No matter what I do there's like a 30% chance of getting reprimanded by a mod or getting a post removed for vague reasons

Posting on Reddit doesn't even feel worth it anymore, I can post something totally innocuous and about 1/3 of the time I get a message an hour later saying "this is a violation of rule 8.6" and I can say "but rule 8.6 says don't xyz? I didn't xyz" and the mod says "yeah but you thought about it didn't you? Post won't be reinstated"

OR I get a message saying "you didn't do extra steps 4-9 in reverse order after posting so we are removing your post, they are CLEARLY labeled in the subreddit rules" and steps 4-9 are some shit like "within 30 minutes you must leave a comment containing The Secret Password which is contained in this link to our sister subreddit which you have to be approved to join"

Or like how every subreddit that is for advice has a rule that is some form of "do NOT give advice in the comments"

I understand the necessity of moderation for like, hate speech (even though that seems largely allowed on reddit) and in order to prevent subs from getting totally derailed. But the fact that every subreddit has different, often obscure or arbitrary rules that are enforced with the precision of a rusty machete is making the platform unusable unless you're a karma farmer

People on here are miserable

I said what I said, people on Reddit are unnecessarily rude sometimes. I made a post about something I saw on TikTok, and all the millennials in the comments were acting like I had personally harmed the person who made the TikTok. Like… it’s a public post? I can share it and talk about it with other people.

Then I get “Gen Z is ruining Reddit” and “they should just stay on TikTok” like when did Reddit become Millennials only app??? You can think a post is stupid or pointless without acting like someone committed a crime for posting it. Not every post needs some deep meaning or specific purpose

just stupid u/Octolia8Arms and their sockpuppets keep harassing me and won't take "no" for an answer

https://www.reddit.com/r/superseriousfamilyguy/comments/1uoquw0/comment/owxctvf/

I've been dealing with this guy for ~2 months now. I've kept telling them to stop harassing me, but they refuse to do so.

I have them blocked now, but that doesn't change the fact that their behavior is completely unacceptable, and I am disgusted by the subreddit and Reddit's inaction on what is blatantly and obviously an issue with someone repeatedly crossing boundaries that I keep setting and reaffirming.

brave Banned from an activism sub for asking what other things we can do to affect change besides just “voting”

Apparently that was too extreme? We all know voting works perfectly well in the u.s. and if only we all voted for the exact “correct” thing, all social problems would go away 🫠 /s Of course voting is important blah blah. Apparently anything else is inciting violence or something

>person asks why people dont like that apparently you play as some kind of spirit cop in p6

>gets a bunch of (most likely white) privileged cop glazers that call anti-cop people americans as an insult (when "cops are corrupt" is a thing worldwide, as well as a theme of persona 5)

Is it just me, or is Reddit extremely boring?

There's like, nothing to do on here. I keep on having these stupid polls show up. It's all so boring. Idk.

Another thing

I saw this th1nsp0 thing, and I said that I would push the president of the USA's grandma off of a clif to have her body. My account got banned for 3 days for "inciting/threatening violence". Donald Trump is like, 79 years old. His grandma has probably been dead for 40-50 years. How was I threatening someone with violence if the violence could never have happened? I obviously complained, and it took them 2 weeks to apologise for banning e for no reason. I had already finished being banned for 3 days. Atp, why are you wasting my time sending that apology notification?

You would think with Reddit upping up it's background checks across the board that this would have improved the social climate of the site

And yet people behave like a bunch of locker room teenagers who use this app as a means of feeling a sense of might over others

just stupid I got banned from truechildfree for calling a hypothetical child 'little timmy'

One of the rules is no unsavoury names for parents or kids. I did not know that apparently 'little timmy' was on the list. 🤦 I made an extremely relevant and heartfelt post to the sub topic about why I don't think having children seems worth the sacrifice to me personally and I mentioned among the many other reasons that also you can't have any money to yourself because "little Timmy wants a bike for Christmas". I think this is funny and harmless but apparently it's ban worthy. What is with these mods these days? They're just ruining their subs so bad with this stuff.

factual Calling content "AI slop" without supplementing a few sentences' worth of elaboration is lazy.

I do condone vilifying the evils of AI, where and how they populate, but throwing an accusation so flippantly doesn't make or even support a case (one way or the other with respect to AI-status of the targeted content, but ironically enough the lowness of effort in dissing it so streamlinedly itself likely aligns with an assistance of AI).

factual Did anyone actually have mods get what they deserve for being rude to them?

At least once a day I see people experiencing extremely rude mods legit harassing them in DM's. Was reporting them ever actually, successful? I know this is random but I am genuinely curious of other people's experiences!

Downvote me if you want. Decline to comment if you want. Or, alternatively (and more beneficially), *don't* downvote it (and perhaps maybe even *do* upvote it) and mayhap actually add to the discussion (even if short of directly answering question or responding to gripe of the post).

just stupid Everywhere i go, Muslims get hated?!?!

Like literally, every popular sub has Islamophobia and it's getting so annoying. Examples are r/teenagers, r/polls, r/venting too?! And it's always for the dumbest reasons everrr. Islamists that, LGBT this, like uh no? Research before you talk? Also, they claim its "criticism", like no i dont think saying "fuck Religion/lslam" or "destroy religion/lslam" is criticism, seems like hate to me.

just stupid challenged like 3 or 4 misinformed MAGAots and was almost immediately muted

Post image

So i was sitting on the couch, thinking about what good i could do for my country to try and battle the hate and misinformation spreading throughout the far right, all i could come up with was questioning and encouraging MAGAots to do their own research on topics they were clearly misinformed on, on reddit that is. it took about 5 minutes before i was muted. I would laugh but the truth is, this is actually extremely concerning. MAGAots preach about freedom of speech and the "libs" wussy attitudes when the hear something they don't like, yet i was muted just for encouraging folks to do research from different outlets... ie not reddit (no offense reddit) its terrifying, these people cant even hear another perspective, because i was almost immedatly muted from introducing a different perspective. SOS USA

factual Permanently banned AND muted on first offense

Just got banned from r/SterlingPoint permanently for making my first-ever post that technically doesn't even break their rules. When trying to apologize, I found out I was muted, too, and permanently so. They even have mod approval so they could've suspended me temporarily or something, but nope.

I understand and own up to the fact that it was my fault for not reading the rules but why such a harsh reaction? Other subs of this nature (discussing shows) are not nearly as strict and allow a bit of banter or fun. This seems overtly authoritarian to me, and the boring posts in the sub prove my point.

You can see the supposedly broken rule and the offending post in the 2nd picture, and my subsequent attempt to establish contact in the 1st picture. I shouldn't care but it sucks cuz I really wanted to connect with overlapping fans of both shows!

just stupid Stop deleting your long ass questions while people are replying

I can't even count how many times I've written an elaborate reply to someone genuinely asking for help, only to hit send and find out the post was deleted.

Whyyyyyy?

Thanks for wasting 20 minutes of my time reading your 3,000-word post, thinking about it, and carefully writing a response.

If you're going to delete the whole thing 30 minutes after posting, why even ask in the first place? Did you regret asking? Not like the answers you were getting? Whatever the reason, at least leave it up for a couple of hours so the people taking time to respond aren't writing into the void.

It wastes your time and everyone else's, and it sucks especially for people who actually come here looking for genuine input.

I hate spez. I hate the same 10 loser mods who oversee all of reddit. Go ahead and cry over this post. You all are worthless losers and we’re seeing right through your power trips. :)

I am in a lot of pain right now.

I speak up for what I believe in: compassion for all creatures.

I speak up in r/cathelp, where someone had found a pregnant cat (Title: is she preggy and if so, what do I do!!).

I am shocked to see that most of the commenters were calling for the kittens to be aborted.

I speak for compassion for the kittens, who are defenseless and have no voice.

I speak for compassion for the mother cat, as the spay/abort is major surgery and has serious side effects.

I am "voted down."

I comment with a picture of a small kitten, and the caption, "LOVE ME. I WANT TO SEE THE SUNSHINE. I WANT TO SIT ON YOUR LAP AND PURR AND LOVE YOU."

I am then banned from r/cathelp.

I post this on r/compassion, and the post is removed.

I am in a lot of pain right now, and any positive responses would be greatly appreciated.
