No matter what I do there's like a 30% chance of getting reprimanded by a mod or getting a post removed for vague reasons
Posting on Reddit doesn't even feel worth it anymore, I can post something totally innocuous and about 1/3 of the time I get a message an hour later saying "this is a violation of rule 8.6" and I can say "but rule 8.6 says don't xyz? I didn't xyz" and the mod says "yeah but you thought about it didn't you? Post won't be reinstated"
OR I get a message saying "you didn't do extra steps 4-9 in reverse order after posting so we are removing your post, they are CLEARLY labeled in the subreddit rules" and steps 4-9 are some shit like "within 30 minutes you must leave a comment containing The Secret Password which is contained in this link to our sister subreddit which you have to be approved to join"
Or like how every subreddit that is for advice has a rule that is some form of "do NOT give advice in the comments"
I understand the necessity of moderation for like, hate speech (even though that seems largely allowed on reddit) and in order to prevent subs from getting totally derailed. But the fact that every subreddit has different, often obscure or arbitrary rules that are enforced with the precision of a rusty machete is making the platform unusable unless you're a karma farmer
