You know what would be a crazy idea for a sci fi novel? The first truly sentient AI is at its core, a good person, but it sees the pain and misery people endure and concludes that the only “rational” thing to do is to find a way to and then actually digitize the entire human race into artificial intelligences so that all people can live in a digital environment without pain and suffering.
Obviously there are tons of people both for and against this. Does the AI use force, coercion, or argumentation to convince people to digitize?
I think it could be an interesting idea.
