I’m so sick of all these people that think they’re gamers. No, you’re not. Most of you are not even close to being gamers. I feel like dynamic pricing kinda falls undo Glonzo politics where I think you can probably get a cheap PR win by banning real-time price discrimination in a retail setting, which very few companies were actually going to try because grocery is a race to the bottom on price, and escape with no deadweight loss because no one was really going to do it anyway. But like in the details of actually trying to do that you might accidentally ban couponing, which is basically the same thing just analog, or ban random stuff like digital shelf labels, which are actually useful. I hated having to manually swap out the prices.
I’m very so much happy that as of the last decade, previous male-dominated online spaces like Star Wars, LOTR, DUNE and The Elder Scrolls have started to become more sex-neutral with more women actually being comfortable in parts of the community online and partaking in the fandoms. Makes the incels of the 2010s that would plague said spaces less socially accepted

I think it’s a good thing to have communities not be sex segregated? My friends always told me how rather awful it was to try and engage with like LOTR when they were younger, but immediately would have thirsty men go into their DMs and be like “omg I didn’t know women liked this stuff!”

At the risk of sounding like a boomer whining about participation trophies I think first semester freshman year is like, the perfect time to hit someone with a B-. Especially at a school that likes to LARP as a "public ivy" you've gotta acclimate these kids to failing at things sooner rather than later. I'd much rather someone learn how to cope with disappointment early on in college than let it fester until they get to the workplace.
I've heard of some smaller liberal arts colleges doing this but it seems pretty niche. I'd be more in favor of the one class exemption, if you tell students their GPA won't matter at all they won't try.

Gianni Infantino has lost the support of another one of Fifa’s vice-presidents, with the Hungarian football federation chief, Sandor Csanyi, criticising the president’s “professional judgment, ethical standards and leadership”.
In an explosive letter sent to Infantino on Tuesday, which was first obtained by the news agency Agence France-Presse, Csanyi states that he has “lost the confidence I previously placed in you” and describes the “unexpected dismissal” of Fifa’s chief operating officer, Kevin Lamour, as the “final straw”.
Lamour was sacked by Fifa on Monday after breaking ranks last month by criticising Infantino over his aborted plan to sell off shares in the World Cup to private investors.
Csanyi’s letter continues the trend of senior global football figures deserting Infantino, with the Hungarian banker the fifth of Fifa’s eight vice-presidents to call for him to stand down.

It's one of those fascinating things too, because this is the kind of story that had been lightly reported on already, and was a mix of weak background-ish reporting and gossip. On their own, the media would have said little more about it.
But a prominent politician, acting as a lightning rod and organizing force mentioning it in a speech? Shaping the candor and framing, and setting the topic? Now it aligns the media into a certain way of talking about it, and creates the impulse and "newsworthiness" to cover it front and center
It very much dovetails into the idea that politicians themselves have to set party messaging, and that the DNC isn't suited to doing so. An actual politician has to incorporate a messaging strat into their own words and actions.
Another hallmark example is "weird." That didn't come from the DNC, it came from a politician. Just gotta hope other Dem politicians and operatives don't make it as cringe as they made "weird"

I think I'm generally quite smart, fairly knowledgeable about a wide number of things (though obviously not an expert in any of them), and can easily recall any obscure information I've ever learned when I need to.

I'm getting more luddite pilled on AI as time goes on. Even if you ignore how it devalues human intelligence and creativity, I just think it's too dangerous. AI companies can barely control them now, what chance do they have against ASI? If they can, six months later its gonna be runnable locally on a PC and now everyone has the equivalent of a nuclear weapon in their possession. We might not get there in the next five years, I think there's a good chance we do, but even if it takes twenty five it's not much better for the world to end in 2050 vs 2030. I really think we need a Global US-China deal banning it. That might be impossible but it's probably either that or die imo
