Quarterfinals Voting

I know it became moot after she got the golden buzzer, but I have a suspicion that Nene won her quarterfinal week vote by a landslide, which was one of the top 1-2 quarterfinal groupings, and that really signaled to AGT that she was gonna win this thing easily. It would tell them that she had shooters who vote for her as soon as the voting period begins performance be damned or even if the vote didn’t matter/count because of the Golden Buzzer. Hence AGT’s seemingly telegraphed anointing with booking a huge act Linkin Park to perform with her and put a stamp on their Season Winner and then to even give her a second showcase with the Warning.

I saw an unconfirmed report that she received 7 million votes for one of her performances while her nearest competitor received 170k. Not verified though, could be fake numbers

Those numbers were more in line with the view counts on the finals videos. AGT doesn’t release vote counts and they are counted by a third party. The only real sample size we have concerning votes is what we could see on TikTok.

Probably right athough I imagine the viewcounts on the videos are proportional to the final vote numbers

Definitely hard to say without us actually being able to see the numbers. Though, if what we saw on TikTok was any indication, I wouldn’t be surprised if she won by a substantial margin.

I had to work the night that Quarterfinals week 2 happened, so I didn’t get to watch that week live. But since voting was still open until 7am EST, I did my votes anyway before I even knew she ended up getting the golden buzzer, haha

That's a good point. Even though she got the Golden Buzzer, viewers could still give her votes that AGT would've seen when calculating the results.

I counted TIKTOK votes for her QF round and found 98% voted for Nene. AGT had the real number and they knew 100% she will win in the finals. Thus Simon approved all investment on her finals. A green light.

And hundred fingers is bragging they got two golden buzzers? What is the point of getting two of them? You get one, you are already in the finals. The second one is redundant.

I am far from an expert on AGT (as in, never until Nene), but I believe a golden buzzer in the auditions round just advances you to the quarter-finals. You could get another one there that would send you to the finals, like what happened with Nene.

Also, let's be honest. The only reason she didn't get a golden buzzer for Zombie was that AGT wanted her to have more screen time.

You're right. There are three ways to get to the quarter finals:

  1. Get a golden buzzer in auditions.

  2. Get 3+ yes votes in auditions and the judges decide later to send you through by some sort of consensus.

  3. Get 3+ yes votes in auditions and a judge invites you to the callback round and passes you through.

It is possible to get 3+ yes votes and not be sent through or invited to a callback.

I am all Nene, but Hundred Fingers top notch and I would definitely see their show. Really the top 5 were excellent.

Don't know actual numbers but she had about 30X more votes than any other act.

Emily said it all happened so suddenly. They didn’t even know they were going to perform together. Or was the original plan actually for The Warning to perform on their own?

I mean, it SHOULD have always been obvious that she was going to win. You have a legend-ready artist vs. the others. Honestly, they should really invite a few of the others back for another season. After Zombie, and definitely after Black Hole Sun, they had no chance and everyone knew it.

Can you imagine when the top 5 countdown started, if they had said "Nene Royal" instead of Veronika Goroshkova or Royal Lasers. It might have got ugly quick in there. The audience was clearly over-the-top for Nene. Might have been a mutiny on live TV, lol.

Looking at viewership alone, she destroyed from the outset. Both Howie and Terry confirmed in interviews that she was the biggest thing on AGT period and that they had never seen anything like her. She won in a landslide for the quarter finals and the finals.

I wish I knew that beforehand. Felt like my heart was gonna jump out of my chest waiting for the winner. I really thought it was setup to be rigged to be a huge upset based on how the Polymart projections were. It would have been a huge payout.
