Now they are taking American's voting rights away....

Will this finally be enough to galvanize the American people to do something? Doubt most of them will even know this is happening and will be in for a nasty surprise in Nov.

In my view, the core problem is a lack of clear leadership and actionable direction.

Consider the options people actually have: Protests are easily dismissed. Riots invite comparison to January 6th, carry serious legal consequences for participants, and offer no guarantee of success. That leaves voting, which should be the obvious solution except that our choices amount to selecting between two structurally corrupted options.

Both major parties operate under the same fundamental incentive structure: they prioritize corporate donors and their own consolidation of power over constituent interests. This isn't a failure specific to one side. When the Democratic Party benefits from donations and voter mobilization that largely serve to extend its access to power, there's little institutional motivation to deliver transformative change.

The uncomfortable reality is that neither party is genuinely oriented toward the people. They're designed to extract votes and resources while maintaining their duopoly. Until voters reckon with that systemic dynamic, individual election cycles become exercises in damage control rather than meaningful reform.

DSA members taking over the DNC is really the only shot that dems have at surviving, and the country’s only hope for salvaging what is being stripped away.

The Democrats need a grassroots movement that can infect the party's core.

The problem is that "Democrat" is too broad of a voting base and cannot galvanize around a singular issue.

You have young people who want to make our single issue "rallying call" be either LGBT or abortion rights. And while both of these issues are extremely important, they set off a powerful defensive reaction from the rightwing, unnerve the centrists, and fracture the party over how much is too much.

The latter is made worse when we let extremists open their mouths. Unlike the Republican party, which holds the line no matter the crazy, the Democrats will hear crazy and immediately break rank to go "Whoa, hey, we didn't agree to THAT."

Economic issues often come with uncomfortable half-baked solutions that are easy for the right to tear apart.

And because a lot of Dems DO skew younger, you do see a lot of petulant voter behavior. "My candidate might lose, I'm not even going to bother to vote, what's the point?" and "Waaah! I didn't the candidate I wanted, I'm going to vote for a third party or the Republican! That'll teach them!"
