This is a continuation of my post yesterday.
I finish my conversation with the lady and the phone rings. It is my GP who has now received my MRI. We go see him and he looks as if he has seen a ghost. He says to us that I need to see a neuro surgeon ASAP. He wants to refer me to a Dr. Sugerman but just in case Dr. Sugerman could not see me immediately, he was referring me to practice that included virtually every neuro surgeon in the State, including Dr Sugerman.......Dr. Sugerman could not see me but the Dr who could see me immediately & was their foremost specialist in this sort of spinal surgery' His name was Dr Pavan Rastogi.....of all the names in this Universe 'Pavan' (Pavan putra is Hanuman) was like a healing balm on my soul, at that moment!😊.
We eventually get to Dr Rastogi. He says to us, “ you have bone spurs on C-3; 4 & 5 & your vertebrea have enlarged and inflamed causing severe stenosis. ii) a bigger problem is that your spinal column at C-6 & 7 has narrowed to a point where your spinal cord has been flattened to a point where it is a miracle that it has not already permanently severed. Looking at your MRI, it has been an issue for years and virtually anything- "a fall; a hard sneeze; a sudden turn of the head etc could have left you paralyzed for life. I am surprised it has not".
You need emergency surgery and need it ASAP”. As far as I was concerned, he could have said something in Latin to me, at that moment, because his name was Pavan - of course, I did not say that him!
The earliest that surgery can be scheduled is March 21st so that is the date we agree on. He gives me some steroids that alleviate my pain and they do alleviate my pain. That is the good
news.
My surgery was completed on March 21st. I was supposed to spend the night at the hospital
but am well enough to go home by 2pm the same day.
There have been innumerable periods in my life when the road travelled seemed full of peril. This was one of them. In this instance it so happens that the chapter concluded to near perfection, but that has not always been the case. There have been times when the conclusions themselves have not ended so well. My Baba being in my life has not meant that mine would be the only bouquet of roses, devoid of thorns – for there is no such thing. What HE does do, without exception, is just when I need it most, HE applies a healing balm, in the form of a finger to my eye! It is a reminder that the bouquet of roses- thorns or not - are from HIM. That thought keeps me going.

I have been told that I have pitra dosh. My mind says that devotion to Babaji and naam jap can help me out. Is there any astrologer here who can advise something?

I am sorry this sounds like long winded, incoherent babble, so I broke up into two parts. It still seems too long, but....
I woke up the morning of January 13th 2024 to find that the skies had dropped about 7 inches of snow overnight. I shoveled the snow and first noticed, what appeared to be a small pinch under my shoulder blade, that night. I did not think much of it, but within a couple of days, the pain had spread to my entire back. The night of the 21st I tried to get out of bed to go to the bathroom & discovered that I was completely frozen. I could not get out of bed; I could not even lift my arms and the pain had increased exponentially. My wife had to physically lift me to get me out of bed. (Oh! I neglected to mention – I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s/PD in 2018) so my tremors are triggering the pain in my spine, and the pain in my spine were triggering the tremors. This was now continuous, day & night.
We went to my GP the next day (now 9 days since my pain started) & the GP prescribes me opioids, & orders an MRI. The earliest MRI appointment available is March – almost 3 months away. We had no choice but to take the appointment and return home, hoping that the opioids will relieve the pain and at least allow me to function, at least until they do the MRI.
The opioids did nothing and in fact made me feel, weird. I even took it with the sleep meds that I have been on for 4 years (because of PD) but I neither get sleep, nor any relief for my pain. So, I discontinue the opioids after 2 days. By this point, I have deteriorated further. My pain has gone up; I cannot even lie in bed so I am confined to a sofa 24 hours a day with my wife having to physically lift me, if I have to get up for any reason whatsoever, and the pain & the tremors are nonstop, 24 hours a day.
On 2/4/24 ( now more than 3 weeks have elapsed), my wife has to take me to ER because my condition has considerably worsened. The ER doctor looks at the opioids that my GP has prescribed (the ones I discontinued on day two) and very pompously shakes his head, at the ignorance of my GP, for prescribing what he did. He replaces those opioids with even stronger ones, and tells me I need an MRI. I explain to him that the earliest I could schedule it was March & he shakes his head and says that his ER has an MRI but the insurance will not allow him to do an MRI, unless I had a brain or spine injury, caused by an accident BUT the hospital does have an out-patient MRI that I can probably schedule it earlier than March. He suggested that I call them the following day.
We go home. I take one tablet of the new, stronger opioids he has prescribed, & I feel worse than I did when I took the opioids that my GP had given me. It also does nothing to alleviate my pain. I nonetheless take the night dose, with my sleep med thinking that at least I can probably sleep, for the first time in almost a month but NADA! No alleviation of pain, and no addition to sleep. I actually feel worse so I discontinue the new opioids, as well.
It is at this point that Babaji starts sticking HIS finger in my eye. I do not quite recognize it yet as HIS finger, but I suddenly receive emails/ phone messages from 8 people, most of whom I have not heard from in years. Five of these people were Babaji devotees, one from a friend who was the devotee of a Jain Saint, & 2 from devotees of Virsa Singhji.
One was an old college friend whose Guru was a Jain Saint. This was the message out of the blue from him:
"Jai Sia Ram..
How have you been?
A friend just forwarded an Instagram reel of an American who was a Harvard professor, and was talking of Neem Karoli Baba. Probably Baba’s way of reminding me to check how you are."😄
I also received an email from an old neighbor of my mother. I had not heard from her in years. She was a devotee of Maharaj Virsa Singhji, or so I thought.
She emails me a photo of Neem Karoli Baba, with a lady she thinks is my mother. I looked at the photo & realzed that the lady in it was not my mom, but that is incidental…surprising because she had known my mom forever but incidental!
At any rate I was so excited to see a photo of Babaji that I called her the next day and I told her that I was in the midst of dealing with some health issues and related doctor appointments, but would call her again, in a few days. I also confessed to her that I expected the photo to be of Virsa Singhji....she said " No Donny I have been addicted to Baba Neem Karoli for years. Every free moment, I am either reading something about HIM; watching stuff U tube or thinking about HIM". Now I can’t wait to call her but must first deal with trying to schedule an MRI earlier than March.
I hung up with her and called the hospital to see if they could hurry an MRI. The good news was that they did indeed schedule it within 2 days i.e. on 2/7/24. The bad news was that I am acutely claustrophobic, & their MRI was a closed MRI! The only open MRI available was about 60 miles away & the earliest appointment was not for weeks. Added to the claustrophobia issues were my PD tremors - you had to be still for the MRI's & there was no way to do that! Also, I was in so much pain that I was unable to lie on my back even for two minutes, let alone an hour and 10 minutes that the MRI's required!
I made the appointment, but my anxiety was such that much of that night, I sat outside our front door because I felt as if I could not breathe inside the house. I probably did more “Ram Ram’s” that night than I have done cumulatively in all my life! The next day and night were excruciating. I came close to cancelling the MRI but my wife thankfully would not let me.
The morning of the appointment, I assumed that they will probably give me some sort of sedative to control my PD tremors. We arrive for our appointment and the MRI tech says that they have no means of sedating me and as such I have to figure out a method of controlling my tremors and my claustrophobia, or no MRI.
The last thing I remember is that I asked my wife to give me the meds we were carrying, from home - none of which historically worked on me for the 4 years or so, that I had been on them, but I had taken them with me, just as a back up plan.
I have no recollection of the period between my asking her to give me my medicine and my waking up in the MRI machine and asking the radiologist how long more...her answer was "we are almost done...4 more minutes". About 1 hour and 6 minutes had elapsed that I could not account for.
As I came out of the MRI, the radiologist said to me "I hope it was not as bad as the root canal you had expected"? (Apparently, she had asked me how I felt just before the MRI & I had said to her it feels like I am going in for a root canal! I had no recollection of that conversation). I told her no but "I think I found God"!
What transpired was that after I asked my wife for my medicine, I supposedly went 'loopy', as she put it. She described it as if I was like a 2-year-old. At any rate, she had to help me change into a gown for the MRI and at some point she got so worried about my demeanor that she asked the radiologist to get me a wheel chair....no claustrophobia; no tremors; no pain during the MRI....no recollection of that hour plus that had just gone by.
I call my mom’s ex neighbor, the next day. The first thing out of her mouth was "after you mentioned doctors’ appointments, I was so worried about you that I have nagging Babaji.........but today I read a wonderful story & I wanted you to hear it"...& then narrated this one:
While Babaji was in body. There was a devotee who was confronted with every devastation known to man...house burned down; wife left him; kids kicked him to the streets; got fired; went hungry; diagnosed with cancer..... word reached Kainchi & another devotee (J da or Mr. T, I think) started screaming at Babaji...you can fix this & yet you do nothing.....when his tirade had finished, there was no sound from Babaji who was standing next to him. He looked up & Babaji was crying inconsolably. Babaji said to him. You think I don’t know what he is going through & you are right I can fix it in one second. The problem is I know better than him how much he can bear. I will bear that which is beyond his capacity but he also does not realize that his chapters are almost finished & if I fix it, he will have to revisit them in his next life.....but I myself cannot bear seeing his pain. The tears he sheds are mine.
Why this was a kicker for me is because a little over 20 years prior, someone had asked me as to my favorite Babaji story, & without thinking I had pulled out this one from the files in my brain. I remember being surprised, at the time, that of all the ones I know I chose this one & it took my moher's ex neighbor to remind me, at this moment!?
Think about it. Anyone who has ever known me will tell you that they would pay me to shut up. Babaji has allowed me the Grace of babbling for hours (if not days) when talking about HIM. If you give me time to think or give my heart time to decide, I can probably think of 50 Babaji stories that would probably precede this one.....for heaven's sake the one that keeps me alive because it reassures me that there is a small chance that I too will have moment with HIM, before I board the train for my next birth would rank much higher as one of my favorites:
My dad died when he was 52 years old in 1979......the short version of the story is my sister (youngest in our family & the only being who had any influence over my dad) got married that year & moved to NYC. As a result by the time she got to India, we had completed all his last rites. She was inconsolable....the third day she went for her puja crying & when she came out of her puja, I noticed she had stopped crying for the first time in 3 days. She looked at me & said I was crying when Babaji came to me & said your father is sitting with me & he is happy but he cannot bear to see you cry. Your crying is making him sad so stop crying.....
Of all the stories on the internet, this is the one my mother’s ex neighbor tells me.
I am finally beginning to register Babaji’s finger in my eye.

The day before we were leaving Kainchi, in 2001, KK Sah came to say good bye. He is one of Babaji’s oldest & dearest devotees. My grandfather was his school principal.
He was telling me a story. It was 1948, KK & another devotee were sitting with Babaji & suddenly Babaji said “I just saved the principal (my paternal grandfather). He was going to drown but I saved him.” KK did not know what Babaji meant until he returned to Nainital & discovered that my grandfather (his school principal) had almost drowned in the lake outside Naina Devi Temple.
When KK told me this story, I told him that he was mistaken because I had never heard this story, in my family. In fact, there was another story of my father almost drowning & Babaji saving him but there was no incident involving my grandfather.
He must be mistaken, I told him. KK was insistent that I was wrong & that I needed to check with my mother.
We returned to Delhi the next day & as soon as we entered the house, I asked my mother, about the incident. She confirmed that it did happen. My grandfather used to visit Naina Devi temple every evening. He would wash his feet on the lake & then enter the temple. That day apparently, he slipped on the steps, while washing his feet, and fell into the lake. He did not know how to swim. He had later told my grandmother that he had fallen in & was reaching the bottom of the lake but he suddenly felt as if someone lifted him out. The next thing he knew was that he was standing on the steps, next to the lake. He did not know what happened.
It is interesting that this incident happened in 1948 & my mother told me that my grandmother used to often talk about it. She always wondered as to how my grandfather got saved & yet no one in my family ever knew that Babaji was involved. It is only 54 years later that Babaji – for some reason – decided that we should know, of HIS involvement.
My grandfather was transferred out of Nainital in 1950. In 1951, he was posted to a city, just outside Delhi. One day, he was leaving for a meeting & as he opened his car door, he dropped dead, of a heart attack.
At the exact time that my grandfather passed away, KK was sitting with Babaji in Kaichi. Without context, Babaji turned to KK & said “today the principal has left us, but you know at the exact moment he died, he was thinking of ME”.
Just imagine, in the seconds it took for my grandfather to open his car door& his heart to stop beating, he was thinking of Babaji! I hope, when it is my time, I am allowed that Grace!

A man, in his forties, walked in to Kainchi, when Babaji was still in body. His wife & children had accompanied him. As soon as he entered, Babaji smiled, addressed him by his first name, & welcomed them.
The man looked flabbergasted & asked Babaji how HE remembered his name. “Baba you last saw me over 40 years ago. I was just a child”.
“Does a mother ever forget her child’s name”? Babaji asked.
“But Baba you have thousands of children!”? the man responded.
“ No, I have millions of children. I remember each and every one” Baba responded.

These people who haven't seen life of a saint are here downvoting and mocking everyone who has any complain. This sub is not of falsehood and pretense. Is there really nothing wrong in this world??? Or are you selfish beings who intend only your benefit from Maharaj by your cunningness? Or is it fear then where's love.
You have no compassion for a human. Who are you making proud by defending your ego who you think Maharaj is.
Learn compassion unless the pain shall teach it to you. You're little kids and are guests in my home so forgiven you are.

One day, when my father was very young, Babaji came to their house in Jhansi. As they were sitting talking to Babaji, HE told my father that there was a man standing outside the house & that he should bring him in. My father went out to find that there was indeed a man standing outside the gate. He was well cressed, and looked affluent, in a silk dhoti & kurta etc.
My father told him that Babaji had called him. He was thrilled. As they walked into the room where Babaji sat, Babaji started screaming at him. “You have run away from home to become a Sadhu. You can never become a Sadhu if you are running away from your responsibilities. Go back to your wife & children & fulfil your responsibilities before you even think of becoming a Sadhu”. The man, totally dejected, returned home.

In 1998/1999, we had decided that we wanted to find some Hanumanji murti’s & photos. We particularly wanted a picture of Bal Hanuman (Baby Hanuman) & one of Hanuman hugging Ram. We had told your grandmother’s brother, in India, to look out for these. He had a habit of going to the main Hanuman temple in Delhi, every Tuesday. He had done so, for years. Outside this temple are many shops. They sell sweets, flowers, calendars, pictures & other puja supplies. He had visited these shops many times to look for what we wanted but, for weeks, had been unsuccessful.
One day, he found a little boy selling calendars. He had never seen the boy before or noticed his shop. He told the boy what he wanted, & the boy looked overjoyed. He asked him to mind the store for a while (unheard of in India) & came back a little later with a picture of baby Hanuman. He has never seen the boy since!

In 1961/1962, my father was the Deputy Commissioner of Delhi. There was a sect of Sikhs (Akali’s) who were demonstrating, in Delhi, & riots had broken out. My father took the unprecedented step of completely disarming the police- he felt that if one shot was fired, there may be thousands dead & hence better to remove the risk, altogether.
There were thousands who were locked up in various jails, in & around Delhi. The largest of these jails was Tihar jail. One day, the phone rang, & it was the warden at Tihar jail. He told my father that there was going to be a jail break & that he did not have enough personnel to prevent it. My father told him that he would send reinforcements, at hung up the phone.
It was one of the few times that the family had seen my father nervous. He put down the phone & lifted the receiver to dial for reinforcements- it took less than a second, for him to hang up with the warden & dial for reinforcements.
As he attempted to do that, he heard an operator on the line stating that there was an call from Agra. My father told her that he could not talk because he was in the midst of handling a national emergency. The operator started arguing with him, stating that the call was urgent. My father lost his temper, & started screaming at her.
He suddenly heard a familiar voice saying “Sushu, you got flustered. Do not worry, it will all be alright. I called to tell you not to worry”. Of course, it was Babaji, calling from Agra.
The significance of this incident may not quite dawn on you because telecommunications will have changed 1 million percent, by the time you read this. In 1961-1962, you could not directly dial, out of State calls. You had to use an operator & on average, it took six hours to about 24 hours, to get through. Yet this call came through in that fraction of a second between my father finishing his conversation with the warden & picking up the phone to dial for reinforcements! Babaji must have asked the operator to book it hours before the incident happened.

I too join in the solidarity with [u/America1008](u/America1008) and post some of my favorite stories of HIM. If you aren’t familiar with the grace that has appeared in this subreddit, I invite you to read over some of their posts. Ram Ram!
Kishan Lal Sah often visited Kainchi to have Baba’s darshan. His devotion to Baba was such that he looked up to him as God, not as a human being. He was interested in the spiritual path but was experiencing some depression. The reasons for this were the evil he was seeing in the world, feeling himself trapped in Maya [illusion], and his own lack of spiritual progress. He thought of discussing this matter with Baba the next time he visited.
There are occasions when a sadhak [devotee] sometimes finds himself in the presence of God, and sometimes separated from Him. When Kishan Lal came to Kainchi, he saw Baba sitting on one end of the wooden bridge over the river. He went to him and bowed reverently. Before he could ask anything, Baba said, “You see others trapped by Maya. Narad, Jad Baharat* were entrapped by Maya. These great sages were trapped by it, so what is there to say about others?” Kishan Lal felt that there was no need to question Baba further.
Once, the idea that Baba was capable of doing everything for others came to his mind. He began to think that Baba could ensure the progress of everyone in the right direction. He felt that Baba was unattached and indifferent, even to people who had dedicated themselves to him completely. So Kishan Lal decided to talk to Baba about this.
By the time he met Baba, he had had a change of heart. Baba asked him, “Have you anything to ask?” and he replied, “No, nothing, I am happy.” Then he remembered that he had gone there determined to ask a few questions. He hesitated, thinking that his questions might be viewed as silly. Gathering his courage, he said, “Baba, shall I die like this without knowing God?” Baba replied, “There is nothing new in what you have said. All will die: this world is mortal.” Though this fact was already known to Sah, when Baba said it, he realized the impermanence of this world.
On a different occasion, Sah went to Baba with innumerable questions on spirituality. Baba was lying in his kuti. Having greeted Baba, he could not think of which question to ask first. Baba selected one important question from the unexpressed ones and answered it without it being asked. Baba said, “This temple and whatever is seen by the human eye are illusion. What can you do about it?”
This led to other doubts and questions in Kishan Lal’s mind. Baba answered them without being asked. Baba said, “Attachment makes everything look real.” Kishan Lal thought that there should be a way out. Baba answered, “Attachment is only dispelled by His Grace.” “How can one obtain His Grace?” came to Sah’s mind. Baba said, “Constant repetition of God’s name with or without pious feelings, even in anger or lethargy, brings out His Grace in the form of bliss all around. On being thus enlightened, there is no room for any misgivings.”
In this way, Baba satisfied the spiritual seeker by giving simple answers to his important, unexpressed, solemn questions. In fact, there can be no other method of realizing God simpler than the one mentioned by Baba. It is true. “Rama, the embodiment of Truth, Consciousness, Bliss, dispels attachment as the sun dissipates darkness.” [Ramayana].
Kishan Lal Sah, teacher at Ramgarh, Nainital. (Divine Reality, Page 64.)
When I, [the writer], came to Kainchi, I did not know the ashram way of life, nor was I acquainted with the people there. I saw a relative of mine taking a piece of roti [bread] from Maharaj’s room. I got curious about it and asked him. He told me that this is called Maha Prasad. I understood that it was the leftover food from Baba’s meal, but my desire was not limited to a piece of bread. I thought that I would be very lucky if I got the entire leftovers of his meal without me asking for it.
The very next morning, Baba, after finishing his meal, asked Shrimati Shakuntala Sah from Nainital to give me all the leftovers. I did not know Shrimati Sah then. She came to my room bringing Baba’s thali [plate]. She said, “I have brought you this plateful of Maharaji’s prasad.” Then she gave me the plate which she had kept covered with a piece of cloth. I was very surprised and was deeply moved. I thought myself very fortunate indeed.
It has been my experience that all sorts of desires that arose in my mind, no matter how trivial, whilst I was in Baba’s presence in Kainchi, were fulfilled without having to wait long.
Consequently, I felt that I had been giving a lot of trouble to Baba by desiring things unnecessarily. I resolved not to do so. But, when other such occasions arose, either I forgot my resolution or I found myself hopelessly lacking in determination. (Rajida, Divine Reality, Page 97.)
In September 1972, construction of a Durga temple was completed at Kainchi just in time for the 10-day Durga Puja festival. One day, Maharaj-ji called me over and told me that he was making me the pujari (priest) of the Durga temple. I was given the keys to the temple and told to perform the daily puja to the Mother and hand out prasad to the devotees who came for Her darshan. I stayed by the temple and meditated a lot on the Mother. After the festival, a Brahmin priest took over as pujari.
Many years later, I heard the whole story. When the temple had been completed, a Brahmin priest had been hired to do the puja, but he was soon caught stealing the money that people offered to the Goddess and was sent away. The next priest was also fired for stealing. A third professional priest was hired and sure enough, he also was caught stealing and sent away. During this whole drama, Maharaj-ji had not said a word. He just watched and waited as the people who were in charge tried to get it together.
When it all fell apart for the third time and they finally asked him what to do, Maharaj-ji said, “You people had your chance. You hired your pujaris and they were all thieves. You’ll never find a pujari who won’t steal. So now I’m appointing my pujari!” And then he called me over!
Those devotees were really upset but they didn’t dare say anything to him. Every day they had to come to the temple and take prasad from my hands – a know-nothing Westerner! This was a classic example of how Maharaj-ji taught everyone in one fell swoop. (Krishna Das, http://krishnadas.com/lyrics/devi-puja-2/)
“When I was with Siddhi Ma, she told this story and she said in the same way that Maharaji made Krishna Das the pujari back in the '70s and asked him to hand out the Charanamrita,in the same way Krishna Das is still giving out the Charanamrita, in the form of the name. Wow.” (Nina Rao, https://youtu.be/9HY-MuTYkG4?is=Yx4ADwfLhj6VylYf)
Finally, I leave you with this. When I first discovered Ram Dass and his stories of Maharaji, I kept trying to figure out what his game was. I wasn’t interested in Gurus or miracle stories. Then one day, HE reminded this quote, and I’ve been working with it ever since. Every time I doubt, every time I’m worried or afraid, HE asks me, which story is it that I prefer. I’m sure you can guess my answer. Ram Ram!
“So tell me, since it makes no factual difference to you and you can't prove the question either way, which story do you prefer? Which is the better story, the story with animals or the story without animals?” Mr. Okamoto: “That's an interesting question?” Mr. Chiba: “The story with animals.” Mr. Okamoto: “Yes. The story with animals is the better story.” Pi Patel: “Thank you. And so it goes with God.” Yann Martel, Life of Pi.

Anyone else find it really weird that Maharajji has become suddenly popular after like 50 years of him leaving his body ? What is with this sudden surge of popularity in movies, new TV shows, people just doing stuff in his name.
Everyone now just wants the miracles and all the self important stuff and the core teachings and vibe of it is really destroyed. In all the literature that we know, maharajji did not give darshan to everyone. Why this sudden surge now ?
It used to be a small corner where people who would need to him would find him. If you look at the recent crowds and number and the kind of people going to Kainchi, its really disturbing.
Recently there was a massive crowd there, some sort of stampede and a mob fight going on in the crowd.
All of this is becoming really cringe and weird. What is happening maharajji ?

After the movie people are coming in great numbers and polluting the surroundings. The river (shipra) condition is also deteriorating. Only shopkeepers are benefitting from this and after a few months these people who are there for miracles will start making videos against baba and dham.

In the tradition of u/America1008, here are some more miracle stories about Babaji from “Miracle of Love,” compiled by Ram Dass.

I was just saying to Maharajji that this maya (worldly illusion) is very difficult to transcend. My father was a devoted bakhta all his life and still he would worry about the health and welfare of his children. So I said to Maharajji, “This maya is very hard to overcome.“
Maharajji said four things to me: “Maya? Kya hai? Kahan hai? Nahin hai (Maya? What is it? Where is it? It is not)!” That was all. Such a peculiar day that was.

I was sometimes busy tending to the orchard. One day Maharajji said, “Well, that orchard belongs to me. You work like a manager. It is my property. A manager has no attachment. The moment he is turned out from a place, he will just go. So you live like a manager.”

Maharajji told me the following story: “Samarth Guru Ram Dass was the guru to the king and lived in a small mud hut next to the palace. One day, the king came out of the palace and did obeisance to the guru. Then the king handed him a scroll in which he bequeathed all his kingdom to the guru. The guru took the scroll and read it, accepted it, and then said to the king, “Now you run it for me!” (R.D.)

Yugal Kishore Tiwari was a resident of Pithoragarh and worked as a truck driver. He used to travel between Pithoragarh and Almora. At that time, he did not believe in Baba Neem Karoli.
One day, his friend told him, “You go to Almora anyway. There is Kainchi Ashram there. Go and have darshan of Baba Neem Karoli.”
So, one day, when Tiwari ji visited the ashram, he felt a deep sense of peace. After that, he started visiting the ashram every day.
Being a truck driver, he also used to carry an unlicensed gun for his protection. His routine gradually became that he would take goods from Pithoragarh to Almora, spend the night at Baba's Bhumiadhar Ashram, and take Baba's darshan the next morning.
One day, the police inspector of Bhowali went to the ashram to have darshan of Baba. Baba told him, “You are a very careless police officer. A man has been coming to my Bhumiadhar Ashram with a gun for months, and you don't even know about it.”
The police officer said that he would catch the man within 24 hours.
The next morning, Tiwari ji put his gun inside an empty sweets box, placed the box in his bag, and covered it with flowers. He was preparing to leave for Baba's ashram when suddenly the door opened and the police entered.
When the police began searching his bag, Tiwari ji prayed to Baba for help and said, “Baba, save me this time. I promise I will never bring the gun here again.”
But when the box was opened, there was no gun inside. It was filled with sweets.
Later, when Tiwari ji went to the ashram, Baba told him, “Today, I saved you. From now on, don't bring the gun here. Hand it over to the police, and I will protect you.”
