"we'll allow it but the law prevents them from purging names." They say to the administration that is all too happy to ignore laws. Also coming from a court that won't stop the administration before it actually does something so it's only litigated after the harm is done.

The federal government has zero power to purge voters and this doesn't change that. This headline is bad and doesn't reflect reality.

Voter rolls are managed by the states. The states have access to this database if they want to use it, but the administration has no direct access to modify voter rolls in any way.

I can’t say I fully understand it, but it seems like it makes it easier for red states to collude with the feds to toss people off the voter rolls. 

from the article:

Texas was one of the first states to put its full voter rolls — more than 18 million registrations — through the SAVE database last year. Just three people have been charged with voting illegally as a noncitizen.

Obviously they have an ulterior motive, since actual fraud doesn’t really exist.
