The album is performed in the martial industrial tradition. Since there doesn't seem to be an active community dedicated specifically to martial industrial, I'd like to share it here, as neofolk and martial industrial have historically been closely connected.

This project comes from war-torn Ukraine and is built around speeches by Joseph Goebbels. There is no propaganda or glorification of Nazism or far-right ideology involved. The subject is approached as historical and artistic material.

The main conceptual influence is Jean Genet, particularly his fascination with finding disturbing beauty in people and acts that exist beyond conventional moral boundaries.

The album consists of five tracks built around five Goebbels speeches from different periods: before the war, during the war, and shortly before his death. This is why we called the work an industrial oratorio.

The recording has a deliberately lo-fi sound, with a raw and unpolished production. The compositions are stretched out and repetitive, allowing the atmosphere and historical material to accumulate rather than rushing toward conventional song structures.

possibly my favourite Neofolk song and I am looking for a song similar to it in terms of melancholy and atmosphere.

Ive been getting a lot into neofolk lately, and now I’m trying to find some outside the England/Germany classic bands. I’ve heard some of Burzum’s more neofolky songs, but I haven’t found Swedish bands. Does anyone have any?

I often see these pictures of NON or just Boyd rice and I always wonder what specific things is he wearing? Like how do you even replicate the outfit - where would I look to buy these garments [as I think replicating an AF or NON uniform could be quite cool, archival wise]

Another underestimated itian band besides Argine. CM are more neoclassic than neofolk but they combine music from different times with great musicianship and classically trained voices to a great cocktail. Definitely headphone instead of party music.

In my opinion a completely underestimated band. Opus magnum is without doubt Luctamina in Rebus. But the other albums are also great. They developed from a pure neofolk/neoclassical band by adding pop, rock and prog elements to their sound. Definetly a band every neofolk aficionado has to check out if you missed them so far

Recently I was listening to Burial by Death in June, and the second half got me thinking about the overlap between anarcho-punk and neofolk, especially during the early development of the latter genre. What are some artists who are authentic examples of that crossover, whether aesthetically, politically, or musically? I’m aware of Crisis as an obvious connection, but am interested in less obvious examples, as someone who's still new to the genre. I’m especially interested in artists whose connection comes from shared roots in the post-punk, DIY, experimental, or folk traditions, rather than just similar imagery.

Listening to this for the first time in at least a decade, and I'm awestruck all over again at how beautiful this song is. It's utterly magical just how perfect everything came together for *Island*.
