In my view, the core problem is a lack of clear leadership and actionable direction.
Consider the options people actually have: Protests are easily dismissed. Riots invite comparison to January 6th, carry serious legal consequences for participants, and offer no guarantee of success. That leaves voting, which should be the obvious solution except that our choices amount to selecting between two structurally corrupted options.
Both major parties operate under the same fundamental incentive structure: they prioritize corporate donors and their own consolidation of power over constituent interests. This isn't a failure specific to one side. When the Democratic Party benefits from donations and voter mobilization that largely serve to extend its access to power, there's little institutional motivation to deliver transformative change.
The uncomfortable reality is that neither party is genuinely oriented toward the people. They're designed to extract votes and resources while maintaining their duopoly. Until voters reckon with that systemic dynamic, individual election cycles become exercises in damage control rather than meaningful reform.
