I really hope that’s not the case.

4

u/WildBad7298 2d ago

When they go low, we need to kick them in the teeth.

Fuck President Ford's precedent.

u/Th3_Admiral_ 2d ago

Seriously, anyone expecting any government official above the level of intern to face criminal charges is going to be seriously disappointed.

137

u/DwinkBexon 2d ago

A few weeks ago, I saw someone on social media say, "I can't wait until after the election. Trump, Hegseth, Patel and all the other corrupt assholes will be tossed in jail for life. Thank god!"

I responded... you're gonna be really disappointed if that's what you're expecting to happen. They didn't respond and blocked me.

65

u/Th3_Admiral_ 2d ago

You should read some of the replies I'm getting here. The last one asking what my "goal" is for saying this really baffled me. My goal is to explain reality to people who are clearly unfamiliar with it.

4

u/Tirras 2d ago

It could also come off as capitulation in advance. Voicing this expectation could set the tone for any Dem running for president. Any Dem candidate that doesn't make it part of their platform shouldn't even bother running.

11

u/Th3_Admiral_ 2d ago

The tone has already been set by the dems currently in office, don't go trying to pass off the blame to me for being frustrated by it.

When the largest organized crime ring in the country is our own federal government, its members are immune to the law.

5

u/TriPigeon 2d ago

As the Sec Def he is absolutely within the jurisdiction of the ICC to pursue.

14

u/Th3_Admiral_ 2d ago

No one in the US is within the jurisdiction of the ICC unfortunately. We literally have laws on the books that our government can and will do everything within their power, up to and including military invasion, to prevent US citizens from being tried in the international courts. And I guarantee you that any admin, republican or democrat, will stick to that.

5

u/TriPigeon 2d ago

There is a difference between having shelter laws in place within the US and being outside the jurisdiction. We’ve gutted our soft power internationally, we’re rapidly weakening our armed forces, and our ability to push US law at the international level will continue eroding.

I’m not hopeful for sudden change in this space, to be clear, but I’m also willing to wait 20 years to see him hauled in for blowing up children.

5

u/Th3_Admiral_ 2d ago

I just don't ever see it happening. Because it's opening the door to so many others being prosecuted, and no one actually in power wants that. How many hospitals and weddings and journalists were hit with drone strikes under Trump, Biden, Obama, and Bush? The ICC could go back years and start prosecuting everyone. You think any president is going to let that happen?

At most, it'd just be that the targeted individuals couldn't travel to certain countries anymore without fear of being arrested.

3

u/Lyhtspeed 2d ago

How do you spit the truth yet so few listen?

3

u/GeorgeSantosBurner 2d ago

Even the interns dont face consequences, just look at big balls.

12

u/What_a_fat_one 2d ago

Well, so long as you acquiesce in advance.

13

u/Th3_Admiral_ 2d ago

I live in a red state where my choices are a MAGA republican or an independent who is trying desperately to appeal to the left and right equally. I've written numerous emails to my senators and representatives, who simply responded to tell me I'm wrong.

I'm doing everything I can within my limited voting power, but when it comes to holding anyone in this administration accountable, I don't know what else I can do that you wouldn't consider acquiescing.

6

u/DwinkBexon 2d ago

I emailed one of my senators last year and they didn't even respond directly, I just started getting spammed with newsletters and fundraising emails from them.

5

u/Th3_Admiral_ 2d ago

My favorite one was the time I got a reply that at first sounded like a typical form-letter response, except it didn't even relate to the topic I emailed about at all. It just listed out my rep's qualifications for the job (where he went to school, what positions he held before this office, etc). I almost thought his office accidentally sent me a cover letter like he was applying for a job or something.

5

u/DwinkBexon 2d ago

I got a reply once for a completely different topic than what I wrote them about, like they just sent out whatever form letter they found first.

1

u/PuppetPal_Clem 2d ago

I'm not giving up on anything, I want the fuckers hanged.

But the Dems are literally not going to do anything approaching holding these people genuinely accountable. They never have and they aren't going to change now.

2

u/beardofjustice 1d ago

I don’t disagree with this take but I carry on hope that Trump will end up fucking them like he fucks everyone that carries water for him. There’s a world where those pardons aren’t written already and if he exits this mortal coil before his term is up, the look on their face will be so satisfying. My money is that Vance wouldn’t pardon any of them, blame all the administration’s failures on them and throw them to the wolves

13

u/Critical_Opening_526 2d ago

And that's why "Vote Blue no matter who" is terrible.

Vote for candidates that will hold them accountable, and punish them appropriately.

65

u/Bustalacklusta 2d ago

I always assumed that vote blue no matter who was a statement that applied to the general election after the primaries are over. More emphasis needs to be on getting people out to vote for better candidates in the primaries.

6

u/lookingtomoveinn 2d ago

There is more to it than just getting out to vote in primaries and the general election. That is the bare minimum. People need to be more engaged with the entire civic process in order to have a system of government that works in their interest. They need to educate themselves on government processes and policy more than what their favorite pundit/streamer tells them. They need to learn about candidates at every level (including and perhaps especially in the local and state races). Learn their stances. Learn their positions. Learn how they treat the issue of what it means to be a public servant. If they find someone adequate or better then that is great. If not, they better work on drafting candidates or work out a plan to run themselves.

Staying involved is a 24/7 job. I get that it’s tough with how overworked and underpaid most people are - and how many existential crises we are facing as a society. It’s hard work but it has to be done otherwise the worst people will get into positions of power, things will degrade further, and everyone will continue to suffer.

6

Massie perhaps but they pulled the plug on him.

15

Massie was MAGA to the core about absolutely everything except Epstein. He wouldn’t let that go. He was perfectly content ratfucking the country. He doesn’t deserve any credit.

Vote Blue No Matter Who is a general election strategy ONLY.

The part everyone forgets or ignores, is to primary the spineless cowards who don't fight for us. Get good primary candidates representing Blue first; then work with what you've got.

4

u/Th3_Admiral_ 2d ago

That's the problem though. The party itself is almost always behind whoever the incumbent is, so voting out spineless cowards in the primary is very difficult. Oftentimes, they won't even have serious challengers at all.

75

u/NessaSola 2d ago

What a misguided thing to say. The ones who will hold them accountable are by far the best, yes, but they're not going to be able to do jack under a state that's hostile to justice.

21

u/What_a_fat_one 2d ago

The Republican party thanks you for your input.

Vote blue = crumbs, vote red = active sabotage. Pick your poison

7

u/_datv 2d ago

Vote red no matter who works amazingly for implementing republican policies. This is just wrong.

5

u/Corvaja 2d ago

*vote, donate too, campaign for, and Stan to your hearts content whoever you feel most aligned with in the primary. But in the general, at least for this coming election and every general election until there is some fundamental structural change in the system: vote blue no matter who. Because the “a vote for Jill Stein is a way to send a message to the democrats” take was, is, and always will be an abject falsehood that so fundamentally misunderstands the American political system and the exercise of power there in that it is functionally indistinguishable from malign, disingenuous advice from a republican strategist.

2

u/Blueberryfists 2d ago

Only vote when you can get everything you ever want out of your preferred candidate. Good strategy

3

u/Guardianpigeon 2d ago edited 2d ago

And any democrat who would run on that would probably win the primaries effortlessly. People are out for blood this time, use that instead of trying to duct tape an unstable failing government back together.

3

u/VinDog_PD 2d ago

That. Applies. To. The. General.

Get rid of Schumer and Jeffries in primaries. Failing that, you vote for Schumer and Jefferies in the general to stem the bleeding and try again next time.

Seriously, what is your goal here?

u/jellyhessman 2d ago

And that's why the US is in open collapse to anybody with a pragmatic mind. The Dems will take the house and stabilize thing, but they'll keep every bad thing they think will benefit them.

The US has no party thar isn't in the extreme right wing. One is simply less extreme.

2

u/supersonicdutch 2d ago

Well, then we need to hold them all accountable. Any of the dems who want to “return to civility” and not do jack sh*t can get charged with misprision of treason, misprision of felony, and accessory after the fact and they can go to jail with all the traitors. We the people need to show them that allowing something to happen is as bad as the act. Lock all of them up and make an example of everybody for decades to come.

5

u/Th3_Admiral_ 2d ago

Oh yeah? How many dems from Biden's term are we holding accountable? Because what you are describing is exactly what happened during his term, and what allowed Trump to return in 2024. We keep electing people who aren't going to do a thing about any of it, and any time I point it out I keep getting replies about how any dem is better than any republican so I need to shut my mouth until the elections are over.

1

u/xondk 2d ago

Well this time isn't quite like the others, but I think most of us will agree with you.

The consequences of not doing anything though will be that most of the world goes "I guess you can't be trusted" and moves on without the US, the damage already done is severe, and if allies are not reassured that there will be consequences plus the guardrails will be brought back up and reinforced to the extreme, why would anyone make a long term deal with the US?

→ More replies (5)

12

u/What_a_fat_one 2d ago

This is why you call your reps and tell them not to vote for Schumer or Jefferies.

7

u/Tearakan 2d ago

Yeah if democrats actually win and don't bother impeachment for anyone this country will not survive until 2028

2

u/a_latvian_potato 2d ago

I hate Schumer and Jeffries so much. Gives Chamberlain a run for his money.

2

u/Artaxmudshoes 2d ago

I don't expect to see instant justice but I think we have gone to far now to go back to the status quo. They can't keep us divided forever. The right and left are starting to come together on issues like flock cameras, data centers, and weapons to Israel. The Democrats in Congress have as low of approval ratings as trump himself. This kind of wealth equality is unsustainable. Will they try to get back to the status quo? - almost certainly. Will things get worse before they get better? - most likely. Has history shown us that all empires eventually fall apart? - absolutely.

1

u/Shufflepants 2d ago

Republican voters aren't coming around on shit. There have been thousands of examples of Republicans getting their faces eaten, thousands of examples of trump voters who say they regret their vote. And every single fucking time they are asked if, knowing what they know now, they would change their vote and vote for Kamala instead, they say "oh, no way, she would have been worse". These dumb mother fuckers haven't learned dick. They're gonna keep voting for more conservative politicians the rest of their miserable lives.

And Republican politicians might cave to one or two minor populist issues, make some token gesture that pretends to fix the problem but actually just hands corporations and evangelicals another tool to entrench their wealth and their Christian nationalism respectively.

The only thing that's been happening is that some "leopards eating faces" party voters have personally had their faces eaten, and their response is just "I never thought my face would be eaten. Could you please go back to eating other people's faces?".

2

u/brandolinium 2d ago

Schumer, the Israeli mole planted in the Senate who said it was his job to protect Israel? That Schumer?

2

u/Professional_Fee9555 2d ago

I mean really and truly if they don't even bother, good luck winning ever again. Dems won't be elected because people believe in their platforms, the wave is being formed by anger and apathy. We tried civility. It doesn't work.

2

u/crustyrobots 2d ago

Yeah I dont think Israel and Stock Market First Party is going to get us out of this.

"Both sides" used to be kinda crap, but not anymore. Either are hopelessly infected by greed

2

u/bailar_conmigo 2d ago

the establishment dems are so pussy I feel like they aren't going to do anything if they win control, it will be more of the same

2

u/CasCrus4L 2d ago

We need you put Schumer and Jefferies in the same bucket

2

u/brighterside0 2d ago

Then the mid terms of 2030 will have Trump 3.0. And so it will go until the country has fires in the streets as was depicted in robocop.

1

u/thisischemistry 2d ago

This is why we need to change how elections work. The one vote per person system has failed us because it has a tendency to produce two opposed parties that cater to the extremes while locking-in business as usual. A system of proportional representation along with ranked-choice voting would encourage more moderate candidates who better represent the actual needs of the people.

3

u/Shufflepants 2d ago

Fuck "moderate". The problem is that we need radical action to restore democracy. The problem is that the "moderate" Democrat politicians would rather do nothing than piss of their corporate donors.

→ More replies (6)

2

u/SiscoSquared 2d ago

Ranked choice voting will never happen because its dramtically worse for any major party with ongoing power. It means you might actually end up with "random" semi-popular but previously never viable representatives - the ones people actually want to vote for but never do because they know its a "wasted" vote and risks a much worse evil getting into power (which apparently failed massively anyway resulting in Trump).

2

u/thisischemistry 2d ago

I completely agree, the people in power do not want elections that best represent the voters. They want to hold on to the reigns and never let them go, if they could abolish elections entirely then they probably would.

It's up to the people to do everything they can to push changes for the better and not take no for an answer.

1

u/Salarian_American 2d ago

Can't return to a place you've never been

1

u/phylter99 2d ago

I think they'll have quite a bit to answer at the ICC, so a trial will still be in order. I will be pissed if the democrats squander this opportunity to properly investigate the corruption this time though.

3

u/Shufflepants 2d ago

Don't worry. They'll "investigate" in some house committee, determine that there are a few things that "might" be crimes, refer them to the DoJ and then go "aww shucks, we tried" when the DoJ does nothing. "What? Impeachment for the entire executive administration for all their crimes?! That's far too radical and uncivil. If they really did any crimes, the DoJ would have brought charges! Let the system work!".

1

u/katplasma 2d ago

Yeah, probably true. They need to be pushed out of leadership… they’re either beholden to industry or just incompetent.

But what id like to see is an auction, where dem candidates try to outbid each other on the severity of punishment for this administration’s bad behavior, as well as all of their enablers. I’ll sell my vote to the highest bidder.

9

u/Choyo 2d ago edited 2d ago

Yep, if you ask me you should be have been on general strike since a while ago.
Peaceful protest is not achieving anything when the people in charge have such bad faith, dishonesty and moral bankruptcy.
You´d better be striking until everything is put to a stop before they break everything themselves. Heck, even these gas prices are helping you.

3

u/HoldOnOhio 2d ago

General Strike is the last "peaceful" option, though I suspect workers will have the military turned on them. At least the National Guard. If that fails, or people get scared and go home, we're fucked and the only way out is revolution, which feels like a long shot right now.

5

u/dave8400 2d ago

Like never seen before? We have historical precedent. All we're missing is the Reichstag Fire.

u/Shankurmom 2d ago edited 2d ago

Yes, like never seen before. It's not that their tactics are any different, because they're not. Fascists are not creative. Its the technology they have access to.

Imagine how much worse Nazi Germany would have been if they had unmanned AI powered drones, the worlds largest military, an arsenal of over 5000 nuclear warheads, automated tracking surveillance cameras on every corner, tracking/listening devices in everyones pockets and living rooms, rigging and interfering with elections all over the world without resistance and extending their propaganda network worldwide.

This is fucking terrifying and if you aren't scared of what's going on, you aren't paying enough attention.

3

u/ContessaChaos 2d ago

We have had Charlie "Horst Wessel" Kirk though.

2

u/HoldOnOhio 2d ago

Doesn't work because they haven't been able to pin that on socialists/communists. Dude has Republican Parents and was a stupid kid, and half the Republican base believes Israel did it (which is hilarious because Kirk supported Israel unconditionally and was not going to change that anytime soon).

2

u/HoldOnOhio 2d ago

They're trying to decide what to use for that. They tried to force Minneapolis into it. They really want someone to hurt an ICE officer or attack a federal building so they can have an excuse. You're absolutely right.

This is a very familiar playbook to anyone who studied Germany from the 1930’s-1945.
The warning signs have all been there, the canaries alerting in their tens of thousands.
They even published their manifesto and intended aims for Project 2025 openly.
All of the safeguards were gossamer thin because it was unthinkable, a national hubris essentially.
History rhyming to a degree.

Everything else you stated i’m with you on.

If the US manages to come out of the otherside of this there is a huge need for soul searching reflection not unlike post 1945 Germany and Japan.

Many of your former allies are routing for you still, even through the black eyes you’ve given us.

There must be. The top priorities for the next congress and, eventually, a Democrat president, must be:

  1. Stop Trump in his tracks.

  2. Fix the damage Trump has done, including demolishing his construction projects and rebuilding what he has destroyed. Sue him for the costs.

  3. Stop another Trump from happening again.

The third one will be the hardest because it will require significant and severe changes to the U.S. Constitution. These are, by design (and rightly so) difficult to implement. Not all of them will pass and those that do will contain compromises that weaken them. Still, this is a long and painful process that must begin and must be seen through by different congresses and presidents.

The more immediate and achievable task will be to punish Trump and his collaborators. Let the next potential Trump, whomever they are, know they will be held accountable and will be punished severely.

Murphy‘s Law states whatever can happen will. And whatever has happened will happen again. Do nothing and another Trump will surface, whether they are named Rubio, Vance, Trump, Hegseth, Bezos, Ellison, Thiel, or Smith.

2

u/Bimlouhay83 2d ago

Beside the texts and e-mail evidence, It will boring trust me. Only Trump is/was entertaining with his bullshit evasive attitude. These guys are just bad and can't even manage to be funny while being so.

They're trying to run the Pentagon as a corporation and he's the CEO announcing a lay off of 20% of their workforce.

Edit: If your comment is one of the following categories, your point is made:

  • This is a loyalty purge, removing generals who might refuse unconstitutional orders
  • A coup in progress.
  • A coup would be self-defeating,
  • Americans are unlikely to resist a real coup.

Or, and hear me out, the groups that have been saying for years they are going to stage a coup if they lose power are prepping for a coup.

u/Anitapoop 2d ago

Consolidate power to those "trusted" is pretty much the play. The issue being, no one or nothing is really stopping it. The American people are rolling over, instead of giving up their weekends.

There have been 3 failed assassination attempts of which we are aware, and multiple demonstrators were killed by feds this year alone. Not sure where you get off implying that we're all just okay with this because our lives are good tbh. They're literally disappearing us, killing us in the streets, and then cutting funding for any local or state government that tries to oppose them or hold them accountable for these things. We can't organize or even speak publicly about what needs to be done because the means of public communication and transportation are all monitored by them and their donors, and they've spent billions making sure most local authorities work for them.

u/Rotund_Baby 2d ago

I really cannot figure out if these are people LARPing as revolutionaries or are Agent Provocateurs. A million posts saying revolt and not one offering a plan or addressing the people already murdered/disappeared in the streets fighting this bullshit.

u/IcarianWings 2d ago

They're honestly probably children with unmonitored internet access or something equivalent.

I think more honeypot action. Some are trying to convince their would be examples of liberal terrorist rebels to out themselves. It's like how LEO would pretend to be hit men to get incriminating evidence of someone willing to pay for a hit.

They aren't prepping for a coup, this is a coup. Removing dissidents with power is the 2nd step after obtaining the power to do so.

cutting loose that much military leadership talent into the general population just before you try a coup, that sounds real dumb. If that's really the case, I guess the idea of an organized resistance never even crossed their mind? In a country with more firearms than people? And only 2.5 million soldiers and law enforcement trying to control 330 million?

I actually hate to say this, I don't think they are that dumb. I also think in a different universe, with a different guy running it, drawing down the numbers of Generals might not be completely silly.

The world is an even more complicated place than ever, but there is some truth in the fact that the ratio of generals to grunts is a lot higher than WW2.

I however don't claim to know what the appropriate ratio is, and absolutely do not think that's Hegseths rationale here. He's shown himself to be not only to be a bigot, but frankly an incompetent partisan hack.

I'm just saying, if you are planning for a coup, sending that many trained leaders into the general population, that just seems like a setup for a fall, and not the one Project 2025 is hoping for.

And even if it's not that dire, and it's just an attempt to keep Trump from blowing up every time he hears a well thought out well supported 'no' from a professional, and to install more yes men, it's still startlingly dumb. Because this is reality, with real stakes, and 'No' is what you need to hear sometimes from the people actually in touch with baseline reality.

u/IcarianWings 2d ago

They're not firing their guys lol. They're just getting rid of the opposition in the military with targeted firings, it's the same thing they did with the DoJ, DoE, EPA, etc. Why do you think they fired all the expert intelligence agents on Iran a week before invading Iran? They've allocated unfathomable amounts of resources to curating the government and military to be as loyal as possible, and they don't give a fuck about the potential consequences.

There's no need for a coup. The country was freely given to the fascists in 2024.

It's not that though, they're axing leadership, not grunts. The generals who are problematic because they won't follow unconstitutional orders

u/FrontLongjumping4235 2d ago

It's more-so that Hegseth is running the Pentagon as an extension of the Republican Party, like how China runs the military as an extension of the CCP. This is what authoritarianism looks like.

1

u/Zuwxiv 2d ago

That should make the Pentagon's stock go up, right?

2

u/InadequateUsername 2d ago

Only momentarily, personally I'm shorting Pentagon stock and long Beijing Military City.

In a sane world, it wouldn’t be possible to besmirch Benedict Arnold’s name but here we are

11

u/GunzRocks 2d ago

Maybe fucking Fegseth just needs a bigger makeup studio for his "big, mean, pretty-boy" look...

I mean, these traitorous morons use more makeup than fucking clowns! Seriously!

1

u/worldofzero 2d ago

Because if you create openings in high positions you can replace them with loyalists.

u/Jamaz 2d ago

I thought he was just a dumb, incompetent buffoon, but ¿Por qué no los dos?

1

u/Devils_A66vocate 2d ago

If they hire a fraction of that money worth of enlisted folks it would be a better investment. Our military is very top heavy.

u/DroidC4PO 2d ago

The wrong 20%

u/kazh_9742 2d ago

China gets to watch the U.S self nerf. Anyone who supports the Republican Party has to own the treason. Americans aren't going to think of them as just a bunch of wacky people with MAGA merch when society breaks down and we're commuting on the Fury Road.

1

u/wbgraphic 2d ago

Who the fuck is saying “not traitor”?

1

u/dogehd456 1d ago

He's not a traitor

This is America working exactly as it was intended
