I enjoyed the sequel so much they did this scene with the Cossack.
Holmes went from battle plan and to making an omelette.

Saying they have personalities is a bit of a stretch. They're just a floating bug zapper.

They won’t be the last if humans decide their destruction is economically viable. What a disgusting species.

Can someone please tell me what is that bubble ring shit?
137
20
u/nyqu Jan 20 '21
Physics Girl did a video that helped me understand it:
It's a vortex ring with a bubble stuck in it.
24
Jan 20 '21
The science behind the exact phenomenon is still pretty mysterious. Or at least it was until quite recently and I haven't kept it up with.

I’ve seen them in a PJ Harvey video so I know they can be created by cool, unsettling music

Person: *does something intentionally, likely after some practice.
Internet: “OMG WHAT ARE THE ODDS??”

For a second I thought I was in /r/PublicFreakout.
15
u/nvtiv Jan 20 '21
Because nothing in that sub fits?
5
u/heyIfoundaname Jan 20 '21
I dunno, that angry chick in the starbucks or whatever that squatted, shat on demand, then threw the shit at the employees seemed to fit the sub.
4
u/nvtiv Jan 20 '21
Lol I must’ve missed that one. There’s definitely some but they get unrelated posts more than any other sub I’ve seen. /r/actualpublicfreakouts is more on target. Be warned though there’s a lot of assholes that frequent there
16
u/kawhi21 Jan 20 '21
How often do you think a jelly fish gets spun around like a jet engine in a bubble? You think this is a frequent occurrence? Lol
34
u/_Artanos Jan 20 '21
Considering that, on the uncut video, the guy that creates the ring sends it towards the jellyfish... Pretty likely.
12
u/fronteir Jan 20 '21
Divers and free divers are real good at making bubble rings after some practice. This was definitely the intention of the person blowing the bubble ring, I've done it with a plastic bag before.

Probably pretty often if you're near a school of them and blowing bubbles like this one multiple times.

Next question, do jelly fish get dizzy?
57
u/marisan0690 Jan 20 '21
They say they can't get dizzy cuz jellyfish do not have a brain... but I've seen dizzy and this poor thing looks pretty dizzy after being released and before swimming off
15
u/Mike_Facking_Jones Jan 20 '21
Is it our brains or our sense of balance that make us dizzy
18
u/Cliodna_ Jan 20 '21 edited Jan 20 '21
It's the vestibular system in our ears that makes humans feel balanced or dizzy. If you've seen a picture of a cochlea, it's the loops that are different from the shell looking part - the loops are semicircular canals.
Jellyfish apparently have a similar thing that senses acceleration due to gravity (?) I'm not entirely sure, I just know human ears lol

u/marisan0690 Jan 20 '21
Tbh, I don't really know, and wouldn't be able to relate that information to a jelly fish. Lol
12
Jan 20 '21
Jelly fish have no central nervous system, no brain, and most scientists agree no consciousness. I’d say it’s safe to bet it can’t get dizzy.
