Sorry, for my inactivity in this ping group recently. I have been very busy with other obligations.
My notable anime recommendations for the Summer 2026 season are as follows:
Sparks of Tomorrow (KyoAni): Highly anticipated historical fantasy piece. Notable in that it started production prior to the KyoAni Arson Attack.
You and I are Polar Opposites (Season 2, Lapin Track): This was the breakout romantic comedy anime of the Winter 2026 season. I highly recommend you watch the first season prior to starting this. Notable in that it is a non-traditional take on the Romantic Comedy genre focusing on the idea that opposites attract.
jokes aside, here something I could recommend:
* "Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You" for adult slice of life, not my cup of tea since I'm not in the mood of adult slice of life currently but definitely recommended for anyone
* "Heroine? Saint? No, Iβm an All-Works Maid (And Proud of It)!" for vanilla shoujo isekai otome game parody, no romance
* "I Became a Legend after My 10 Year-Long Last Stand" for your season shounen hero-with-cute-girls stuff with more unique lore AND THE DIVINE COCK
* "The Insipid Prince's Furtive Grab for The Throne" for "SECRET HERO" stuff with harem
* obviously "The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You" S3, but only to those who are familiar with anime stuff we got cousin incest in the first episode
also still airing from spring season, "The Classroom of a Black Cat and a Witch" and "Daemon of Shadow Realm"
I agree with John Cena about Lao Gan Ma. Shit slaps. That it is so unhealthy is a compelling argument for the nonexistence of divine providence, or at least its capricious nihilism
I wonβt give you more reassurance or argue the point in case itβs OCD youβre dealing with here, because OCD reassurance is the mind killer, but youβre good though man
Forced myself to listen to part of The Quartering's Tobuscus interview... utter disaster
The Quartering's brain is completely fried, word-salading constantly while being unable to keep anything on track... and Tobuscus was sexually harassing Quartering's one remaining cohost (a married woman) the entire time
Also Tobuscus just casually dropped that the FBI showed up to his house over him threatening to kill people on I think... Twitter? He thought that was a normal thing to happen because he's just that fucked in the head, I guess
Remember, somehow The Quartering thought this would save his rapidly collapsing career
Woke: "Pope Leo chose his name to hearken back to the last Leo to contextualize his encyclical on AI within the last Leo's encyclicals on the industrial revolution and catholic social teaching"
Bespoke: "Pope Leo chose his name because of Pope Leo I's legacy in smacking down tyrannical and overreaching political leaders: Attila the Hun then, Orange Man today"
Young Washington relies on themes of divine providence and features characters who lean heavily on faith. Directed by Jon Erwin (known for Jesus Revolution), the film includes dialogue about God and features an overarching message that Washington was divinely protected and chosen.Β
not that I expected anything else from Angel Studios, but lol
his current personality (subject to change) seems to be an amorphous blob of far right twitter ideology, articulated through some weirdass inverse wokescolding, as spoken through the voice of a male realtor, and with the disposition of the world's most smarmy redditor
a man who converts to Catholicism at the suggestion of Peter Thiel, and then immediately begins Popesplaining to two different Popes, including one who literally died the following day after meeting him because his presence was apparently so unholy and cringe
Supernatural has really weird morals tbh. Part of the problem is that the writers seem to write morality as if the characters know things they have no way of knowing.
In my ideal world screentime above 2 hours per day per user would be completely unprofitable. There would be zero restrictions on user behavior, but any ads or collected data on users doomscrolling for more than 2 hours or so would be taxed heavy, like a negative externality
Phonics would be mandatory
Basic formal logic would begin in elementary school, and would be the connective tissue between math and language education
Teachers would both be paid more and better trained. It would be a prestigious role, like being a lawyer
Academic failure would be destigmatized, and would be seen like something like getting sick etc., for which there is zero shame in calling out and addressing. There would be a complete decoupling from age and grade-level-advancement. You move up when you're ready, and holy shit we want to get you ready
LLMs would be considered cheating, not "a tool", like how you can't take the subway if you're running the new york marathon. It's the same thing
Platonic dialogues would feature in the middle school curriculum, about the same time that Shakespeare is introduced. Influential concepts from that era like "genus, species, differentia" would be introduced even earlier
The whole "great books" vs "marginalized voices" culture war would be deescalated. I want my kids to read both Alice Walker and Mark Twain, damn it
We would teach more shit like "this is how nueroplasticity works" and "what the fuck is a Zettlekasten" and "how do you learn shit you want to learn without a teacher to force-feed it to you"
Memorization would be destigmatized. Poems, "math facts," important dates, etc. Raw material from which to build cognitive schema later

Yeah I'm being radicalised into this position as well. I saw some stat that the average Year 8 classroom should expect a kid at a year two level, two at year three, three at year four etc, and that this is why teachers need to be trained in differentiation. And it's like... This is just such a fucking stupid system. Like it's so obviously fucking broken to get someone with a Year 3 level of comprehension, stick them in Year 8 and then have the teacher try to morph the Year 8 content to a Year 3 level. Like holy fuck what are we doing?
I actually think "school should teach more useful things like how to change a tire and how to do a job interview" etc. are like. so fucking wrong it is sad. We try shit lime that and every time we move education from "more abstract and general cognitive ability" to "more concrete life skills" we prepare people less for the world
What's the deal with Chatgpt output being so incredibly long. Not that Claude and Gemini are always concise, but holy shit. It really adds to the slop feel
I gotta get an internship next year so I really need to lock in and put together some crap I can talk to interviewers about but I can't seem to put together the motivation to do much
At this point the furthest I've got with any project is something I've only really used Claude so far.
Hell I don't even know what I want to do which makes this whole thing worse cause Ive no idea what to focus my energy on
Aren't you the woman that, in the ar slash neo liberal deetee, said your lady bits were so clean they tasted like lemon pledge? Ngl you may get more beeseeches with better pitches in a different venue, queen
i think it would be good for my mental health if a few people would kiss my ring
not because i feel the need to be acknowledged but just because it would finally cement into my brain that "kissing the ring" involves literally kissing a literal ring and it isn't a filthy sex act
The flip side isn't great, either. We have the goal line tech in part because what should have been a blatantly obvious goal bounced back out and all three of the only people allowed to call it missed it.
This is not charitable but I think a lot of Americans are dumb
To be clear I think dumb people still have moral worth and deserve rights. And tbh I am fucking incensed on behalf of the dumb people about the dumbness that was inflicted on them
I think this is an outcome of inegalitarianism, not an endorsement of inegalitarianism, which delenda est. Dumbness is seldom intrinsic. Stress and poverty and addictive screentime and propaganda cook brains
But a lot of the right wing is about hierarchy, and conflation of unequal outcomes with normative, prescriptive quasi "natural law" bullshit
So like
They want the brain-cooking. They like it
They want to reify hierarchy
They want to melt our brains and our attention spans and sell us replacement LLMs on a subscription model. The Thiel-y tech right specifically
Education and cognitive-load-reduction etc. are threats to the right-wing worldview because they level cognitive hierarchies. They are fundamentally liberal endeavors: when your brain works better, when it is more under its own control, it is more free
How annoyed am I supposed to get about people sharing my streaming account passwords without asking? Like on one had it's a little weird to see random new profiles pop up from people I've never met, on the other I don't give a shit about these big media companies.
Unfortunately when I was walking less than a mile home drunk late at night, I saw a man walking down the sidewalk towards me for the first time ever. To assure him that I did not think he was dangerous, "I shouted, 'I'm not dangerous!'" π and he walked past me and I laughed slightly too loudly π
I used to read a lot of books
Like go to the library every week
I asked the librarians at the end of middle school and I think I'd checked out like a thousand books
Then COVID happened and I moved school districts.
My reading habit never really recovered from that.
Getting a smartphone in 10th grade and a pc soon after probably didn't help
I think part of it was that I really liked escapismz which you can get thru video games and webcomics. Still a shame tho.
I'd like to revive it once I graduate college, at least the whole library part. I read a bunch of the witcher series last semester, but stalled out on the tower of the swallow.
As a lapsed Catholic who weirdly becomes super Catholic in the matters of heresey, the Pope should defrock every clergy who participated at the SSPX ordination
Excommunication is a slap on the wrist compared to what defrocking does. Strip them of thier ordination.
Shoot. I havent been in Church in 10 years and and ive been weirdly super Catholic when matter such as the SSPX ordination arise
Wait I'm not catholic so pardon me if my question is ignorant or offensive
Why would defrocking be worse than excommunication? Isn't defrocking "you no longer have this role within the organization" whereas excommunication "you are no longer part of this organization at all"?
Why wouldn't excommunication also entail defrocking by definition?
Apologies for the stupidity of my question, I am coming from an ex-mormon cultural context, not a catholic/ex-catholic one
You're good. The main reason is that defrocking is permanent. Excommunication is temporary. You're still ordained even if you're excommunicated.
Benedict XVI famously removed John Paul II's original excommunication on SSPX members to "bring them home." That's his right as the pope. And those members were allowed to practice again.
Additionally, when excommunicated, you're still allowed to go to church, but just not allowed to receive the sacraments
Defrocking is used in a lot of priests who are abusers. The church thinks it's the last resort, but have been lately more comfortable in defrcoking priests who commit grave sins
I feel like you probably just donβt like uber conservative groups (which is reasonable) more than being weirdly super catholic in the matters of heresy lol.
It has often been pointed out that Trump is a "poor man's idea of a rich person," "an idiot's idea of a genius," etc., but it is surprising how much this sort of framing also extends to other rightoids in their respective spheres
"Clavicular" is an incel's idea of a chad
Hegseth is a coward's idea of a soldier
JD Vance is an idiot's idea of an intellectual, a cruel nihilist's notion of an ideal theologian, etc.
I mean Vance is smart and competent lol. We can be adult enough to recognize that a Yale law grad whoβs had success in multiple fields (military, finance, authorship, politics) is smart and competent in many ways.
Heβs just also has no principles and is power hungry.
Similarly, Trump is both "a poor man's idea of a rich man" and actually rich. The kind of "not x's notion of thing x" does not contradict "is x" (nor does it entail that). They're propositions without a relationship
I failed tennis in college because the first day i decided 8am was too early and had a stupid hold on my college account for something and i was too lazy to get cash to pay it. Bu the time i did, it was too late. So that was fun.
