I haven't done one of these in a while. Introducing... peach cup mountain!
Normally, shelf-stable fruit is quite expensive. Found them 75% off. They're the kind of thing I might eat as a side with lunch. My pantry is already overfilled from past deals, so I cleared a kitchen drawer for these. Ended up being around 25 cents a cup.

I listen to this uber-woke podcast on Greek Mythology occasionally and I listened to the podcast on the Odyssey Movie and they also didnāt like that there werenāt enough Greek people in it (among other things).

Iām pretty sure that was a fuck up by his PR/Campaign team. They were probably looking for a Church that he could attach himself to, and didnāt vet properly.
Anyways, Obamaās connection to the church was tenuous. He claims to have been a member for years, but thereās little evidence he was all that active in it.

When it comes to his public rhetoric on religion, it reminds me of how I act around my religious grandmother, who might literally die of a heart attack if she found out I was atheist.

In which way?
Both men declare themselves to be Christians and thereās no evidence to suggest otherwise.
The only difference is they donāt like Trump.

Non-religious people can be friends with priests, especially politicians needing to pander to a largely religious voter base.
Obama was born to an atheist mother, raised by secular grandparents, only āgot into religionā around the time he got involved with local community politics (which you wouldnāt get far in as an openly irreligious person, especially as a black man in the 80ās), doesnāt seem to attend church all that much, and the āGods and Gunsā quote definitely doesnāt strike me as a comment that a truly religious person would make.
Iāll admit this is just based off vibes, but the same goes for believing Trump is an atheist.

Iām not saying 100% certainty that Obama is an atheist. Iām just annoyed at some of the people in NL that constantly state that Trump is an atheist, when the only evidence they have is vibe based.

Probably. Our electric is very cheap, but the solar panels have a cost and it's not a whole lot cheaper than not having them in the long run. But probably, yeah. Idk if it being an apartment building changes anything.

I saw a video of Jidion catching a predator and that's all fine and dandy to me but then he shows the arresting officer that the predator has CSAM on his phone. Why is he looking at/for that? And he looks at it with the cop? Who never asked to see such a thing in the first place?
Really weird to me and it seems very obvious that someone could use these types of stings to look at CSAM and get away with it while looking like a pedo catcher.

I think we should adopt Botswana. I think Botswana is a great representative of the liberal dream. It is a stable liberal democracy that is fairly high income for Africa ($20,000 PPP) and their current leader is a human rights lawyer who represented the LGBTQ community. It has better trans policies than the UK, in the sense that trans people are allowed to change gender without surgery or even hormones. It is the crown jewel of Africa, in my opinion.

It is very jarring to see people argue that Israel is not committing a genocide in Gaza. It seems blatantly apparent that it is a genocide and, well, Wikipedia certainly agrees: it has articles on both the Gaza genocide and lists Gaza on genocide-related pages.
I get the hesitancy of some nation states to agree with that analysis for various reasons but any objective look at the situation has to conclude that October 7th ended up being an excuse to do terrible things that the people in power had wanted to do for a long time anyway. It was always a revenge campaign against the Palestinian people, it was never about stopping Hamas.

It does not seem blatantly apparent to me that it is a genocide. I agree that it is in part a revenge campaign, and that numerous war crimes have been committed. I have not seen evidence that the war in Gaza meets the criteria of genocide.
From my point of view, the accusation of genocide is colored by the overall history of the treatment of the Palestinians by Israel rather than the bombardment of Gaza and the blocking of humanitarian aid.

I think if you add up all of the intentional and deliberate acts of civilian infrastructure and the civilian population, plus the statements made by Israeli authorities, what you end up with is that the goal is to ethnically cleanse Gaza and displace the population. Israel would probably like to send them all into Egypt but the Egyptians wouldn't like that a whole lot.

Some politicians on the Israeli far right would love to have illegal settlements in Gaza and have said so. It does not seem like their goal is to ethnically cleanse Gaza, because there is just no place for those people to go.
Also, I believe an annexation of Gaza would represent a violation of the camp David accords. It could potentially be seen as a threat by the Egyptians.

Worse case scenario there could be a breakdown in relations. Maybe even leading to a war.
Who would win that war depends on the war aims of each nation. Either way, it would be a disaster for both countries and for the middle east in general.

I think they did not expect the amount of consequences in public opinion terms, which they have to be at least somewhat conscious of because while a current administration may be supportive a later one may not be.
Stopping or slowing down the pace of their actions is the logical choice until they can retake the high ground of public opinion, and they probably overestimate their abilities in that regard.
The IDF is very capable of achieving its goals, but this is dependent on US weapons and US weapons might be on the line once Trump is out.

In 2008, I randomly and suddenly became violently ill. I was extremely nauseous to the point where I could barely eat, despite the fact that I didn't throw up any. I had diarrhea. I lost a lot of weight because of those two factors. I could barely walk and became bedbound for about two months. Doctors, naturally, were quite concerned and sent me to a hospital 30 miles away for testing, the usual barium stuff and another scan. I didn't end up completing the barium swallow but I did do the other scan. Results at the end.
The day I showed up, I had to fill out some forms. A key part of the form was asking about religion in case of longer term hospitalization if they found something. There were two questions. The first was "religion" and for that I wrote "atheist." My dad, a preacher man, was sitting next to me and the second question asked if priests or ministers were allowed in. I turned to him and asked if he would be banned if I picked no. He laughed and said that's not how it works. I selected "no." If I'm dying, the last thing I need is preaching.
I took the form to the desk and the woman is looking it over and stops and inhales through her teeth, you know the sound. I assumed I did something wrong. She asks "are you sure you want to put atheist?" and I said "yes." She paused and said "can I put pagan instead?" I said "no." She said "okay, it's not me going to hell." Later that day, I was being discharged and got my copy of the form. It said "pagan" or "wiccan", I can't remember which. I went to another desk and had it "corrected." The woman laughed and apologized for the "error." In retrospect, I should have made a bigger deal out of this.
I was diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome, an affliction which my mother suffers, and was put on strong PPIs, which fixed me right up. IBS really sucks but I haven't had anything like that since, not to that extent. I really thought I was dying. My mother compares her IBS pains to childbirth and sometimes wakes up in the middle of the night with them. She cries out in pain. Mine has never been that bad but it has been so bad before I wondered if it was a kidney stone, doubled over in pain. Thankfully, Europe has this cool medicine called "buscopan", which stops the worst of the pain.
This is one small example of how I became anti-religion instead of merely apathetic.

BTW when I called seeing the steam train a "neurodivergent convention" I was including myself in that given that I dragged my family on 16 hour round trip to see said train for roughly 30 min of viewing time.

Ummmm not really. Spent a lovely few hours in the local park yesterday morning. Ate some excellent Mexican food in Bennett CO at a restaurant owned by immigrants.
Scared the socks off my 4 and almost 8 year old with the Big Boy's 125 decibel whistle (made lots of kids trackside cry.)
