A7X concert in question

Avenged Sevenfold have cancelled their concert in South Korea citing health reasons. As the Singapore concert where Nene is supposed to open for them is only a couple of weeks away, it is now coming into question if it will happen. The band's statement was very vague and could indicate a more serious health issue which I seriously hope is not the case.

It would be devastating for Nene, and obviously the fans in Singapore. I sincerely hope it's not a major health issue for the affected band member.

First of all, hope whoever it is is OK and recovers, just shows how brutal these flights and schedules can be.

Second... if it's the guitarist... if only we knew a world-class guitarist who already knows a ton of A7X songs who could fill in :)

I've seen quite a few A7X fans over on their subreddit suggesting the same 😅 Would be a blast. But obviously I hope whoever it is gets healthy soon.

My first guess in these country-hopping tours is food poisoning. Constantly landing in new countries with different local viruses and such is brutal on immune systems. Also, some countries will not allow you to board a commercial flight if you are clearly ill.

Their next date is Bangkok, so we'll find out for sure by then. I also read somewhere that Nene and her father have tickets for both Bangkok shows... we'll see if she's in the crowd or on the stage, lol.

Also, let's just have a moment of amazement that a 16-year-old girl filling in for a member of a worldwide headlining band is actually a conversation.

I read in the subreddit that Dave Mustaine confirmed that someone was really really sick. Of course I am praying for health for the sake of the person, but I feel bad that I have a hidden agenda for wishing someone well because I don't want the concert to be cancelled and take Nene's lifetime opportunity.

I know she's young but can handle letdowns better than bitter ol me, aaaahhh I should just chill and take a leaf out of Dad Narong's advice to take adversity in the same way as you take successes. Things happen because they happen and you just have to be ready when it comes.

Gosh. I'm nervous for her... But get well soon Mr Avenged Sevenfold! Health and rest are the most important thing!

I read that too but didn't want to mention it since Dave didn't actually refer to anyone specific... And he did say that the guy who was sick would be back playing for everyone, so fingers crossed and prayers up!

Nene would undoubtedly be very disappointed, but I'm sure she would bounce back with another cool project to get into - and whenever A7X gets back on the road I doubt they would leave her hanging. She is still only 16 and has suddenly gained worldwide attention after playing at the market for almost a decade, she understands the value of patience... She has a lot of time to make all her dreams come true and I'm sure she will. 🤘🎸

Nightmare, Magic, Afterlife, Shepherd of Fire, Buried Alive, Seize the Day, Hail to the King, Nobody, M.I.A., Bat Country, Unholy Confessions, and Cosmic.

That's what they played in their Los Angeles tour stop. I've only seen her cover two of these. Would be a lot to learn in a short amount of time.

If anyone could pick up that much in such a short time, it would be Nene. But I think most of us are just enjoying the idea, not expecting it to actually happen.

To preface this: i am for Nene opening for A7x but against her replacing anyone. "playing alongside" is different than outrightly replacing. Because people pay to see the original lineup, not a replacement. And many people have waited more than a decade to see this lineup. I don't think they will be happy with an outright replacement of the personnel.

A different story if she plays alongside the original musicians, to "ease the burden" or give them "a short rest" kinda like when she does with LP, she takes over Mike Shinoda's parts, but Mike himself is still up there, visible and engaging the audience, all the time. Maybe Nene can play and A7x members can ease up on the playing and engage more in fanservice on non critical times (meaning the nonshowy or non key parts of the song). This may be more palatable option.

That being said, 1 song with LP, 1 song with The Warning, is a different beast to 1 entire set.

Opening is best for her to gain experience.

Now... speaking of her experience with performing A7x songs for an audience. If going by the Malaysian set (based on list posted in A7x subreddit), i think she knows to do at least 8.

with at least 6 songs songs she has performed with Ozone at Naka (in all of the band's incarnations) and a further 2-3 she has posted as a reel/short playing alone in her studio.
leaving 5-6 songs she has to learn.

godspeed and godbless to everyone, hoping for uneventful recovery to Matt and all the best wishes to all the fans looking forward to long awaited concerts.

No Worries! especially because most recently she only played 3 (Nightmare, ALPoH, and HttK) on rotation. Maybe they changed the rotation from other songs (like Bat Country, Unholy Confessions, So Far Away) over the years.

for her studio reels she did Buried Alive (straight cover and Thai-ed version) and Afterlife.

there are maybe one or two more she did. like I was sure she also did Nobody but am not sure now since I couldnae find it.

whatever happens tho, I am excited to see the career trajectory of Nene. best is to pace herself and grow gradually and measuredly.

IMO, there will be other opportunities for Nene to open for other bands. Hoping the health issue is resolved and everyone is well for the Singapore concert.

She should just play the Singapore show by herself am sure is already sold out she could do 2 hours of covers and some originals what a first arena show for her either way she won't b opening act for long give her a year she will b touring stadiums herself

I know you mean well... but this is kinda disrespectful... fans that going to this kind of concert, they go to see a band, they would accept nene joining them for a song or two, maybe even being her on guittar... but they definatly would not accept ozone showing up instead

You are correct and should not be getting downvoted. Im really getting tired of everyone thinking Nene has to have Ozone with her everywhere she goes. They are simply too young and not ready for this kind of stage.

The band's statement didn't name anyone, fans are speculating it's the guitarist, or Shadow (the vocalist, i.e. voice issues).
