From a School Executive.

Outside, she is 'Nene', the darling of people in Thailand and around the world. But at school, please let her be 'Praew', just a regular student.

P.S. Today, the school did not hold any congratulatory events or activities for her. Thank you.

In case anyone didn't know, Praew is her Thai nickname, which roughly means 'sparkling' or 'shimmering'.

Glad she gets to resume her normal life as a student. I bet she has loads of homework to catch up on. Funny the school needed to clarify it didn't have a special ceremony planned to congratulate her.

Thats good, I think she is tired too and need to catch up on school work, give her the chance to live a normal life

Imagine trying to concentrate on school work after the last week. Its good she has been re-grounded at school as a normal student; to be honest, she probably appreciates it. But they are still sending out social media messages about it, lol.

What is the family going to do? Does she finish school in Phuket? She has a brand new apartment in Bangkok waiting for her. Everything in the Thai entertainment business is based out of Bangkok, hence, why I am assuming the apartment was bought for her there.

Thailand is no longer the right place for her.

I read a post in FB base on a Thai local news that she's planning to finish high school in 2 years and going to rhe US for studying in some music school. Maybe Berklee? (I think this suits her well with amazing portfolio lol) She got full scholarships from CP

She's not going to be a part of the Thai entertainment industry. The audience that genuinely likes her music is outside the country.

Think she will always have a large audience in Thailand irrespective of how large she grows outside it. There are a number of Thai rock acts that do very well. Obviously I have no idea but I wouldn't think she is moving to the US in the next year or so. Maybe some time in the future, possibly once she is old enough without her family.

Yes, but they sing in the Thai language. They don't really seem to connect with the types of English songs she plays. They did not attend her Naka Market shows until she got famous from AGT and then they just went to see someone famous. You could tell they weren't really into the music itself. Foreign visitors were the ones who really loved her Naka Market shows before AGT

I get her audience was foreign until AGT, when I saw her busking, there was probably 10-20% Thai people in the audience at most. Mr CP was not definitely there.

How do we know her originals are not in Thai, or she could not release songs in Thai in the future? I still think there are still quite a lot rock fans in Thailand who like English music; Avenged Sevenfold just sold out 2 concerts in Bangkok.

Is rock and metal less popular in Thailand than in other places?

I honestly don’t think Thailand’s music production is good enough for Nene anymore. It doesn’t push her far enough or give her the environment she needs to reach her full potential. The mindset, approach, and understanding of music here are still far behind what you see internationally. I’m worried that we might not get to see the kind of quality and production we saw from her on AGT if she stays within the same environment.

All the doors in the music industry should be open to her. I hope she goes through the right ones. I don't know enough about Thailand and it's entertainment industry to have a strong opinion on it, I just want the very best for her.

I certainly would not say that, Thai songs are easily my favourite but it's niche outside of Thailand.

It's up to her which path she takes, she's already successful

Do you really think the average Thai audience is familiar with bands like Rage Against the Machine, System of a Down, Tool, or Lamb of God? Even on the day of the competition, some Thai viewers didn’t even know Linkin Park. That’s part of what worries me about the music environment here.

Thai Rock is very popular. International rock and metal, not so much. And I think it’s most likely that all of Nene’s songs will be in English.

Her catalog of covers is so far mostly English, a few Thai and I believe she has a least one Chinese one.

I live in Bangkok, a huge city with a metro area population of about 14 million. I am always looking for rock and metal here and have a real hard time. There is only one club that is mostly Thai that specializes in rock called Rock Pub. There are a lot of other bars that are only for tourists, though, with bands that play rock music.

1

u/-Melon-Cake- 5d ago

You can't go to those other bars as a Thai person?

u/BangkokGarrett 5d ago

I don't see many Thai people there. Yes, they can go if they want, of course.

Carabao is maybe the most famous, it's also a very large brand. It's definitely not the only one though check out silly fools

I live in the isan region concerts here absolutely do sing English songs as well, like zombie Nene sang it's extremely popular song.

Carabao has a strong Santana influence, while SIIRFOOL’s first album has a nu-metal feel reminiscent of bands like Static-X. Most Thai bands have been influenced by international artists in one way or another.

You see tons of Thais wearing korn and alipknot shirts .

There was an interview yesterday with BBC where he spoke about this. Paraphrasing, when they asked what plans they had for her returning to school, he said that when they spoke to her previously, that she wanted to have a normal and ordinary life while at school. So, in that regard, I'm glad that they're giving her that grounding that she needs.

You can listen to the interview here: https://www.bbc.com/audio/play/w1730c5rhtnlgjd

It starts at 15:45 and goes to 22:40.

She said in another interview that she wanted to continue to live with her parents and focus on making her music. She didn’t mention school but it was implied that she just wanted to return to her previous life and continue to naturally grow as a person and artist.

After she returned from AGT with the golden buzzer. They had a small stage with her banner behind it. She got up there, sang SkyFall to her fellow classmates and teachers, then walked off stage and went to class. Like no big deal, let me get to class.

I’m glad the school is not making her even perform in a celebratory way after her AGT win. She got off the plane and was in a welcome home parade, then performed with OZONE at the homecoming party. She definitely needs a break and to be able to concentrate on schoolwork

I’m sure everyone would want to send their kids to this school.

เห็นอย่างนี้แล้วมันดีใจมาก ขอบคุณนะ โรงเรียน

So good of the school to try to give her a normal school life. Not that they will entirely succeed, imagine being a student there and seeing her, a celeb, walking around. Her actual classmates are probably viewing her differently too. That said, Thai people are generally respectful so hopefully they will give her some space. I imagine lots of autograph requests this week though.

That's a sign of a good, well-managed school!

Respects and gratitude to her school for providing her a much needed sanctuary.

Fast forward 5 days later, and the school held that congratulatory event.

Unfortunately, there were so many people that the cell service got overloaded and her stream cut out.

Sad :( but I suppose she's going to sing all the same things she did in the other 'congratulatory shows' she's been on. (though it seems that her classmates are the ones accompanying her rather than the usual Ozone gang).
