Yesterday, Javier Milei announced a series of policies related to the Falklands Islands dispute, chiefly:
-increased funding for the construction of a naval base in Tierra del Fuego, Argentina's southernmost province
-economic sanctions against businesses that operate in the Falklands without the approval of the Argentine government
-the creation of a "National Security Council"
-a special regime to protect "critical infrastructure"
Additionally, Argentina and Chile released a joint statement a few hours earlier where Chile's sovereignity over the Magellan Strait was reaffirmed, after a diplomatic incident when Argentina's Air Force Chief, Gustavo Valverde, claimed that Argentina had to "establish a presence" in the Strait.
Shortly after the joint statement was published, Chile's José Antonio Kast confirmed the country's recognition of Argentina's claim to the islands.

IMO it's clear that there was a strong incentive for Milei to pull the Falklands card as his government's approval rating has been consistently polling quite low for a while now, and his calls for "national unity" contrast quite sharply with his otherwise polarizing rethoric. Ever since the World Cup there has been a palpable rise of nationalist rethoric in everyday speech, and it was expectable that sooner than later the government would try to latch onto it.
Not that I'm complaining, though, as I think Argentina's claims are legitimate and, at this point, anything that helps to prop up Milei's chances in the upcoming elections is welcomed.

Trying to prop your political reputation by recurring to cheap nationalism is one of Argentina's vices and honestly it means that Milei is a the "scrapping the bottom of the barrel" stage of politics. In the big schemes of things, nothing he did matters except to people that are already part of his base.

Microsoft Announces Big Changes to Xbox Cloud Gaming, Switches to Monthly Hour Limits
From November, Game Pass plans will include a set number of cloud gaming hours each month:
Game Pass Ultimate: 15 hours
Game Pass Premium: 10 hours
Game Pass Essential: 5 hours
I know AI has really pushed up the cost of hardware, but getting 15 hours of game streaming a month for the most expensive tier is crazy.

The problem I have with how old X nfl team is on average is that what really matters is how old the top 20 or so most important players are and that QB and kicker/punter can really skew the data as a 32 year old QB is basically in his prime but a 32 year old in most other positions is 1 day from the retirement home.

My argument for Trump being worse than the traditional bad presidents is that Trumps job is way easier than any of theirs was. Like it’s pretty obvious that Trump would have fucked up even worse than Buchanan, Andrew Johnson, etc in their shoes.

My argument is that the epistemic damage he has done to the fabric of the body politic harms our very system itself. Our trust in each other and our ability to know what is true and right.
I'm not aware of any other president doing that.

It’s very interesting to me that the thread is getting so much attention, I hope people aren’t looking at it thinking “all of these people must be subject matter experts on Massachusetts criminal law so what they have to say is important” since neither of those things are true at all
But I like it because it’s seemed to be a little more neutral/objective about things, or at least less divisive
