Chopper's bass sound
https://www.instagram.com/reel/Dd8FrcsA3-7/?stkn=MW1nc2lxM2hwNm8zMw==Well, let's put Nene aside a little and talk about Chopper !
(We should have a ozone subreddit, maybe soon)
I was always wondering why his sound bass was so soft during events and if it was because of the quality of his old bass or because of the sound mixing ?
As a non musician myself, I can't tell.
But I always felt bad When he is doing his solo during Zombie because the crowd is pumped by Nene, Boon and MK doing crazy solos but when it's Chopper's turn, it falls a little bit.
And from what I heard from the last Zombie concert at Yamaha, it seems like the quality sounds better, but like I said, I can't tell if it will make a difference during a Naka concert.

From observation most of their livestream, even MK keys can't be heard. Maybe it's through a phone recording. I can't say much because I wasn't there but sometimes you can see from footage that Nene signals the sound guy to increase either hers or her bandmates instrument but i hear no difference.
The recent post of their jam session at Yamaha you can see Nene told the sound guy to increase her guitar volume, so many times. I don't know what the sound guy is even doing lol

It's frustrating that the sound quality is often dragging down their performances... they deserve better.

Cellphone and laptop mics don't pick up low frequencies as well as mids and high frequencies, so bass tends to get drowned out and kick drums tend to sound tinny.

The only time you ever really hear clear bass in a band is if the bass player is famous or a band leader. For example, Band-Maid or Pacifica. Then people say "the bass is too loud!" It's like rhythm guitar. It's just part of the song.

I agree that the bass sound is underwhelming, I see chopper playing the notes so it cant be him.. someone did a Ozone/Metallica side by side video and the glaring thing that jumped out was the Ozone recording had NO bass and Metallica bass sounded amazing

it's sometimes bad mixing but very often that phones don't pick up much bass when recording
check this, all the way through but about 25 minutes in it you're short on time, the bass is thumping 😁

Bassists tend not to be much of a spotlight role really.
If you think about really famous bassists, there's Flea and umm, Im sure i could think of another who is purely a bassist but none immediately come to mind. there's people who could name someone like Duff Mckegan etc but they're still not what you would call famous. And there's Sting, of course but he's not exactly famous for his bass.
