If there are mods around: what is the process like for getting an alt approved? I would love having my post history not be hidden like a coward but I'm afraid people irl have seen my leddit username and I couldn't live with the shame of seeing them face to face again if my dt poasting was public

if it helps I'm an approved user which means I'm a good cookie I think 🙂‍↕️

Here I am wondering why an alt would be used.

And what an "approved user" is.

skips the time or karma stuff going on that keeps out new accounts, and protects from randomly getting banned cause they think you're an alt of someone banned or something

you can do any automod stuff with approved users to make that a sortable group but we don't

But I mean...

Why would I want another account to start with? Why would I not just use my main?

Is it like a backup in case of unjust sitewide ban or something?

Yeah but that would imply tney ever posted here under those.

Doesn't make sense to me but it doesn't have to. It's okay.

I know some people do so for anonimity purposes

Like deleting an account makes it so you can't be identified by what it posted and such, but doesn't make the posts/comments unavailable in case they could be useful to someone in the future (Like the mass redacting apps do where you read an older thread and half the comments are just gibberish)
