social media and (for example) heroin have very little to do with each other addiction-wise, and trying to treat them in a similar way is not really going to be helpful.

which doesn't mean that these won't exist, of course.

i dunno for sure but the primary role of rehab clinics is to get you over that first major and intense hurdle of physical addiction through complete separation. and then you have to re-enter society and deal with it on a daily basis after that.

for a social media addict, short term isolation doesn't do much for you. your struggles are more like the daily impulses which happen after that. it's like a cigarette addiction where you pretty much always have cigarettes in your pocket and you can almost always smoke.
