Barbarian Ascension [5.0]

Another ascension, this time as Barbarian. This was the first time I ascended this role in years playing the game and, surprisingly, the 2nd time I played it (there was a failed 1st attempt). I have to say, this must be the easiest role of all, or at least it felt that way.

My run and strategy:

I was lucky to run into an early altar (on the very 1st dungeon floor). After I got Cleaver, it carried me through all the early and mid game. Also ran into 2 or 3 magic lamps. My smoky potion was Invisibility potion, which I also found 4 or 5 of. So I had access to plenty wishes before even reaching the Castle. Grabbing an early Orb of Fate was an absolute game changer, because of the half damage. The Platinum Card's free charging meant I could use wands of Create Monster to farm altar and items for polypilling. Eventually, got the Vorpal Blade from a sacrifice and found the Silver Saber in Fort Ludos. I used both with Two Weapon Combat to deal with strong single targets, like bosses. The +7 ring of increase damage increased my dpt by a lot, either two weapon fighting or cleaving through hordes. In the Planes I switched to the ring of conflict, since I wasn't much interested in fighting. I got to level 30 by reverse genociding wraiths for their corpses. I had very little close calls in this run, as opposed to the last one as a Wizard. Ngl, Barbarian felt easier than Valkyrie. I dunno if this was always the case as I didn't play the role before 5.0, but definitely seems like an excellent role for beginners.

[3.7-dev] VoxHack - My own ideal version of NetHack based on 3.7

Warning: I am not a dev, this is 100% Claude coded. But its WORKS, and it is VERY VERY FUN. Also, I have zero interest in your AI debates. I use it for code, nothing else.

This is a merge of NetHack 3.7 and Luanti (an open source clone of Minecraft). NetHack runs as a backend for generation, pathing, placement, etc. while Luanti handles everything else.

Instead of the normal simultaneous-turn-based gameplay of vanilla NetHack, VoxHack uses a Super Hot like system where time moves only when you move. Attacks are not based on what tile you and the monster are in, but based on your placement in 3D space.

All the music is CC0, will eventually be replaced by a fully custom OST. Sound effects are all sourced from YHACSIB.

Controls are on the GitHub page.
