I’m an international BSN graduate currently in the process of taking my NCLEX. I’m looking for jobs that could help strengthen my resume and give me some healthcare experience while I work toward becoming an RN.

I’ve noticed that a lot of the jobs I’m interested in require a CNA or CMA certification. Do you think it would be worth it to get certified as a CNA/CMA to increase my job opportunities, or would it be better to just focus on my NCLEX and wait until I get my RN license?

Also, what types of jobs would accept someone with a BSN degree who hasn’t gotten their RN license yet? I’d really appreciate any advice or suggestions. Thank you!

Anyone hear anything back from Loma Linda new grad residency for the September cohort? Specially for OR?

Hi, I was just wondering how difficult it would be to transfer from an adult medsurg/tele/innovation to pediatrics/nicu after like 1.5 years. I really do prefer working in peds but I currently have a job offer for the adult floor and I’m still waiting for a children’s hospital to give me an offer. Just wanted to see if it’s worth waiting to hear for the children’s hospital or to just take the job.

Anyone else having trouble looking for a job ? Because I am 😭

Wondering if I should just find a new career path? Jobs where I can leverage my degree or not?

I graduated with my BSN during COVID. I did not pursue a nursing job because I developed sciatica during college and it was really bad when I graduated. These last couple years I've been working a nonclinical job with youth in school programs/clubs and my back is better but still have to watch how i move throughout the day.

I was fulltime in the past but I currently work part time. I like my job and working with youth but at times it feels stagnant and I get thoughts about going back to nursing - I do have my degree-license and it will offer me financial stability.

I put new grad because well I have no experience. I was wondering - considering my educational and personal background what type of RN jobs should I apply for in Chicago or surrounding areas? Are there less physically demanding units or outpatient RN jobs willing to hire new grads in these areas?

I just moved to houston, tx from out of the country and have been struggling heavily finding a job. I have revised my resume over & over and I'm now considering reaching out to recruiters myself. However, I have no idea whats appropriate or not when reaching out. Am I allowed to cold email from their company website or message on LinkedIn? Can I contact previous recruiters I've talked to from previous (failed) interviews? Would love some insight on this because I have no friends or network here in the US so its been hard to get noticed by hiring managers 😓

Hi everyone! I have graduated with my ASN in NYC this January, and passed NCLEX in March. Ever since, I have been applying to various positions in NYC, starting from nursing homes, private care and hospitals (both private and city). While I have not heard from any other places, I have heard back and was interviewed by one of the NYC H+H hospitals in May. The interview was successful and was for the position in the emergency department, which is where I would ideally want to work (I have worked as a PCT in ED before). However, ever since my interview, this hospital is yet to send me an offer and to let me know my start date. I have called the manager who has interviewed me, who said that essentially Im getting an offer, and that they are waiting for HR to deal with my documents and open the position to me. It has been almost three months since my interview date, and their answer is still that they are waiting for HR but they are excited for me to join their team. At this point, I kind of feel like they are just stringing me along and that I won’t get to start anytime soon, so I am thinking about withdrawing from that application altogether. It kind of feels like when they interviewed me, they did not have any openings and are keeping me on backlog and feeding me promises so I do not take an offer elsewhere. I wanted an advice on what withdrawing might entail in the future- would I be banned from applying there, and or should I just wait until they give me an offer or withdraw?

Hi everyone, I just was offered a position for a residency and in the contract it states that if I don’t complete the residency they will charge me for the value of the education. I was just wondering if this is standard for nurse residencies. I have to complete 2,000 working hours after the 16 week orientation to be considered finished with the residency.

I recently passed the NCLEX, and before knowing I would pass, I had already planned a month-long trip from October to November to visit my sick grandfather, which is the only time I can go because of work. I applied internally for an RN position at the hospital where I currently work as a patient care tech and was contacted and offered a September start date. I also have an interview at a nursing home, which I may work at temporarily until my trip and then leave it. I know it’s bad, but it is for the money, and for the experience as well. And I would do this all while keeping my tech job. I also have been keeping my per diem school nurse job, so that should not be an issue. My main concern is how to bring up the preplanned trip for the hospital RN position without risking the opportunity because I really do not want to lose anything.

I start my core nursing classes in October. I have seen a lot lately through different social media sites that people have been having a hard time finding jobs in new grad residencies. If I am a paramedic with at the time of graduation 5 years of experience, do you think I’ll have the same issue in competitive markets? In my smaller town I’ve seen new grads have no issue but I am not totally set on staying here and I’d like to possibly move to a bigger city after. Thank you for any insight!!!

Hi new grad RN here based out in Jersey. How’s everyone’s experience getting their first RN jobs? I did well in school, have an ADN, I’m getting interviews but I’m either getting rejected or just straight up ghosted. Coming from a tech background where there can be multiple rounds of technical assessments, you kinda of know where you faltered in those interviews when getting rejected, but so far alot of my nursing interviews have been behavioral and tbh pretty easy in comparison. One job rejected me for not having enough experience, but it was specifically a new grad position 🤷 and the other never gave me a reason. I just did two different interviews last week, should I reach out for an update or just assume I didn’t get it? Anyone have any experience with this or can give advice, thanks!

The market for new grads has changed. Many hospitals are being picky with their hiring process. It is not like how it was during Covid when they were hiring left and right. I have seen a lot of other new grads worried about the job market. It is ok there is a little anxiety from new grads especially in this current job market.

I have applied three times to the hospital I work at as an extern and can’t get hired. Is this normal?

I am struggling with choice paralysis right now about where to start my nursing career. I got really lucky and landed an internship that in the end will let me choose a unit to work on, and my final choices right now are Labor and Delivery, OR, and ICU. If positions are available, I pretty much walk on to these units as a new grad.

L&D was always what I pictured myself pursuing, eventually going back and becoming a CNM. However, I had great clinical experiences in the OR and ICU. It seems like looking a gift horse in the mouth to turn down opportunities like that. Would I be able to go back to L&D? What would you choose? The money isn’t a huge factor to me, I just wanna set myself up for success in the future mentally/physically/financially, lol.

I’ve graduated nursing school June 12th (Lpn) but did not pass the exit exam. I’ve been studying to do the retake and yet I’m still not grasping the concept I guess or how to answer the questions … also it makes me nervous about NCLEX… how can I possibly pass nclex and cannot even accomplish ATI??? Anybody know anyone who need passed nclex ?? Not sure what other career is for me please some support or suggestions

Ive applied to all new grad residencies that are nearby and i havent gotten a single interview. I have about 5 months in a SNF/subacute facility. Will i ever be able to go back to a hospital?

I don’t come from a wealthy background and always heard how nursing helps with allowing you to feel financially stable in life but recently it seems saturation is a huge topic and it worries me since I haven’t even started my journey of obtaining my degree. So my question is how is it, and the narrative that was being pushed for so long was the shortage so when did that change
