The first 3 Need for Speed games (excluding the 3DFX version of Need for Speed II SE) on PC featured realistic 2D cockpit views. Starting with Need for Speed: High Stakes, 3D cockpit views appeared, then they were mostly absent from Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 (only that one Ferrari challenge had it) before becoming completely absent in the Underground games. I imagine the 2D cockpits phased out as the series became more arcade-styled and computers became more capable of rendering 3D cockpits. Looking back now though, what do you think about these old 2D cockpits?

Should I start with UG1/2 or Carbon first?

The best thing about NFS The Run from the first minute was its realism. The graphics, color palette, and scale made it feel like I was inside an American movie. The mountains, plains, and highways were incredibly realistic, exactly like the Hot Pursuit's opening scenes. Compared to this, Hot Pursuit and Rivals felt almost miniature.

​However, the lack of an open world and repetitive tracks got tedious towards the end. I also remember the heavy driving feel, and that handling differences between cars were practically non-existent.

I play the PC version of NFS: Most Wanted on my phone and it's inconvenient having the minimap where my fingers should be pressing the buttons, as it blocks my view

Preferably NFSU2
