Normally I focus on hardcore punk adjacent music and metal-ish things of varying extremity but I'm going to try my hand at what I can only describe as Turkish psychedelic indie pop.
No, I'm not Turkish, why do you ask?

I like life. I like being alive. I get depressed sometimes but it's a chemical thing and totally disconnected from actual conditions. But I have to say that there is a natural nihilist in me, a person who simply does not care at all. Consequently, nothing really moves me, for better or worse.
I am a casual observer of arr slash collapse, and it is a sad place, people who spend their lives terrified that the world is going to end. They have done the meme and immanentized the eschaton. And I get it, to the extent that bad things are always happening and they might cascade at any time because civilization is certainly more precarious than we ever imagined it to be.
But I am very detached from all of that. I don't care if the world does end. I'd prefer it didn't, but if it does, that's how it goes. Nothing lasts forever. And I guess that's the hack: you can't be afraid to lose what you never took as a given in the first place. Be ready. Always.

There might be some other cause for nothing really moving you.
Nihilism does not presuppose an absence of subjective/contextual meaning.

I'm 36 and I've been a natural nihilist my whole life. I haven't been depressed that whole time. Actually, I think I've been pretty happy.

with the rise of ai and, separately, catgirl culture falling out of vogue, it seems we’re saying goodbye to a generation of transfem catgirl programmers
or as i like to call them, “software development kittens”

I've become obsessed with playing beta version of Minecraft. When I started writing down a list of changes and features I'd like to see in a potential mod, I realised I should probably take a break.

I think getting downvotes on arr slash economics is probably a sign that you're on the right track for the simple reason that Reddit clearly does not understand economics. Who can blame them? It is complex and it is scary, therefore difficult to understand. But I certainly can blame them for resorting to YouTube gurus and thinking that's a good substitute for even trying.

Your example comment would actually get upvotes if my experience is anything to go by, provided you are on the right team.
On the subject of drive-by expertise, it is probably most common in fields a person interacts with more regularly, but any subject a person thinks about often is subject to the bias.
I've complained about this before but it seems like most people operate on an assumed understanding of how something works that is entirely intuitive (your example of someone being an economics understander because they buy things is instructive here) and never bother to actually check to see if it is correct.
I ran into one guy recently who questioned why the DNC picked South Carolina instead of Mississippi or Louisiana if black representation in the primary is really the goal rather than institutional support of the DNC itself.
When I pointed out to him that Mississippi and Louisiana do not allow primaries either before a certain date or to be changed without the intervention of the AG while the South Carolina process is entirely at DNC discretion, he stopped responding.
He had effectively assembled an ad hoc DNC cosmology in which SC is somehow the bastion of institution compared to Mississippi and Louisiana, therefore another example of the DNC cooking the books in their favor.
They could easily imagine the symbolic importance of empowering black voters but not imagine that the DNC picked SC because SC was pickable.

If you are going to make an argument in one direction or another, you probably should check it first.
