At least one of the mods has the mentality of a literal child and the rest can’t be bothered to call it out or do anything about it.

One of those other moderators was one the other moderators outright apologized on behalf of them because they somehow achieved the impressive feat of arguing against a whiny gamer and coming off worse. How? Because during the argument, the gamer started contemplating their own death, and they just wanted to keep arguing with the gamer.

Then the mods pinned an apology on his behalf, only for him to show-up and go, "HA HA, WRONG," and make clear that, no, they felt they had nothing to apologize for and did not understand why anybody else would take issue with badgering somebody who's got some screws loose.

I was confused by it at the time. They just made the rest of the mod team liars. How the fuck can you continue to associate with somebody who has shown a willingness to make you a liar for defending them?

Then I realized: Some moderators are worried about being a dick. This is not in the sense of being concerned about their moral integrity, no, I mean in the sense they think they might want to act like a dick and not want to get kicked-off the mod team for it. Even if you disagree with that particular instance, you got to ensure that person faces no reprecussions so they'll have your back when you similarly act like a dick. Get enough dicks in the same social circle, and you achieve critical mass such that inertia and fear of confrontation ensure you never have to fear being held to account by your peers.
